    • @vanyakapetanovic4018
      @vanyakapetanovic4018 Год назад +18

      I hate that too but it is actually true. When we think it's original it's because we are not informed that it has been done in some medium already. This is so common that I never even check if something I came up with already exist I already know it does, now it's all about putting your own twist to it.

    A screenwriting course a while back said the absolute WORST thing you should say in a pitch meeting is you have an original idea. :)

    • @BigDaddyJinx
      @BigDaddyJinx 10 месяцев назад +8

      Yeah I've heard similar, and not having taken any classes. All ideas, no matter how original you may think they are, are really derivatives of other IP. You may have a unique vision for it, or a twist that no one would see coming, or a fresh spin, but it's not an original idea. It'll borrow components and beats from other IP no matter how hard you try to avoid that. Just tell the story you want to tell, as original as you feel it may be, and let an audience/critic determine how good it is.
      But yeah, never start a chat with "I have this original idea for..." It won't go over well.

    Insightful video but agree the narration and audio quality is a little rough. Also Jurassic Park was written by Michael Crichton, seems pedantic but if you're going to reference someone's work you need to get their name right. Otherwise great vid and excited to see the channel evolve.

      @@afrosymphony8207 good point. I guess I didn't mean the pronunciation as much as the confusion. On a less abstract level one of my favorite ideas for this is to take two or more stories and make them the same story. So for instance I had a concept for a TTRPG character several years ago where me the the dungeon master decided to look at the story of the prince of a conquered kingdom and the hero's deafening the evil sorcerer king but viewed as the aftermath

I read the short story fight club was build on and in my humble opinion this approach can be found, but it does not seem as the first step.
