  • Our first ever visit to the wonderful Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District National Park. We follow one of the many walking trails, all separately marked with different colours but unfortunately for us, the Blue Trail we decided to follow was being changed and upgraded to a new Orange Trail, without us knowing. A great days 'family friendly' hiking in glorious sunshine, offering some of the best views in the Lake District.

Hello Alan and Mrs Metalman, that was so gorgeous! I loved the forest and the trees, that little guy sleeping on his side, the sound of the water, the gift shop and outdoor seating area and the great way the trail was kept. So vibrant and lush and green due to all the rain you've had. Definitely a great interactive hike for kids and the whole family. The cake looked amazing!

    Hi Alan and Mrs. Metalman.
Wonderful to see you, two on the hiking trail, although I saw you, two in the Yasmin's latest vid.
Wow , everything looks GREEN, and the warm spring sunlight blinding us in the Enchanting Wonderland Forrest. 6:56
Now this is one of the iconic UK picturesque view I truly love. 7:37 Farmland on the skirt and clouds sweep the summit from one to another. It is rewarding to spend some moments with Mrs. Metalman at the destination. Ohhh.. Mrs. Metalman is like me...minimum appearance in the vid, but enjoy a sweet treat at the last. Oh..You have a sweet tooth, too? You made Mrs. Metalman very happy on this hiking trail, I reckon. Thank you very much. I really enjoy it, Mr.Alan.

What a cool place to hike. My craniotomy was a great success. The surgeon from Turkey used a new method of fluorescent contrast, which I drank 30 minutes prior to going under the knife, with UV light. This has the effect of lighting up the tumor like a black light poster. The darkened OR looked like the set of the Clooney Batman movie. MRIs were done before, during, and after; while tissue samples were being sent to pathology. The final MRI showed nothing was there. After thirteen years of various surgeries, chemo, radiation, followed by more chemo, I am tumor free. The bloody thing did do a bit of damage to my ocular nerves, but hopefully it will mend. Of course there are always glasses, which I am wearing now. Cheers to the both of ya. Carpe Diem everyday. 🙏

Driven past this forest so many times enroute to Buttermere from Keswick and just the drive is really stunning. What a great family outing this was with routes for all ages and abilities. Unless your following the evasive blue track which can turn orange without warning! The ability to pay for parking up to two days later is a nice touch, similar to the toll roads in Europe, it takes the pressure off when your there. Well this lovely weather day looked like a wonderful start to your Anniversary and the cakes, judging from the smiles were an absolute treat! 👍

Hi Alan. I've heard of Whinlatter forest but it's the first time I've been there virtually by watching your video. I like the little carved wooden characters from Julia Donaldson's books. By the way, in public touristy forests like this they tend to keep the bike trails and walking paths separate for the safety reasons, so the bikes wouldn't smash into walkers. We have a similar forest near us. Also, like you guys, even though there were all the coloured signs, we accidentally lost our way along the colour we were following.
