      @yagalamaga 2 года назад +32

      It wasn’t an empire and wasn’t even Jewish, which is a modern term and culture. The modern notion of Judaism is European and not middle eastern. They didn’t have the same costumes, the same language, nor the same clothes and socio-political organization, they were completely different as we are talking about a 2000 years extinct civilization that as the Roman or Greek or many other ancient culture influenced contemporary cultures but are not to be confused with them, the same as Italy isn’t similar to Rome nor France to the Gauls but they are distant relatives (very distant) as much as all humans are connected and influenced from one another either individually or collectively speaking.
      This is a nationalistic revisionist video, not a history lesson.

      The Magna Carta wasn’t invented for another 1200 years, John Locke and the notion of civil rights in 1600, and the international court or Geneve convention for another 1900. He uses terms intuitively without knowing their meaning because of some kind of sympathy that he finds towards a regime that has nothing to do with him or the Israeli political system but is often times associated with for diplomatic reasons. (Aka it’s our land because 2000 years ago that thing over there happened). It’s not special for Israeli politics, It’s a common misconception used in most counties because they all try to falsify a national identity by historical revisionism so they can justify a regime with ethnical preferences. Like when Hitler associated the German culture to Celtic culture by printing Celtic symbols on military units, or Mussolini trying to associate the totally recently invented Italian nation to the very different Roman Empire. Even the Russian monarchy claimed to be the “true and legitimate descendants” (whatever that means) of the Byzantine empire, and therefore with the fall of Constantinople, the descendants of the Roman Empire.
      Nationalism is ridiculous quite frankly, especially when it creates historical narratives.

It’s a brave claim without any support. Rome has already conquered many influential cultures such as the Etruscans, Carthage/Phoenicians, Greece and most of Gaul by then. Rome arrived much earlier to all Mediterranean shores, even before the fall of the Roman republic in 27 bc.
