The gun is so quiet, the music is louder than the gun itself
The music is more annoying also. ; )
So quiet that going PEW PEW PEW while shooting it would be louder.
Kinda like my 53' Colt Match Target.
If it had a locking option it would be even quieter.
You know it's gonna be really quiet when even Larry is not using ear protection.
SOG teams in Vietnam loved these 22’s because they were insanely quiet and also very accurate because they were originally target pistols by design. So cool!
Medal of Honour Allied Assault nostalgia
I remember that one! Silent death at the sub base!
yeeah
Also makes an appearance in Sniper Elite
That's what I'm here for 😁
AwesomeRepix I came here for it too lol
Dammit. Now I want one real bad. Completely forgot about this gun. Thanks for uploading this
Yup I want one too. How elegant, simple and soooo silent
Same here. Man that's one impressive supressed side arm for sure. Of course on the long side for EDC but still would be fun to trick folks at the range with.
They should record some common sounds for comparison: closing car door, opening a can of soda etc.
Music is a bit distracting when you are trying to hear the gun 😂
One of my favourite weapon in the Sniper Elite.
My grandpa passed down to me a High Standard HDM, unfortunately an unsuppressed version, but still an awesome piece of history.
DONT PLAY MUSIC WHEN DEMONSTRATING THE SOUND LEVEL OF A SUPPRESSED GUN!!!!
it ruined the whole video
I want to pull my hair out every time this happens. Completely ruins it.
Doin it up lav style is always a good thing. Love this channel!
Whoa that thing is so aesthetically pleasing
What a cool little gun. Closs range assassin! I only shot 22's, apart from a 12 gauge, when I used to live in Australia. I'd love to own one of these for target practice
This is really awsome and mr Vickers makes awsome videos about guns i can see why OSS used these guns its quiet powerful almost no recoil perfect weapon for infiltration sneaky missions behind enemy lines shame that we dont see these gun in ww2 games
I got your AK book in the mail yesterday... it’s amazing.. woot woot 🇺🇸🍾
“turn your volume this is gonna be hard to hear” *turns volume up *music blares
Appreciate y’all from Texas
Oh and it's also great to Larry's inner 47 come out to play from time to time!
Awesome High Standard 22 Lr pistol Mr. Vickers!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who likes all LAV videos before watching them?
Thanks!
Nope. I click the thumbs up as soon as the video pops up. Larry hasn't disappointed me yet, and I doubt he will.
LAV always coming thru with the coolest weapons! ✌
22LR power is amazing!
I thought the title said "High Standard HDMI 4K"
This is what happens when a 1911 and a Welrod try to have a child
Nice joke man 😊
More like a luger
truly amazing video guys
I got your AK book yesterday in the mail ... it’s amazing ... Woot woot 🍾🇺🇸
I inherited a late 40's HS HD military (no can of course) from my grandfather, great, great super accurate pistol for its day. My pop and I used it in several smallbore matches early 70's with much success. Pop moved up to a full dressed Browning Medalist for rapid fire (fancy thumb stocks) otherwise the HS held its own.
Looking as good, moving as good Larry as you did back at Gunsite in 93. The gray hair suits your character buddy ;0)
Great video footage. I saw everything I was looking for 👍
3:50 hmmm that's quite a nice package my man 💪🏾
Designed back when people still knew a 22lr could kill a man and you don't need anything ridiculous to get the job done... I'm a bit curious though, does it have a slide-lock so it can be fired and not cycle? I've seen a couple similarly designed pistols and they tend to be either single-shot (as per the Welrod) or are able to lock the slide so it doesn't cycle and make a bunch of racket (relatively speaking) when fired.
Imagine being able to pop off a round in the oval office. Lmfao
Bill Clinton popped a load off.
I bet you imagine being able to “pop off” period. ED is a real problem. Thank you for helping to bring awareness.
I honestly never wanted a suppressed handgun until NOW!
So...a suppressed .22 just got added to my "to buy" list!
I've been shooting my old man's High Standard Victor. It's pretty worn out and parts are getting really expensive but I love that gun. It's a tack driver.
Medal of honor allied assault!
What was not mentioned was that that it is only quiet if it is shot with sub sonic ammo.(1050 fps or less) With super sonic ammo the bullet will creat a loud crack as the bullet decelerates to the sound barrier down range, but the suppressor will still muffle the muzzle report.
You don't need to mention common sense
@@xxxxxx5868 Common sense if you're a gun enthusiast. Not something someone casually interested in guns may know.
This suppressor design used a heavily ported barrel so, it wasn’t necessary to use sub-sonic .22 ammunition. The porting brought the bullet velocity down to subsonic speeds
I realize this comment is 3 years old, but it's just ridiculous enough that I need to reply all the same....
"super sonic ammo the bullet will create a loud crack as the bullet decelerates to the sound barrier down range"...
That's not how ANY of that works. The sonic boom (which is what the "crack" is called, technically) is created when an object accelerates beyond the speed of sound (about 343 m/s, or 1125 fps). There isn't any ensuing sound when it drops back into the subsonic range afterward...
I mean what, did you hear a gun being shot and then heard the "crack" again shortly afterward and think THAT was the sonic boom, rather than the echo?!?
That is really cool! Another great video!! 👍
LAV You are a fucking legend thats just what it comes down to.
Congrats on the weight loss Larry! Looking healthy!
That is cool. Nice work. These vids are great
I have a couple supermatic citations and they are awesome
I love rimfire guns,..this is my new love!! I wish I could have one here in Canada!
That's badass!!! Great lil video
Another great video! 😎
Amazing how he still makes these videos even after his acting career took off playing the villain in Jurassic World
In the TV show The Unit, Bob Brown "Cool Breez" is gifted this exact gun in S.1 e.1.. He takes out a terrorist spotter unit with it, damn i miss that show
Dang Larry you're looking high speed low drag again!
Very interesting pistols. While my Ruger 22/45 does kick it's ass. For a firearm that dates back to WWII it's understandable. The Recon Marines at Camp Pendleton did have at least one in their armory back in 1999. they took it out to show visitors gear that they used.
真爽 我摸都没摸过
Holy crap, I think this thing is quieter than my airsoft guns, cycling included!
My dream gun right here
This is off topic, but I’ve enjoyed the movie reviews you’ve done. You’ve looked at Heat and Collateral. There are so many others, but I was hoping you might look at any or all of the John Wick franchise. I realize it’s very Hollywood, but in the Chaos I’ve heard that the actual weapon handling is spot on.
Supercool as always!
The only sad part is, have to get to RUclips to watch this, as the uploads to Full30 ceased a while ago.
dude LAV looking good bro, lost alot of weight. Stay healthy, cheers
Zeldaaa 😌😌😌
Incredible. No wonder there are still some in service with Spec-ops
link?
Link?
When I was in the US Army Special Forces, we had access to the OSS original version of this pistol. Unfortunately, no one had properly serviced it to replace the stacks wipes and brass screen. They were undependable to use in a combat role for that reason and were only used for training purposes
I have always respected High Standard .22 semi auto handguns and this takes it to the next level. I wonder what the internals of the suppressor look like. I owned a custom made suppressed Ruger Mark II that had K type stacked baffles and I miss selling that gun as it was extremely accurate however this High Standard may have been a touch quieter but not by much. My stainless Ruger Mark II would keep 3 out of 5 rounds on a 4 by 6 inch index card, when shot offhand at 100 yards.
The original OSS design used a heavily ported barrel (to slow down the bullet to sub-sonic velocity) and stacks of brass mesh and wipes. Truly old technology to what is available now
You should try out SAR 21
The original hushpuppy. .22lr handguns make the best suppressor hosts.
There's one in the Central Red Army Museum in Moscow, the one they got from Francis Gary Powers. Here's a pic I took of it: Jan-Feb2009101.jpg
No BLUE
“Hey you’re gonna fly thousands of miles into Soviet territory...here’s a fuckin’ 22.”
wow insane content. thank you very much.
Now, how do you lock the slide closed for single shot?
You don’t. Although that option would make it truly quiet. I’m sure this pistol could be modified to achieve that
What's interesting about the "demonstration" Larry mentioned is that allegedly "Wild Bill" Donovan walked into the Oval Office, while FDR was busy with staff / paperwork, tossed a sand trap onto the floor and emptied the magazine into it unnoticed. Afterward Donovan places the pistol on FDR's desk and explained what he'd just done. FDR kept the pistol in question, and the HDM was adopted for service by the OSS.
My grandfather gave me a non suppressed version of that , serial number says it's 1933 and I'm shocked by the fit and finish if a unit made without the use of computers or modern manufacturing
It was made back when people knew how to do math….. someone had to make the original parts by hand….. from there templates and jigs were made for mass production. Each part made its way down the line
A line of machinists who each made a specific cut with a jig for that particular part……
Etc.
Look at early American flintlock rifles and pistols…… entirely hand made…… with no computers no major tools.
All done with hammers files
Chisels and hand planes…….
Larry, I like it thank you for sharing.👍👍👍
Medal of Honor
Nice footage as always, sir. but you forgot to mention the ammo you are using (standard / high velocity or subsonic) ;-)
Everybody gangsta until the fart kills
Awesome gun So accurate suppressed or not Is joy shoot
Why can’t you hear a supersonic crack? I thought .22lr was supersonic. Also Larry looking great mate and love your Sea dweller.
Please i'am from Brazil , and i like your Channel, make a video about ruger 22 supressed Mark l the classic model, classical Guns are my favorits. Thank you
Wow. Thats awesome.
My goto sidearm loadout in the Sniper Elite games 😆
Looks like a love child of Luger and Colt.
Im glad I have a real one and not a clone .
I like suppressed rimfires. I'll like a Ruger 45/22 with an integral suppressor.
Does that clone have the Hi-STD 51/52 Supermatic /Field King recessed bolt delay ?
Sounds like someone tapping a pen on a desk
This gun would look great in full-auto
Shot a clone simular to this at the indy trading post with 60gr agilua sss .22lr inside no ears on and it was quieter than a bb gun!!
That looks fun
Keep it up!
Very nice!
When I was in the US Army Special Forces, we had access to this OSS made pistol. Unfortunately, it had never been serviced properly and was too shot to shit to ever consider using it other than for training
what is the lethality of this weapon though ? it must be used in a incredibly specific scenario ?
Amazing
from video I would say that action is louder than actual shot
Turn up the volume thos puppys gunna be hard to hear meanwhile Squantos playing the eardrum in the back ground wtf lol
Somehow the Russians ended up with an original of this gun in one of their museums. Apparently Francis Gary Powers had one in the cockpit of his U2 spy plane when it was shot down over the USSR during the Cold War.
God damn the music is too loud
Larry, I feel like you may want to know, RUMINT says CSM Bennie Smith has passed.
I like it, I'd want one of those instead of a welrod, if I was OSS or SOE
or just ruger IV mark Hunter it’s matches the astethic
When someone propels a small piece of metal at you
So quiet that blinking makes more noise.
Medal of Honor Allied Assault flashbacks
even with that wight, you can still see muzzle rise
Now that seems dangerously quiet.
We want to see the Glock 46 rotating barrel!
I'm sure the OSS got the idea for a .22LR suppressed handgun from the mafia. they apparently like this kind of weapon during Prohibition.
How many decibels is that?
