ICONIC Esports Moments: Doublelift's Lucian Outplay (LoL)

  • Riot Games want League of Legends to be a game about teamwork.
    They want victory to look like five players, working in perfect cohesion, communicating constantly, and as they’ve balanced it to emphasize that. Riot has moved away from letting one player carry entire games, and the best teams in the world have built themselves to take advantage of that.
    But sometimes all the design choices in the world can’t stop an incredible player from stepping up to the plate at a point where everything seems lost.
    Sometimes, one player does something so incredible that nothing else matters.

    You forgot to mention fully that Lucian wasn't meta during that time. Plus the 11k damage in a single fight.

  • @AvaPlaya13

    Failed to mention that he dealt over 11,000 damage in that fight.

    I still remember that day watching it live with my friends. We were HYPED AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This teamfight was PERFECTLY executed from DL. He saved up his Flash until the very last second. Even tho he got threatened by Gnar earlier, he remained calm, focused and perfectly executed all his animation cancels, combos, kiting and decision making.
    He dealt over 10k+ dmg in this fight. In a game were you usually have 40 - 60k dmg as a carry. Thats insane!! Perfect play and with his back against the wall.
    Salty haters can say whatever they want. I became a doublelift fan that day even though I was a C9 fan and wanted them to win. This man shook me. He's the reason I started playing Lucian and will forever be the best ADC in the West. Simple.

    I always appreciated how Hauntzer plays this so correctly. It’s obviously not mechanically difficult what he does, but the way he just body blocks for Doublelift and basically forces Jensen to go for that high-risk flash Seismic Shove was very important. I hope people notice that and remember that you don’t always have to make the flashy play.

      Using one ultimate in a one specific time vs playing on a knife's edge to win domestic championship, if tsm played well on world's stage you wouldn't say that this play is not memorable enough.

    • @vulcairn5058
      @vulcairn5058 6 лет назад +2

      14przemoIO It was one ultimate on a very important game against the absolute favorite of their group, to make out of groups in front of their region ...
      It's not winning a Championship but it's the same level of epicness than this one.

    • @Krogns
      @Krogns 6 лет назад +3

      absolute favorite but still the worse in their group. xpeke's ultimate relied in their enemy's mistake and the sole mistake from the enemy team in doublelift's play is taliyah flashing for him but he dodged, used allies as shield and didn't stop dealing damage for the big majority of the play. For me this is one of the greatest ''micro'' plays ever made.

    Why does this play deserve a dedicated video? It's a great teamfight and some nice kiting from Doublelift, don't get me wrong. But there are equally impressive plays, on way bigger stages than the NA LCS. I get that for marketing appeal they have to be western, so here are some better plays against international competition on LoL's biggest stage, Worlds. Febiven's LeBlanc vs AHQ and the Tahm-Jinx combo with Fnatic barely winning the game with 3 inhibs down in 2015, Sneaky and LemonNation's 2v2 versus the Samsung Blue botlane, Xpeke's 1v1 versus Dade or his Orianna shockwave against LGD, Soaz's pentakill against FW, TSM's game versus SSG in 2016 and altough it's MSI and not Worlds, Perkz's nasty Fizz-play at baron pit against the best wild card team ever GBM.

      i think the reason why they made a video about this isnt just because doublelift played this flawlessly, he truly played out of his mind that teamfight, but the facts that this happened after a split of almost perfect winratio, 3-0 CLG, and the fact that this exact play was way more mechanically and pure skill reliant makes this one of the most impressive solo peformances by a player worldwide. ofc, korea can do better, china aswell but u cant deny that this play is just beautiful to watch

      Also Jensen literally flashed directly into the culling and died immediately, this was a decent play but not worthy of an iconic Esports moment.

    TSM let go of Biofrost and Svenskeren bcuz of their jg sup synergy, after putting in Grig/Mikeyeung and mithy, and it got even worse. And got Zven becuz he already had synergy with Mithy.

    It's sad because they win against c9. Tsm gets placed into an easy group and they lose. C9 gets placed in the hardest fucking groups ever and makes it 3rd place. How tf does that make sense.

    I think it was good play but i still feel like it was more of a missplay/overagression by c9/jensen. I also think this play is a little overhyped because of what crazy of a moment it was

    • @clips4cultureyt
      @clips4cultureyt 6 лет назад

      DamnMaad Doublift mechanically executed it perfectly. it isnt over agression for jensen as normally that would just be a clean swipe but dlift patiently played that fight and did all of it perfectly. he did 10k damage that fight. for someone to do thst much damage in one fight is insane because normally adcs end games with 40-60k damage. it wad doublelifts amazing patience and perfect mechanical execution that won that fight and i feel there was no over agressiom they just couldnt account for how long doublelift managed to keep himself alive
