    In this video, watch the morning run and warm-up, followed by a 12 round heavy bag sprint session whereby Dmitry stayed behind to teach me the foundations of the world famous Soviet Style of boxing. See how Bivol is able to defend himself at all times, how he loads up for power punches and the importance of always using his legs.

    For those trying to learn this technique. I found that medicine ball throws were the best way to understand how to generate power from the legs and hips, as Bivol explains. With repetition, your body will naturally discover ways to tap into additional sources of power (legs).

    • @snooz64
      @snooz64 28 дней назад +7

      A good way to understand the dynamics of this way to punch is to get close to the heavy bag, get your arms down very relaxed and just bump the bag with your shoulders, pushing yourself into rotation with your legs. Just as if you want to shove someone very hard. Push the leg and flick your hips and upper body to slap the bag. Let you feet move and slide while doing it, don't be planted in the ground.
      Once you feel the motion and how it gives momentum to your shoulder you can start adding the arm. Always very relaxed, don't try to punch with it, use it as a dead weight, like a loose extension of your shoulder. It will look silly and sloppy but you have to feel that your movement is throwing your arm. Once you get that you can add the final touch, your arm extending with the correct motion. You can see this in Frolov's vids or other soviet coaches. From the body motion a very relaxed arm used as a whip.
      As you don't use your arm your brain will not focus on it and let you do the right core movement. If you learned to lead your punches with your hand or arm like Ben here, it's very hard to change it and you can see he never gets it during the video. Keep in mind that in soviet boxing the main idea is to get the impulse for your punches from the body movement, never from your feet planted. So keep moving and use these motions to initiate punches.

    Thanks my friend. I appreciate you sharing another video! It’s like gold ✨. In my mind it seems like all Bivol punches generate from his Shoulders, not the biceps 💪🏾! It’s like a chain reaction>>> Shoulders arrive first >>> the elbow >>> then wrist 👊 💥. And just keeps the hips loose, like jelly! That’s how I would be thinking in my own head after hearing what Bivol said. “Loose like jelly, loose- jelly-> the shoulders!” Idk if that makes sense but that’s how I interpret it 😅 You were looking very good by the end 👍🏾 🥊

    I believe this style is one of the most beautiful yet daring. I love Bivol and he makes this style work wonderfully. My only small little complaint about this style is how the off hand keeps dipping too low for my comfort, where as the responsibly defensive person in me wants to keep the guard tight.
    However, I liken this, me being an Actor as a “Theatre warmup” a style fluid and invigorating to get the whole body tuned up.
    I love the style though nonetheless and love Bivol as a fighter. He may have one of the most, if not the most, beautiful styles of boxing to watch (the jab, the lateral movement, he’ll exchange with you in the pocket, his IQ, TOUGHNESS). He should definitely land in the top 5 in pound for pound boxers (imo)
