You do realize you are supposed to bolt the plate to the camper. The plate stays on the camper, and you can just remove the jack when not needed.

You don't have to bolt the plate to the camper, you can use the jack just as I did in the video. The video is almost 8 years old and I no longer have that truck camper. If I had kept that truck camper, I probably would have bolted the plate on. Thanks for watching.

@@ColoradoCamperman I realized it was an old video when you said you paid $100 for the jack. Now they sell for over $350.

Camperman....thanks for the video..just.bought a set for my Lance...just a quick note or two...on the jack handle you will find, or have already found a fitting that will tighten the bolt head, so no need for the ratchet ...the carrier ring is just that...when the jack is not in use you can unbolt the jack from the mounting bracket and remount the jack to the bracket and store the jack in horizontal position and the carrier ring then holds the lower portion of the jack neatly up. And you are definitely right about the jack fails and damage to campers...just found a number of them on youtube...that's what happened to me...I looked at several fixes...including welding in angle iron supports and so on....but I stumbled across your video and found the answer.... thanks much for the post..all the best.

    Stay away from Rieco-Titan brand.
My TC came with Rieco jacks, but the guys at this company charge an astronomical amount for ANY replacement parts. Their prices are so ridiculous that it's actually cheaper to buy the entire system, get the part you need, and try to resell the rest. For example, a replacement wireless remote costs $335.79 plus $20 shipping, and the tiny activation switch panel is $145.00, which is insane for $10 worth of material (a metal plate, LED, 3.5mm jack, and switch). I'm buying a full Atwood kit, minus the jacks, for less than $400 and it comes with two remotes. I’m done with pathetic Rieco-Titan and their ripoff BS.

I hate it when companies overcharge for parts like that. That is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, are these the cable style or hydraulic? The website isn't really clear. You mention "these other cable jacks" that are your old ones but do you know the internals of this one and what maintenance you've done since you bought them?

I don't think they are either. I think they are similar to the tongue jacks that you see on campers where it is basically just a long threaded screw. Check out this video on tongue jacks to see what I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/akkrGjZBUEs/видео.html
I sold the camper a few years ago, but I bet the maintenance is the same as the tongue jack like in the video link above. I really liked those Reico jacks, they were amazing! Here's the link for them on Amazon: amzn.to/2Po34GQ Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

I kind of wonder how often built-on type jacks end up causing damage to campers. Either from getting bashed into things, having the legs caught, or the general stresses over time from being bolted to the corners. The guy that sold me the import camper, used to do a lot of bush camping and didn't like the idea of having the jack legs hanging off the sides. He worried that trees and things would catch on them.

+Jimfoxyboy I think truck campers, especially older ones (when they didn't have the best jack systems) have issues with the jacks. Both truck campers that I have owned had corners that were crumpled in where you could tell the jack gave way or caused damage. It will be interesting to see in the future how the jack systems these days hold up. I have the same concerns as your friend and that is another reason I removed the old pump jacks. Overall I am really happy with this Reico jack, thanks for watching!

I am think about getting a set of these tripod jacks, due to an older camper that looks like it has had it's corner brackets ripped out a time or two. But, I noticed the black brackets you have (had?) on your camper and wonder where on earth you found them?? In my search, I can only find the standard white plate, 2 piece bracket system. Thanks!!

Yeah, those jacks are a pain.Had reico on mine, then switched them out for Happy Jac,pumped up good but could not get them back up in the tube. The other day I was jacking the camper up & the corners gave out.Camper toppled over, now I'm chopping that piece of crap up to go to the landfill. Now discovering there is a lot of rot in the overhead bunk & corners are all chewed up.I have no idea what they were thinking at the factory when they screwed the corner brackets into 1X material. So pissed.

Dan C. Oh man, I am sorry to hear that! I am lucky that didn't happen for me on my first truck camper I bought. Similar situation with the corners already caved in by previous owners, I had the pop bottle style jacks which were terrible! Hope the tear down goes well.
