Interesting that this popped up. I was just thinking it would be cool to hear Perry do something with Rik. They were both so great, very emotive singers and both aging gracefully.
Steve is a very complimentary guy. He is quick to see excellence in others talents. He was a consistent singer who from 1975 till 1986 sustained high notes and belted out songs with power and ease. You sounded good then and now.
Awesome interview. I love it when you see these legends are happy and still have it all together. And a massively underrated voice. One of the very greatest of all time. Right there with Steve Perry and almost no one else.
Rose Bowl, July 2, 1982. It was Aldo Nova, Blue Oyster Cult, Triumph and Journey played in that order. At least 80,000 people and one of the first times the huge video screens were used. Journey was and is my love of my life beyond words, but Triumph was my second favorite, topping over Queen. It was such a dream day. Things got even better, much better, in terms of my Journey experiences, and I saw Triumph again one more time. That Allied Forces album is a fixed soundtrack of my teenage years, and Magic Power really is Magic Power. 📻🎶🥰🎵🪄 Great to hear from "THE" Rik Emmett. Always will be in my very top favorites. Thanks for all of it.

I remember when MTV had kicked off. We would wait for the Triumph videos. Loved them!! If he wenton stage and only did "Say Goodbye", my youth fantasies would be fulfilled! Wind blown hair... what a time that was.
Rick sounds great! Glad to hear the Triumph guys are close again...great records! Wonder if Rick still has the Jan Akkermann Framus he played back in the day?
I enjoyed this and thank you for posting it. Rik is a humble and generally affable guy but he wants and needs to put the record straight once and for all about why he left Triumph and what really transpired between him and the other guys. He has been building to it for years and hopefully he will be clear about it in his upcoming memoir. I know he has renewed his friendship with Gil and Mike and he has cooperated with all things Triumph but from dozens of interviews over the years it is apparent that there was psychological trauma on his part towards the end of their partnership. For his own sake and our curiosity I hope he puts it out there.
Blair, why was Rik's explanation on leaving Triumph edited? Seemed to me he was really opening up but we never heard it. Another side note was Rik said the hair bands took over. Their were plenty of bands in Triumph's era that continued ahead. I think there was more to it than Rik's opinion. I wish they took a break and got back at it. I watched the documentary which Rik had said some things were not told. Probably ones he felt should have been more of what he wanted to have spoken about.
@@SM-bm6jo I agree but he started to talk about publishing and never explained what his beef was. Little by little Rik brings up things he was upset with but doesn't elaborate. I would like to hear Gil Moore's take.
It's so sad that there are fake people out there pretending to be Steve Perry. They are begging for steam cards, cell phones, and other stuff. I'm blocking all Steve Perry pages. Quit listening to the music as well. Something really needs to be done about this.

Not only was Rik a monster guitar 🎸 player but a great singer.
Triumph and Journey at the Rose Bowl. WOW. Where’s that hot tub time machine when you need it lol.

I heard estimates that 100,000 were actually squeezed in there. Who knows, tho.
@@RustyHinge Yea, I heard 100k. First time I saw Journey was that day. Great day. My ticket cost $12.50
9:06 Journey
9:33 "Steve Perry comes to me. This is the, you know, 'Dont Stop Believin' guy 😆." - Rik Emmett
Steve's just so humble & sweet ❤️‼️

Thanks for posting these videos of your conversation with Rik Emmett... My favorite guitarist of all time.
Saved by love, when a heartbreaks. Saw them at the US festival and the Rose bowl. So many great tunes. Incredible guitarist & vocalist
I think Rik still sounds great! The fans would love hearing him again. A lower key would definitely sound great in all of his songs.
My first concert was TRIUMP when I was 11. I won the tickets from our local Pembroke radio station.
Loved them!

He is edited because he is all over the map rambling but saying nothing.

The older I get the better I was.
