Syrto is the first dance I learned - I was 5. We were always encouraged to dance when I was little because my Dad had a passion for dance himself, and was brilliant at the Greek Cypriot traditional dances. I can still see him dancing at weddings. May he rest in peace.
This is neat. This is the dance called "Laziko" which is from the Black Sea region. I've done this dance for many years with a fire pot on my head. My mother did this dance before me in all the Greek clubs in NYC and Chicago and across the country. Wonderful, fun dance! I don't know this song, though.
