I'm glad they got the dogs back. I've had a dog stolen out of my own back yard when I was a kid. He was gone for a little over a month and my younger brother, who he slept with took it the hardest and with him only being 5 he was completely inconsolable.Thankfully a friend saw him chained in someone's back yard in a neighborhood over and recognized him immediately even calling his name and telling him to wave hello which we trained him to do because we always had friends coming over. They claimed he was their dog but my older sister, not being convinced opened their fence and took him off the chain and told him to go home. He did just that after giving my sister and I a flood of kisses and we had to run to keep up with him but he ran right home even making sure to mark his favorite tree in our yard before going in. She was lucky they didn't retaliate toward her but when there are 10 kids show up at your house that just might have been too many witnesses. He thankful didn't have any scaring after and lived to be 14 before health issues forced us to put him down. Even kids I was no longer friends with but grew up around him were there so he knew he was very much loved and would be missed.

My uncle gave my dad two dogs randomly one day. My dad went out and got food and water and all that for them to look after them. One day they just disappeared. We couldn't find them.
But then this absolute legend of a man knocks on our door and is holding them in his arms. He told us they were just roaming around in a field. They were fricken chihuahuas, so if a dog, or even a seagull came to attack them they'd be well dead. I still have these dogs now, and I always think how easily that man could've just walked away with the chihuahuas.

I love that Victoria was able to help the dogs and their humans overcome their trauma of being stolen. It's unfortunate they had to go through that, however, if you're gonna be parked somewhere there's a parking garage then you should not be bringing any pets with you for the ride unless they are not going to be left in the car to wait. She got lucky this time for whatever reason but she probably won't be if it happens again. Hopefully hearing the hard truth has made her learn her lesson to leave the dogs home

I had a huge beautiful gerbarian shepsky that got a lot of compliments but someone in my apartment complex kept asking so many questions about her and telling me man I bet she's worth a lot of money. Just really uncomfortable things. I lived everyday in fear. I didnt go anywhere without her. Well life unfortunately happened and I wasn't able to afford her anymore. After a super intense application process I found an old rich couple who had been wanting a German Shepherd since theirs had passed. The man wanted a new baby to shower in attention and love. They traveled hours for her. Inside their expensive car they had already bought her toys and a huge cushion for her to be on. The man was so unbelievably happy. I'm sad I wasn't able to keep her but they absolutely adore her. She loves them and their huge ranch. But it is terrifying that people can have bad intentions when trying to steal someone's dog or cat. That to me is like kidnapping a human.

Lots of people used to give me those "I want to steal your dog" vibes because he's a big french mastiff mix, and because he's bulldog/mastiff he kind of looks like a giant red nose pitbull. While for mastiff standards he's a little on the small side, for pitbull standards he looks like one of those big bodybuilder 120+ pound working dogs you see pulling heavy loads and even entire trucks sometimes...
I always worried he would get stolen and used for dog fights or attack dog stuff.
Now that he's PTSD like these two I worry his stranger aggression will make people wanna steal him MORE, although the "wow gorgeous dog wanna take my number so you can sell him to me if you ever want him gone??" conversations have since stopped now that strangers cannot come within 100 feet of me anymore.

I wouldnt even leave my doberman alone in a car. Not only cause its dangerous to the dog, with the car getting overly hot, but this is the exact same thing that happens to people as well. Whether you are a child or a grown person, you can be abducted from a car when on your own, parked somewhere especially in a garage like that. Only difference is most people (and authorities) wont try as hard to get a dog back. If you are going somewhere with your dog, make sure its a place they can also come with you, inside, out of the car and not left alone.

@@abandonedbucharest7704 Oh man. Forgiving yourself is the hardest part of the whole process but don't blame yourself for another person's bad acts. I recommend something like the book BAT 2.0. You will need to learn all the signals they give when they are uncomfortable and get good at reading them. You will want to work with them one-on-one because it's hard enough to read and respond with good timing to all those subtle signals with just one dog at a time, much less two. You start by figuring out how close a stranger can get before they start to react. That's their reactivity threshold distance. Then you use positive things like treats just outside that threshold to shrink the size of their reactivity bubble and reprogram their emotional response to strangers from scary to oh yay treats. BAT 2.0 also uses something they call "functional rewards" like distance from the trigger as rewards for tolerating the trigger person. So you can reward then by turning and creating more distance. Feel free to email me training at jessicatrantham dot com and we can talk about exactly what your poor puppers do when they see strangers and how to work on it, maybe even do a Skype lesson if needed. No charge for crime victims, I just want to put some good back in the world.

However, they need to know that when you say it's enough then it's safe and they don't have to worry. Like when they invited the stranger into the house, the dogs needed to know that once he was invited in he's safe and they don't have to worry about him.

This totally undercuts the entire purpose of "Adopt, don't shop".
Plus, it brings up the horrifying possibility that some "rescues" may be someone's purloined pet. I don't think Kim Kavin mentions that in her book, but after watching this episode, I can't help but think about it. :-(

And that is a horrible practice and scary thought, my was dog vet surrendered with his brother as a puppy and we got him from there so it is highly unlikely to be the case for him but that's horrible that it happens at all

To all those who say "Who would even steal a dog"
Yeah, it does happen. A LOT. In a LOt of countries. Pedigree dogs are stolen and resold for high sums, or bred to sell the puppies if they are not fixed. Even non pedigree dogs are stolen in some countries, either because they LOOK pedigree and can be resold or bred, or as "bait" for the dog-fighting arena dogs (to be killed by fighting dogs as practice), or to BE fighters in the arenas (which is of course highly illegal almost everywhere but people still do it and its often related to other crimes like drugs and such).
I'm afraid no dog is really safe. They are stollen from cars, from shop fronts, from the beach, from private yards, some are even snatched from the hands of their owners if the owner is frail or young.
So dont be oblivious, microchip your dog, never leave your dog alone, not even in your own yard if its at all accessible, dont let your dog out of your sight in public places, and always pay attantion to the dogs around you, you may be able to stop or report a dognapper and save a dog's life.
Some dogs are returned with the help of good people, or are paid ransom for to be returned, or are returned with the help of authorities. Most, however, are never seen again.

I called Animal control and they did nothing. I was 15 and spent all my saving on his vet bill. His ears were so infected it looked like a mixture of blood and oatmeal. He a double eye infection leaving him with dry eyes issues. Eventually the eye needed to be removed. Shaving down revealed a terrible skin infection from all the wet mats tugging at his poor skin. It took a shot and 2 rounds of antibiotics before he could pass a health certification to fly home. He was so worth the delay in getting my first car. I know cockers have a reputation for being snappy. But he was so happy, social, and such a lover.

One time my pit bull who was 5 months at the time got stolen. We had gotten her from a friend and we hadn't had her microchiped yet. It took us a year to get her back but when we did we knew it was her because she responed to her name, nickname, she still knew how to sit, speak, walk, heel, and lay down. But when we got her back we noticed she had stiches in her paws and throat. We came to the conclusion that she had been used as a fighting dog because when we saw other dogs in walks she would cower behind me or get in a tight ball (before she was stolen she would normally greet another dog) even when the other dog wasn't doing anything. And she was afraid of sticks and rocks (before she would play fetch with sticks, and try to dig in sand/gravel/rocks).
The way that she got stolen was I had let her outside while I took my great pyrenees on a walk (I take them 1 at a time). And when I came back there was a note that said only "thank you she's pretty". It was the worst year of my life, but me and my family never gave up and we got her back because of that. Now I NEVER let either of my dogs out by themselves. Luckly my pit bull is getting better with people, we are training her with greeting other dogs, and within these next few months she will be mostly back to normal. Thnak you for reading my story!

+brandon faris-There could've been any number of situations. At the very least, the dogs did understand in some way they were ripped away from their own, violently. They were probably shut in a house for several days. The robbers could've abused them if they weren't quiet. And if the robbers were trying to sell them off, it is likely the dogs were stuck in a small, cramped house, filled with other terrified dogs that were barking and whimpering nonstop.
Anyone wouldn't come out of that situation even only after a few days okay. So it's no surprise the dogs were left traumatized and scarred from the experience. They weren't necessarily being violent, they were just scared out of their minds from everyone and everything outside their owners. Outside the house. Even new dogs. It's really sad.
And just like with any traumatic experience, even dogs need to find a way to heal. To learn to trust again. It will take some time but these sweeties were okay as long as they were given encouragement, support, and a lot of love and kindness.

We found her like six months later, just sitting in someone's yard and called her to the car, brought her home but she was never the same, really skittish, defensive and snappy whereas before she was your typical Doberman, alert, stoic, protective. She was completely nuts and we have no idea what happened to her or what she went through but it really messed her up.

That's terrible! Would've called the police on them as well. Sitting in someone's yard after being stolen?? Too suspicious.

@@ChristmasCarolyn It was a long time ago, I was actually just a little kid and it was my dad's decision to not pursue anything. For all we know that family had no idea she was stolen and bought her from the people who took her. We'll never know.

The fact that the first time I’ve ever heard victory curse (or bleeped our cursing) is when talking about dog nappers makes me happy beyond all belief and shows that though she is professional she is extremely personable and shares my hatred for those who steal dogs as well. (You can’t get much lower than dog napping but fortunately my new adopted German Shepherd, though she tolerates strangers, she doesn’t like them and will only listen to me and my immediate family which means she could probably hold her own if someone tried to grab her. My shih tzus wouldn’t be so fortunate)

This is exactly why I keep telling my partner not to leave my Husky outside the shop by herself, lots of dodgy people around on the high street and it only takes 20 seconds! 😓

Huskies especially are at high risk to get stolen because they're so sought after! Just in the past few years I've seen probably 5 different headlines for specifically huskies that got nabbed, not to mention all the other dogs. One husky was stolen right out of the owner's yard as they watched from the door in shock! (That one made it back home.)

I went to Vegas with some girlfriends and asked my ex to watch my dog. I never got her back. We got her together and she was my only dog. I learned that she passed away recently. She was only 11. He wasn't very nice to his dogs. She probably died of stress.

Okay, so we all agree that Debbie's partner is life goals for a partner? All the other partners/husbands on this show need to take a serious look at this man, because he is what they should be aspiring to be like.
"Gizmo's achilleas heel is a squeaky toy" is the greatest sentence to have ever been said on this show.
