Dear Rabbi Daniel, It is wonderful to hear you including SA in this talk. Dawie Roodt warned us already that we are approaching 5 more difficult years in SA. The most concerning "egg" is the crime and devaluing our country and its future. Please remember us going forward.
I agree with your observations about the early 1960s. It was not perfect here in America but it was better than it is now. Yes, there was racial strife and such. However, after the advent of the pill and the death of President Kennedy, there was a large deconstruction and devolving of American society.
Not to take away from your original point about South Africa, but it is interesting how the 60s and 70s were such transitional time, period. One of my favorite movies that really highlights that transition is The Graduate. I know there are people who don't like the movie, and I certainly do not endorse the morality of the characters. But it does highlight a lot of the underpinnings of the cultural shift. Like how did we really go from Mayberry to Woodstock. Not that we never had calamity before the 60s, but I do think the assassination of JFK had a lot to do with it, and the Cuban Missile Crisis sure didn't help matters, and the Vietnam war made it worse. But I certainly think the assassination of JFK was a huge catalyst.

Electricity for 3 hours a day! That would be a blessing. 8-10 hours is the norm here now.
Wieder interessante Folge. Bei meiner letzten Suche nach einem Mietwagen war ausgerechnet das chinesische Modell das günstigste. Wundert mich nicht.

byd stand for 比亚迪 。 bi ya di auto。
Mr. Lapin, The segregation and Slavery was only in the South and only done by Democrats and the Parties never switched sides.
That's absolutely incorrect. Fact, is, that new York was the largest slave state, a Northern state. And California also had jim crow laws...
