Y’all are saying you want fire music but keep forgetting that the money needed to really make that fire doesn’t exist. Purely from a business standpoint, the music isn’t making enough money to justify the costs of making fire. Y’all can complain about the quality of the music but the fact of the matter is there isn’t enough money coming in to justify spending what is needed to make fire. We’re all at fault for this to some degree or another. Do I want artists to make the best stuff they can make? Hell yes! Will they? Probably not because the ends don’t justify the means. If you don’t have the pockets of Joe Budden or the budgets of Drake, JayZ, and Eminem and all the other household names then you’re doing some mediocre shit most of the time because the money isn’t there to spend time locked away in a studio for weeks and weeks while you work on ideas uninterrupted. Granted that’s assuming we’re talking about actual artists and not 15 minute fame chasers and most of what’s out there now it’s just fame chasers who never wanted to be in music but are using it as a vehicle to do other stuff.
Fire albums or music are the cheapest. They are usually from an artist's debut or sophomore outing before the big money. Today content is supreme to quality. That's why artists have 30albums in 10years😂 with no or minimal 'fire'. Look at Drake after Views....
It’s not just rap it’s every genre. But the labels are responsible hence music festivals are pairing country artist with rappers. That doesn’t even make sense…
@aironenise why does everyone assume to know what it is, When their is no quote from any of the artists as to what actually caused it. Whole battle Kendrick didn't actually say what his issue with Drake was. Ross said he didn't clear French songs, but the label clears features. No one has actually said why they fell out with him.
The more abundant is the product, the least valuable it is. It's too many artists around the world these days to value their music. Going back to rarity and quality might increase the value of music.
Honestly, Kendrick vs Jay would be 100x more interesting. We've heard Jay and Drake take shots at each other. It's mostly just slick talk and 'Im super rich/super successful' lines. I honestly have no idea what angle Kendrick & Jay would take with each other.
“Just give me the music and get out my way, ‘that part’ ‘let it be fire please’, that’s it, I missed the artist that put out some fire shit, no antics, no bullshit, they just let us get to it”. You have that artist already; his name is Kendrick Fucking Lamar!!!
Honestly I just need to avoid mainstream in general. All the popular songs are toxic or low quality. What’s an album these days and I’m just too tired to hunt down new slaps.

When they stopped doing ARTIST DEVELOPMENT. it started going down hill!
I’m developed
🎯
Facts bruh I told folks we need to bring it back
All artists that go through Artist Development are called Industry Plants nowadays.
It was dying since mp3 files became the to transfer music.
Remember back in the day the the only way to hear a full album was having the disc or a concert.
When music got turned into files and uploaded, artist started uploading their whole album.
You cant not really sell music when buying is only a suggestion. None of have to pay anything.
Lack of artist development, streaming, and social media killed the industry. Over exposed so stars don't feel like stars. Plus the every man can become something tomorrow with 1 viral post.
I don't think it's that complex. I think there's only so far ignorant BS music can go. Black men aren't on that wave anymore. This is why Kendrick is #1. As folks get older, they want music that makes them look good not that clown BS.
Right on the nose with this one!
That was the PLAN. They just weren't suppose to RUIN the damn INDUSTRY to achieve that LOL. At least we're here now. All that remains is to fix the INDUSTRY and we'll be good to go. Now we'll have the VIRALs and the BRED.
LACK OF ARTIST DEVELOPMENT! People don’t talk about that enough!
Artist Development was such an integral and important part of why music production used to be SOOOOOO POLISHED AND WELL DONE!
You summed it up beautifully. Rather than focusing on making good music and building a certian aura around yourself, you have to be up on social media everyday performing antics like a clown to boost engagement and stay relevant. Back in the day you felt like you owned the world while holding a physical copy of your favorite artist cassette/CD.
I gotta work 80 hours a week to keep up and still behind. Just a couple decades you could rent a place and start a band on a part time job...
Bingo
Yup. Same conclusion in every industry. It’s cooked
The industry has bin ruined. Rappers don’t write, musicians don’t play any instruments, singers can’t belt. Just industry plants now.
rappers not writing is the only bad one. michael jackson barely played any instruments and paul mccartney (or any of the beatles for that matter) could barely belt mellifluously. stop this foolishness 😂
Nah! the singers can't belt!!!! Preach
Not true
All the GOOD singers are underground. They are everywhere on Spotify with 300 monthly listeners. People ignore them because they ain't "hot". 99% of the most talented artist of all genres are underground and ignored. Yall have to go seek them out.
@@bambinojas yeah people who say things like this r just lazy. jazmine sullivan, joshua levi, jaden gray, james vickery, renee rapp, lola young, all small artists who can sang to save your life. even biggies like mariah, celine, brandy, j hud, ariana, demi, sam smith. all amazing vocalists active today.
Music evolves and there's no new sound to create. 🤷🏽♂️

the music industry, Celebrities & the Entertainment industry as a whole, was ruined the moment they overly intertwined with social media. it destroyed the balance, cause it allowed any & everyone to have a voice. then everyone became friendly & stopped competing 💯

being 37 and still caring about "the cool table" is some of the saddest shit I can think of..
being sad that people don't fuck with you in your late 30s is horrible.
It’s not about the cool table. That’s a metaphor. Idc how old you are, having a lot of people you considered your friends all day fuck you would hurt anybody. I dealt with it myself in the music industry. We’re all human at the end of the day
If you ain’t at cool or the cool table in hiphop then what are you doing. Hip-Hop has always been about being cool, fly, hip and in the know.
@@ArchThaBoss I get it's a metaphor.. but honestly having *anything* in your life at 37 that can still be analogous to "the cool table" is sad.

Like solid.. like trustworthy.. like interesting.. like.. any number of other factors that matter way more in real life.

It's a business. In most instances nobody is your friend.
Exactly!!!
You can apply to life in general
Huh?? There is plenty of great music being made underground with limited budgets.
Fire albums or music are the cheapest. They are usually from an artist's debut or sophomore outing before the big money.

To me, the issue with the music industry, is it started to have nothing to do with talent. You could have a hit record with just the right producer and the right backing/money behind you, and how the label wanted to push you, and get you plenty of radio air time. You also have to do certain things(xxx) to get access to the label wanting to make you a star, as we are seeing with the like of P Diddy. All the truly talented people told Diddy “NO”…
I can't believe how awesome this turned out!

Drake definitely does not need to stop making music. Not until he stops selling tour tickets and his new music stops doing worthwhile numbers consistently.

Drake tried to battle with a story teller, bad move.
he was telling stories alright
@@Nightizmcope 😂
@@Nightizm Exactly. They BOTH lied but Kendrick just makes pro black raps so black people felt compelled to take his side. The race card disguised as 'culture' was used. And old industry grudges from 'industry dudes' (Joe Budden, Ebro etc) took place to get their licks in against Drake to make it SEEM like Kendrick did something when he actually got out rapped CLEARLY.
@@onyxonyx4744 Kendrick is just the better rapper and wasn't even done with Drake. The battle was a Toronto Queer Pimp vs a Compton thug that lives and breathes rap. Only one winner coming out from that.
Do many Blacks misunderstand KDot as this woke rapper? Yes, but KDot is FAR from that. Most of his music is actually critical of Black folks and himself, if you listen well.
@onyxonyx4744 Reducing one of the most nuanced discographies in rap to "pro black music" and seeing the lyrical deconstruction on Kendrick's part as "the race card" is ironically the reason the homie lost so embarrassingly, and reinforces the narrative low key😂.

This is Hip-Hop ❤
I agree with Joe on Drake being bad with cerebral emcees.
In both bouts he had with Push/Kendrick, his technical raps are on par with them, but it's the next level of thought that ultimately leaves Drake in the dust.
His battle raps are BETTER than them. What you mean is, Pusha and Kendrick use 'shock value' content to disguise the fact that they CAN'T keep up with Drake lyrically and only people who Rap and don't have a weird vendetta against him can see this. If Kendrick doesn't make a hit record he loses this EASILY perception wise even with all of the Drake hate.
@onyxonyx4744 I disagree. A battle rap is more than just being able to rap good. It's also about angles you take alongside rapping good. Calicoe vs Loaded Lux is the best example.
Can yall link the other host socials in the description like Joe's is?
