I reckon that may have been filmed at Catterick, Yorkshire where I understand that Geoff Duke, legendary British motorcycle racer, was based. My father did his basic training there as a despatch rider before going to India in 1945. At that time proper roads were something of a luxury!
Hi Nicola, Great to hear that I captured your grandad in Normandy a few years ago. Sadly, I heard that he passed away, don't know if this is correct. Can you elaborate about your grandads exploits during WWII?
@@MrBigHealey after returning from Dunkirk most of his regiment were sent to Burma but because he could ride a motorcycle (he was a successful trials rider before the war) and could drive he then got to spend the rest of the war riding around Yorkshire and the Lake District. This film would of been recorded in North Yorkshire not Normandy. We also have the films on DVD, they will also be held at the Imperial War Museum. He rode a works Norton in Trails post War too.
@@nicola3722 Thanks for your story of your grandad, Of course it is not Normandy, I confused it with another short video I have on my RUclips channel (of an elderly man who was a dispatch rider) I filmed in Normandy a few years ago. Again thanks for your comment!
My Grandfather Was a British Dispatch Rider and drove off the Juno Beach during the D day landing on his motorbike with the Canadians

My great grandfather was a dispatch rider in ww2, he lost his life when his bike collided with a wagon on a very foggy day/night im not too sure
that road at 19:28 to 19:47 is the skipton road A59 between Embsay and Blubberhouses......
I thought it looked familiar. Thanks
The rider in this film is my Grandad

I feel very lucky to be able to see my Grandad as a much younger man than I ever knew him in these films.
