My wife and I were on the same guided tour as you. This was our first-ever birding event. We enjoy viewing your videos. Funny to see both of us in this video. Keep up the great content; we love it.
I know Raymond! I've birded with him quite a few times. Not as part of a tour, but just as a fellow birder here in New Mexico (he is from Albuquerque). He is a phenomenal birder and has a great eye and ear. In fact, he is personally responsible for several birds on my life list that I may not have spotted otherwise. I'm glad he was able to spot one for you. I don't have that species on my list as of yet. Congratulations!
That shot with the three different species (mocking bird was one) was amazing! I'm so glad that some people have found financial benefit to keeping land pristine- just offer bird tours!
Congrats! Can't say I didn't cringe seeing people walking through the brush to look at the owl after you mentioned ticks though. The things we birders do to see birds. :D
Thank you for sharing this... I was on the King Ranch looking for them in April, 2023 without luck. Our guide stopped for our picnic lunch at the exact spot where you found them! I'm definitely going to work on getting back there very soon!
Good morning 🌅 to you two from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. OWLS 🦉 are nocturnal birds, and it’s so amazing that you two were able to spot these OWLS 🦉 in broad daylight 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good evening from the USA! Friend, you're mistaken. Owls (Barred, Great Horned) are readily spotted in day light hours here in rural & towney (pop. 40k) southern Wisconsin U.S.A., especially when they are hunting day & night to feed their young. The first owl we saw decades ago here was in the dark driving a 2 lane "country" rd. near a 6 lane Interstate highway. All the other owls since we've see in day light, in flight & perching within substantial trees (as recently as last week, what we guessed was a breeding pair of Horneds; the female was massive! SO COOL!
Wow, super cool! (I'm also entranced by the Harris's hawks lol , I haven't hit the desert at all so all desert/southern birds would be exciting for me.) Excellent luck and sound-triangulation skills!
When I lived in Palenque Mexico, a group of 6 of these hung out in our backyard every night for about a week, often on a branch just above our door. Such cool birds! You can see a video I got of one of them on my channel if you're interested.
I’m booked for April 4 2025 seven in our group, it seems like you guys are a few months before or after my planed trips which cameras did you use most for video?
Some of the Owl footage was from our friend Chris who uses a Canon R6 II I believe? Some of our I shot with the OM-1 Mark II with the 150-600mm lens and Ryan was shooting with the Panasonic LUMIX FZ-80. If you have a specific clip in mind I can tell you what it was shot with

@@Oltoir yeah wasn’t that a wild combo???
@@BadgerlandBirding It really was!
It's almost like the owl decided "eh, today I will be a supermodel!" That big ol' wing stretch made me grin the most :D
Haha loves the limelight
Very nice of the King Ranch to allow this. Glad to see you abroad and on the road...but glad when you come home!!
Yeah it was very cool!
I went birding for my birthday today. Added 12 lifers including a beautiful Chickadee finally 👌
Awesome! Happy belated birthday!

King Ranch is a great place to go when I went to South Texas in 2010 I was on their tour th was when the best days of birding ever .
I’m assuming you guys got the owl too??
Congrats! Can't say I didn't cringe seeing people walking through the brush to look at the owl after you mentioned ticks though. The things we birders do to see birds. :D
There are a lot of things in the grass you don't want, haha. Ticks, mosquitos, chiggers, sand burrs!

WOW ! So glad to know you two had such great opportunities to spot these owls in the daytime 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Different species hunt at different times so this one was actually out hunting during the day!
Great 👍🏻 Thank you 🙏 for your information. I don’t know much about owls 🦉…
@@markshen3280 Which owls do you have out in Hong Kong?
Great video, so many fantastic birds, THANKS A LOT!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, guys. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool! Loved the head bobbing! 🤣
I saw several ferruginous pygmy owls on a birding trip to Honduras in 2018. They are really neat.
Awesome!
Great video!
Thanks!
Saw that little beauty at the King Ranch around 2000. Also, many snakes.
@@BDCF100 dang! We didn’t see any snakes
@@BadgerlandBirding Wife and I got 8 in about 30 minutes. We were there in May.
One of the local park rangers where I live in NC was out there with you guys.
Awesome!
Any Tropical Parula? I think that is one of the few places that has them in the US
Some people in the group had one at the ranch but alas we didn’t see it ourselves.
Really enjoyed the vid. ty. nesting pigmy head rotated 90 ° along y axis, lol.
Haha glad you enjoyed it!
That was fun to watch! I also recently sent you a Christmas card.
Thanks, Nathan! Looking forward to seeing it!
