Soft? What is considered to be a hard man in your eyes joe? Turning your back on the one who fed you like Eminem? Does that qualify to be considered hard in the rap game? Tired of ignorance being glorified in today's world. J Cole is the greatest rapper to do it. Story telling A+ Rhyme A+ Beats A+ Flow A+ Vocabulary use and enteredes A+ Ignorance and blind eyes can't see the truth.
I think this who J Cole thing is exposing the mindset of black men. J Cole is refusing to cross a line and instead of respecting it they rather criticize him for not folding to the cycle. Hip hop does so much harm to black folk I swear.
And you know good-n-well that all these jokers would be quick with the "We need to do better" thoughts and prayers if this "beef" that they're so hungry for ends up going too far and people start getting shot. Clown show.
@@Supre3m3Kai you know what the problem is with that logic, it’s short sighted, I’m talking about a repeating cycle. No one is getting shot over this one but, people have and can get shot if the cycle continues. Bigger picture!
Cole came back from the worst year of his career by just rapping. No interviews, ig pr stunts, statements or podcasts he just rapped and if you appreciate bars his last few features and releases have to get you excited for The Fall Off.
The original song that is sampled is Lonnie Liston Smith’s ‘A Garden of Peace’. But yes, it has been relentlessly sampled. Rick Ross alone has used it like 3 times lol

Love the song, the sample and the hook/melodic elements of the rapping, however it’s an effort to seem “neutral” after collab’ing with Kendrick affliates, the 7MD apology and his feature run with artists in an active Drake feud. But the second verse comes out more as Cole defending and pitying an alleged pdf file, culture vulture and according to the Metro, The Weeknd and Future, a backstabber. Confusing tbh.
I agree with all of joes sentiments but in defense of Cole I don’t think he’s tryna defend drake, I just think he is spineless and doesn’t have any morals he stands for. He thinks he can be on everyone’s side but when taking the road of trying to please everyone you end up pleasing no one. He needs to be either stay out of it or pick a side and stand on it. Cole’s issue is he let his peers gas him up, according to Wayno, who said Dreamville members were saying “watchu gon do, Cole!?” There was no genuine basis for a Cole & Kendrick beef in the first place in comparison to Drake & Kendrick who had real friction. This is why “7-Minute Drill” seemed like an empty diss, and you could tell he did a response to appease the people online who love drama. You don’t need a beef to rap better than the next rapper. I hope we get another song from Cole & Kendrick with a verse each.
The beef is when Kenny said fuck the big 3. Cole included. Kendrick is wordsman and knew how to exclude him but he didn't. From there it's beef or a challenge. And secondly, kenny and Cole don't have any good songs together. Cole has better tracks with Wale than Kendrick.

I don’t see why more people don’t see this; I’ve said it before and even Cole agreed. He ain’t afraid to battle anyone, he just didn’t battle a friend. Once he realized it was deeper than rap, he wisely chose to step out. He didn’t help himself with that diss tho

OK here is the thing. I know what he was trying to say, it's not that he's saying he would have won the battle he just meant that he was gonna lose a bro either way. Kendrick and Drake are NEVER making music together again after this, and Cole is just trying to say that he didn't want that to happen. @@Optimism2K question, when Cole dropped 7 minute drill did you think the intention was for real beef or issues to be the result? One of the song’s biggest criticisms was that Cole didn’t do much dissing on the song because none of the shots were personal😂. Cole backed out the beef in April. Why is he circling back 6 months later to try and rewrite history. He could have left this topic alone! He dissed Kendrick. If beef was truly beneath him he would never engage in the first place.
It doesn't seem like he's trying to rewrite history,he's just speaking his peace on it because his role in the beef is still being talked about. Plus tbf Kendrick dissed him first when Cole was only showing love to him on First Person Shooter
@quandrealion "Everybody steppers, well, fuck it, then everybody breakfast and I'm 'bout to clear up my plate..." Steppers, as in Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers (by Kendrick). That's a shot, not love. Open your ears.
Because Cole copped a plea and apologized 2 days after dropping it? Why diss someone waving a white flag? Which is kind of a snake move from Cole because he went off and took a shot and then apologized before Kendrick could respond, assuming he wouldn't if he apologized for it.
I don't think Kendrick ever really had a problem with Cole...the Like That verse doesn't say much about Cole, it's mostly for Drake...I think after 7MD dropped Kendrick would have responded but Cole apologized on stage in front of everybody and deleted the song so Kendrick decided to focus on the 1 remaining opponent...just my opinion
it was supposed to be a exhibition, it turned into more because of drake. j cole started the exhibition and despite the real shit kendrick lamar brought up in the beef that extends beyond the game, j cole still calls drake a friend and a music collaborator. j cole bails out of the car that he was steering, then wants to meet up with drake at the crash site like "lets make some money 😁 friend 😁" then looks down his nose at kendrick lamar for being a military tank that crushed the car, like: "little old me, when i ride on my opps, i ride a bike"
Bottom line is Cole made a half baked decision to throw a bunch and decided to not deal with the consequences and apologize after. When he has been someone to spit verses talking about he will kill any rapper in the game for years and decide to run away is going to stain his legacy. Part of great writing isn’t always about the words you use, it’s how you put words together that impact and affect people in a certain way. J Cole got caught up in proving that he can rap after people kept saying he was sleepy etc, and now he’s lost a part of him that made him who he was in the beginning.

For the people who think Cole and Kendrick could've had a calm rap battle. Even though I know it pains me but I do agree with joes sentiment about the big 3 debate if we go back to heavens E.P Cole explains how he felt he was handed the bronze behind drake and Kendrick so it’s very obvious that Cole in some regard was bothered by how he perceived his position in that conversation, Cole had the opportunity to prove why he’s worthy for number one which I really do think he is worthy but he chose not to for understandable reasoning but I don’t think Cole was okay with just being regarded as anything other than 1

As someone who really likes the song, I agree with every word of criticism Cole is receiving.
It's fire song especially the first verse but I disagree with the message of the second verse.
J Cole can lie and say Kendrick and him are friends all he wants we know they are not. Don’t hangout, don’t communicate, don’t collaborate often only once? Coward Cole strikes again
Kendrick is a student of the game. He never considered any of them niggas his friends. If they wasn’t signed with Top Dawg, they wasn’t getting any attention from Boogeyman.
You know they don’t hang out or communicate? You in their group chat or something? You don’t know these people bruh.
Dude Cole a college kids who raps about the trenches like he been though that & y’all went for it 😂😂😂
@@gloryroad7452 forreal. He got all these other niggas fooled. He already said “when shots get to blasting, I turn into a track star” 🏃🏿♂️ 💨🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
@@Dkvizu do better j Cole and Kendrick themselves will say they don’t communicate or hangout. The term “friend” is hilarious they are not friends. We both know anytime they hangout someone would take a picture so quit with the foolishness
He can out rap all of them he just has respect
He picks and chooses the most obvious artists to Collab with. That aren't lyrically on his level.
Why not do a couple features with Wayne it's only 450k. A couple with Eminem, Royce, Why not 2010 Big Sean, Dave East maybe, why not do a couple with Joyner, before 2014 Logic or NF, he smoked with Mac miller hmm. Cole picks and chooses those below him. Rarely does he feature or Collab with someone on his level or above.
That's like a Legendary rank in call of duty mobile only playing in unranked lobbies after gaining legendary status. You just like getting stats on folks who aren't good.
@@andrewswing9917Hes rapped with Royce on boblo boat, Rapsody on sojourner, Push and Sean in the mixtape era on Looking for Trouble Trae the Truth on Children of Men, Benny the Butcher on JP Caddy, Drake several times, Wayne on green ranger, Daylyt and Ab soul on Pi and Collard greens, Wale on My Boy, JID on stick and Off Deez, Camron on They Ready, Jeezy and Kendrick on American Dream, Earthgang on water boyz and the dreamville ep, Lute on the EP, KRIT on Prove It, Smino on 90 proof and to top it all off hes never rapped with Mac Miller RIP hes they just produced for each other
Was Kendrick rapping on American Dream?@@johnlennon3107
😂 “he has respect” yall pick and choose man…
I agree with Joe nobody wanna hear jcole opinion about a battle be opted out of
J fold have a track record we can go by now!! Going back from hating in soundtrack rappers. They way he handled kanye. The soulja boy shit. Not Kenny & drake. Niggas really be getting away with fuck shit because they got bars. P.s I love the song but facts is facts
Don’t forget NoName & Wale
💯 . But J fold I gotta use that one 😂😂
Who is on J cole level that he wants to see him rap with? He did one with drake, Daylyt, joyner.
Daylyt feat isnt being on a track with someone being challenged? Cmon son
they dont actually listen to cole which i wish they'd just say tbh instead of spinning narratives
Cole damn near single handedly created this big 3 conversation. You never hear Drake or Kendrick mentioning it, but Cole repeatedly rapped about it. He went from “they threw the bronze at me” to “I feel like I’m Mohamed Ali”. At the beginning he seemed to be just happy to be mentioned with the other 2 and at some point he wanted to challenge them for the crown. He can rap as well as anyone but he doesn’t have enough crossover hits. His decision making in the last few months didn’t help.
Let Cole live jeez lmao it's very easy to be critical when you aren't living another person's life. Are you this critical and cautious about your decisions?
@@brebanks6241 I don’t think I’m being critical at all, just stating what I’ve observed. It may seem like everyone is piling up on him at the moment but I believe everything I stated is factual. This is what comes with being in the limelight. He’ll be okay.
He’s never felt like he was 3rd himself.
“The best nigga breathing, it just failed to hit you. You couldn’t tell cause you fell for the bells and whistles”
The guy in green fit...you asleep 😂😂
"The hardest thing to be is yourself, especially when everyone is watching." We get lost, tricked out of our position, get caught up in 💩, or we do things we later regret. He's just able to admit it.
All you Clowns talking bout soft are the problem....JB is a Buster....Prove me wrong. I'll wait
J. Cole always rapping about rapping instead of just rapping lol
Honestly he could've stayed out of it. Or thrown a friendly jab and just kept it pushing. Now he has to backpedal and backtrack. If you claim you are the best and want to turn this whole thing into a competition, then you can't just back out after jumping in like that. It makes you look weak. He went on this feature run exalting himself as the best rapper alive, but when it was time to go against the best rappers he jumped in and then backed out. Should've let it stay between them. Nobody was looking for a cole response because we all knew how much K dot HATES Drake
Anyone know what brand of sunglasses Joe is wearing???
We love you Joe 💯
Never thought I'd see the day where someone would lose points because they rap too good.
I like the song.
So people wanted cole to be fake like all the others and kick drakes back in but I respect he stood on business
How are they fake tho? Ppl can dislike other ppl and be genuine about it lol. Nobody even expected this song we was just waiting for The Fall Off.
Grippy was not a tough feature from Cole. They ride Cole so hard I don’t get it
I don’t understand people’s issue with Cole. He’s cool with Drake and Kendrick. Kendrick is calling Drake a pedophile, and a dead beat father, while Drake is calling Kendrick a woman beater and his wife is getting smashed. How does Cole fit in that if he’s cool with both of them. He could have the best diss lyrically out of all of them but he doesn’t match their disrespect he doesn’t have a shot. So people want Cole to go that route just to win a battle? lol Makes no sense.
Dude in green waffling 😂😂
Cole is in his bag, he's great and I love the fact that he bowed out and came out that battle unscathed!🎆
He came out looking the weakest
He’s rapping but what is he really saying? He’s always talking gun talk and bravado rap, but he’s barely saying anything with substance anymore. Theres moments yeah, but the depth is lacking for me. Part of great writing isn’t always about the words you use, it’s how you put words together that impact and affect people in a certain way. J Cole got caught up in proving that he can rap after people kept saying he was sleepy etc, and now he’s lost a part of him that made him who he was in the beginning.
"absurd times where the fake is toted as wise" true
Featured with Drake twice and Benny the Butcher within the last couple years but he not rapping with nobody on his level?
Song is dope and he spitting until he brings up the issues and how his pen is fire and he is a gun. Like bruh stop. Just say you are a dope spitter. But talking peace and bringing up beef in the same song is talking out two sides of your neck with soft subs too
Drama queens mad Cole didn’t get into the drama 😂😂😂
Cole a real one for that.
As much as I appreciate the failed New York rapper turned Podcaster named Joseph he needs to respectfully keep Coles name out his mouth. Aint nothing soft about a guy like Cole
Joe Budden is just a hater
They keep talking bout him rapping on a looped dead presidents beat like that something special. J.Cole has a whole song where he's rapping on the actual dead presidents beat on his The Warm Up Mixtape. And he murdered that whole song, its called Dead Presidents II , it's no surprise that j.cole murdered the port Antonio song
This is what's wrong with brothers period, Cole is on another level that none of them can do on that show.
Parks really a producer man I respect it but that’s the least of the problems to be discussed 😭😭😭😭
Yeah I been on Cole side this whole time but coming out with this attitude and these particular words changes my mind ..it’s not a good look
The sample was Cleo sol
Everyone overlooking the Ceol Sol loop, "know you are loved" the live version.
I'm probably the only one that hated that flip.
@@djturner-smith6380 true, Cleo is great i think it's fits the message Cole is trying send.
He's not battling because he's "mature"
He does features with weaker rappers to "challenge himself"
It takes a grown man to "walk away"
He's putting "friendship first" but that "friend" is the one who dissed him in the first place
ANYMORE EXCUSES FOR THIS BOY?
Benny, JID, Daylyt, and ab soul are weak rappers? Did you even listen to the song or are you choosing to be ignorant?
@alexvaldez6924 Did YOU even watch the video? Lol. Those features were not discussed. You so anxious to jump on Cole's balls you got ahead of yourself. Real emcees don't back down and damn sure don't apologize. It has ALWAYS been that way. Only brand new softeeboyz have a problem with this. And before you even start, THEY ARE NOT FRIENDS. K Dot dissed him first you Stanley.
@alexvaldez6924 he choosing violence by calling a grown black man a boy!
Thank you they cape for j Cole soooo much
THANK YOU!! That SAME friend is the one who dissed him 🤣 but you wanna save the relationship and blame the culture for gassing you up for the beef?? Corny.
J Cole = J Mole
Cole doesn't want to be part of the beef because it's becoming personal it's not just fun and games anymore on some hip-hop stuff.
For the people who think Cole and Kendrick could've had a calm rap battle. Can I ask how when the whole jumping off point was kendrick thinking cole clicked up with the guy who he does have 10 yr beef with? How does that not get personal if they look like they run together? I dont even think cole gets a stray on any record if hes not on fps cuz hes already mentioned kendrick and drake together and said hes the best before on Heavens EP in 2021 with no issues, he just wasnt on a song and tour with drake.
Even though I know it pains me but I do agree with joes sentiment about the big 3 debate if we go back to heavens E.P Cole explains how he felt he was handed the bronze behind drake and Kendrick so it’s very obvious that Cole in some regard was bothered by how he perceived his position in that conversation, Cole had the opportunity to prove why he’s worthy for number one which I really do think he is worthy but he chose not to for understandable reasoning but I don’t think Cole was okay with just being regarded as anything other than 1
Nah man, I disagree with this take. Cole was not soft hip hop at all on this track. I feel like @jcole delivered first and second verse
