    I see a lot of comments asking about the Commonwealth of China. In case it wasn't communicated well, the COC government is not Chinese, it's full of Americans. America has complete control over China, the Chinese people were literally second class citizens and were not allowed anywhere near high levels of government. The COC is not China joining the U.S., it's the U.S. conquering China and subjecting it to their will.

      The confusion comes from how you stated that China would be America's 15th commonwealth. That implies annexation rather than the establishment of a puppet regime.

      While I agree with the confusion, I paused for a moment too, this isn't a puppet government situation....
      China was Annexed, the government in China is the United States government and not some Chinese puppet.
      One section of the United States Government is just fighting internally with another, normal in commonwealths.

    It's not a big surprise what happened... it was evident in Fallout that the USA was probably months short of full blown civil war by the end. If the war hadn't happened it would have blown up... the Brotherhood of Steel formed *before* the bombs hit when they declared themselves in desertion and got no response at Mariposa. The Enclave was already evacuating to shelters before the bombs flew... so any sudden 'victory' only would have delayed the inevitable cracks and corruption. And once they ran out of targets they'd fall apart into a bloody civil war they'd inevitably lose. The only question would be how long it took. A very good what-if.

    • @Baalslegion07
      @Baalslegion07 Год назад +69

      And dont forget all the shit we learn in New Vegas! The scientists at Big MT were there during and way before the war and grew more depraved with every passing month. If the USA wouldn't have died in a nuclear explosion, they'd definitly have won the war with fucked up super weapons and bio-engineered monstrosities.
      The USA had won. They through out every tiny scrap of ethics, they sold their people out and had everything ready. They had power armor, way more advanced weaponry and were bigger. China had lost which is why I think they fired first (resulting in the stuff the brotherhood of steel memoires mention being actual facts and no americanized version of the events). There is no way, that the chinese would have won. Their only chance was a nuclear war and they lost that war too.
      But like you said, even without any war, the US was already so far down the rabbit hole, that any of the then arising dactions would have caused an implosion. Be it the enclave starting an uprising of an american master race, be it crazed scientists releasing their unethical experiments onto the world or be it a military uprising. From what we learn from terminals, even citizens started to rebel pre war. They were unhappy with the government.
      Or look at Rober House. He might want the best for the world, but only for a world in his image. Even as a human he was methodical, calculatinf and superhumanly intelligent. He basicly forced the government into deals and had an entire army of robots built before the war with other creations of his already being present in many homes and the military. He probably would have at some point done the same thing he did to the NCR to the actual pre war government. And without the war, the chip would have arrived more or less on time and those protectrons would have been upgraded, he'd have giant laser turrets on the Lucky 38 and he could have been anywhere at any time. At that point, he would have been able to take over the USA from the inside.
      Or Lorenzo cabbot and his cult fanatics, those were pre war things, those people surely wouldn't have held out forever. We know about that lovecraftian cult that almost every major buisiness owner was involved. So yeah, they would probably have started a takeover attempt at some point.
      And lastly, if nothing else would have happned, the zetan aliens would have won their own war against us. That laser they have on the mothership was strong enough that nobody could ever have done anything against it in time.
      So yeah in the fallout universe humanity was always totally fucked

      Also, the ALIENS. I was just playing Fallout 76 (they had their Alien event again) and I found a recording in the town of Flatwoods in Fallout 76 (I think the recording I found was around the area of the group of double headed cows, The Brahmins, all hang out in Flatwood). Fallout 76, which takes place 25 years after the Great War, has the recording from a guy who gives eye witness testimony that the aliens showed up about ten days BEFORE the war started and he is convinced that the aliens played a part in kick starting the Great War. He describes the aliens in the same way I encountered them in the game when I fought the aliens in Fallout 76 (with them having green skin). He definitely saw them. He also speculates that the aliens might view Earth as a series of multiple experiments that they want to conduct for whatever bizarre reasons. On a side note, there were also aliens in Fallout 3 (in a DLC) and 4 (under very specific conditions, there is a way to run into one of them... and he is NOT friendly).

    Damn... this wound up even bleaker than cannon. In a masterfully well-written way, mind you! There's grim-derp then there's grim-dark, and I think this falls neatly in the latter category as a particularly awesome example.
    As far as a suggestion for another what-if, I'd still really love to see a Caesar's Legion one someday, so here's an absolutely wild idea: What if Caesar adopted Arcade? Arcade is 35, Caesar is (surprisingly) only 55. For the sake of the scenario we could say the escape from the Enclave's fall went a lot worse leaving Gannon the only survivor, crawling his way onto The Followers front door a lot earlier on in his life than cannon. Maybe just maybe early enough to meet Caesar, who finds himself impressed by this kid from the wasteland who shares his passion for Rome.
    I think the interesting conflict of the scenario would be both how the two change and how Arcade's perspective shapes the legion. Graham seemed content to be a general, but Arcade speaks his mind and is willing to die for his beliefs. Maybe he could subvert Legion practice rather than outright contradict it? Instead of enslaving women, he promotes the "Spartan Ideal" where motherhood of strong warriors is considered the noblest aspiration, and one that would probably resonate well with the tribes they absorb given most tribal societies shown in game are on the rougher side. He could point out Rome won most of the time in part because of its tech and manufacturing edge, definitely not changing Caesar's mind on AI but energy weaponry and power armor? Albeit ramshackle suits of it. And as far as the obliteration of cultures, Arcade could point out Rome typically absorbed most faiths by likening pagan gods to their own, such as them classifying Odin as Hermes. All are subordinate to the supreme will of glorious Mars, of course.
    And there's even the option for a chosen ending like in your recent Enclave one. One where Arcade remains loyal, one where he goes all Brutus, etc.

    The saddest thing about the Fallout timeline is that they had everything they could have possibly needed to save the world and usher in a new and enlightened age. Fusion power, wonder drugs that could cure almost any disease, GECKs. They had all the resources they needed to save humanity and they knowingly chose not to. They took that technology to feed the military industrial complex, twisting and corrupting all of the good that could have been done, and ultimately leading to the end times.

I liked the video, but it was REALLY disappointing to see China become what it did.
      The most I could see is tiny Enclaves of Americans still being Americans in new towns and small communities but that's about it, they'd probably integrate into China, leaving only a slight tinge of America behind.
      I feel like once American refuges started coming over, the Chinese would cut themselves off from America and become a quote on quote "sister" republic of sorts, but still, not really as American as America would like. I think this video was well done, and emphasizes the fact that without the Great War, life wouldn't have suddenly gotten easier for everyone else. I do wonder what would've happened to Nate and Nora of this timeline, considering Minuteman is the most likely canon route of F4 I would assume he'd join the rebellion pretty early on.

    • @WickedMapping
      @WickedMapping Год назад +3

      They'd continue to live on their little island of Sanctuary Hills isolated from the problems of the common Bostonian folk. Hell, I see it as more likely that Nate would be a loyalist, just because of the favorable treatment him and his family seem to have recieved.

    What if suggestions for future videos
    - What if Fallout and Metro were in the same world?
    - What if Caesar's Legion went farther east instead of going west?
    - What if Aliens invaded the Fallout world post war?
    - What if the cancelled Fallout Tactics set in Florida happened(FEV Mutant Plants)?
    - What if Vault-Tec never existed?
    - What if the Vaults weren't secret experiments and were all control vaults?
    - What if the Minutemen won the battle of Quincy?

    • @LInkinPark4life
      @LInkinPark4life Год назад

      imma respond to two
      If the legion went more east, it would end up in louisiania or maybe as far as Georgia Florida and Bama
      Fallout tactics two would probably also have major parts in South Georgia, as Savannah is a major city and the Okefenokee is one of the largest swamps on earth, also 2 major rivers so???

    • @oskaranddaniel7582
      @oskaranddaniel7582 Год назад

      If the Minutemen won the battle of Quincy it would if still been a costly battle however they would still be able to help out as best they can destroying raiders and mutants in the commonwealth however they would continue to decline from constantly fighting up until the sole survivor arrives
      Mixing metro and fallout is a cool idea, if a bit odd
      If the vaults weren't experiments that would allow the enclave to win in fallout 2 since they would be seen as less radical and then the enclave would take back northern California and after half a century would conquer the mainland USA
      If the legion went east into Texas they would of came across the Texan brotherhood of steel in which they would be quickly cut down by lazers in miniguns forcing them to retreat to New Mexico
      The NCR would eventually swallow the Mojave and attack the legion from the west causing the stretched legion to collapse

      Which makes sense the states run themselves but are united with a federal government only able to run the military in wartime. And the political slate was wiped clean. Thus the usa and annexed Canada are able to restore the farms with the money vault tec squandered but the USA will recover and be a land of the free. Especially since China is a free capitalist free nation too.

    Nice story. I would nitpick quite a fair amount on this; whilst the narrative is in broad strokes, I still think there’s a lot of what we would call old wall technology you haven’t considered incorporating. For example, there is a lot of talk about military action, but there is no mention of military grade robots. Sentry bots, Eye bots, assault protectrons. With the Chinese insurgence, it would’ve been easy for the military to use these machines against the insurgents with near total success.
    Also - food shortages. We obviously have vault 22 But also there is the pink food paste from fallout 4 as a food substitute. And weren’t Mirelurks already appearing near Nahant by 2077 because of pollution?

      We also seem to forget that every resource problem America had. China had like 10X worse. Why do you think they invaded Anchorage in the first place? Their oil reserves were running low and without the Alaskan supply or Nucluear fusion tech they were bordering on collapse. Not to mention the chinese communist party's reputation with food is obvious, and their technology was far behind ours militarily. The most advanced stuff they could crank out are stealth suits, but their average solider is still wearing basic fatigues and can't even be equipped with any body armor.
