Bitcoin may or may not be inflation immune, but the dollar that it gets quoted in is not immune to inflation. Still a bargain below $45k, Get it while it's hot. Will the internet in the future be based on a series of blockchains (and you can invest in a particular blockchain by buying its cryptocurrency)? I understand cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that are not controlled by any government, and that alone is amazing. But I don't get what non-replicable thing they can do besides that. The explanation Mr. Brooks gave here was something I hadn't heard before, and I'm not sure if I understood his words correctly (I understood blockchain tech is the evolution of the internet itself, i.e. all the internet content, its interactions, and services will be provided through blockchain tech in the future, and you can own a part of that by buying cryptocurrencies). @@2020A-v6k I don’t believe you are incorrect and you are justified in being very skeptical of Mr. Brooks’ explanation.
I strongly suspect he’s an industry insider who
Is advocating for his business with this made-up analogy of “three internet tiers.” He says that the second tier is owned by companies like Facebook and Amazon (as if nobody can operator their own server anymore). The third tier is where blockchain acts as a platform for developing apps like one would on a smartphone platform. “People” would own this platform by investing in something like Ethereum. This is silly in my opinion.
While Ethereum smart contracts do allow “developers” to create simple apps which can use Ether to run, there is little evidence these could even begin to rival the scale of existing internet apps and services. Furthermore, there’s no evidence that blockchain technologies result in this imaginary equitability he suggests. In fact the reality is that crypto just accelerates inequality of ownership.

Crypto is risky as many would say but I think the actual risk in Crypto is not investing, buying the capitulation isn't a tough call, but it is a very tough call to figure out what to do aside holding. I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I was dumb and I didn't understand it. I studied and learned and now I know how it works. @@realadammason It does not mean "people" own anything, it means "people with more money" own everything including the rights to make decisions.
The answer was very misleading, as corporations don't own anything on the internet. All they own are servers that can show you the content. The content is still owned by the person who creates it, which is why you have copy right laws and why social media platforms have strict rules to follow if they don't want to be held accountable for the things people post on their platforms.
The reason web 3.0 is being pushed with crypto currency is because it gives the people who are already invested in it absolute control over it. But you don't need things like the blockchain and crypto currencies to make a decentralized web. In fact most would argue you can already do them.

It clearly does not mention how crypto prices are manipulated by a few large investors. See in simple terms crypto is like a casino. You will mostly lose but when you win you will win big. The only difference is casino is automated and there is luck involved while here you just hope you are in the right place at the right time before the people at the top take decisions.

The fact that we have lawmakers who don't understand these matters highlights how woefully inefficient our system of government is. Leaving them to decide and create separate laws makes them a parallel state but also a part of the traditional state where they have a limited liability. So who protects the user?
