Sorry but this needs to be rated as pure guitar porn.
lol. That's what I was going for. I just lost my PG rating.
NSFW
@@timsway "I just lost my PG rating."
Yes you did broham, you went from "pretty good" to WICKED AWESOME!
Jack ~'()'~
Somewhere in a paraller universe there's guy making skateboards out of recycled guitars. Nice work Mr. Sway.
I hope so...
Made using old skateboards? I think we just found the ultimate pop punk guitar
Beautiful. I really dig the fingerboard, that's new. Your friend can play! Now we definitely have evidence, the key to guitar tone is practice.
indeed!
That pattern on the back of the neck is just soo nice.
Skateboard - Ecology - Music. Real and pure love for all this video
Once again Tim proves that the "tonewood snobs" don't know what they are talking about when that talk about electric guitars.
Another good one Tim!
Wait... tonewood people believe that a non-wood guitar just wouldn’t make any sound at all?
@@hughtubecube No, just that it isn't capable of making *good* sound unless it's some "mystical" combination of special woods...
It's maple. Most skateboards are made out of 7 ply maple
pileofstuff - Well the way you describe it, it definitely sounds like they’re all batshit crazy lunatics...
By the way, look up the meaning of strawman arguments when you get home 😊
There’s a video somewhere on YT of a guy that uses the same pickups and installs them on pressure treated pine, regular pine and some “tone wood” I can’t remember what it was. There was no noticeable difference in sound. If you’re talking about acoustic guitars then yes, Wood makes a huge difference. Electric guitars it’s really the pickups and electronics that are responsible for the tone.
Very nice build, and I love how used the colored layers to your advantage.
thanks!
My gawd this is goooooooodddddd!!!!
cheers, bro! You did the hard work on the neck. I just did the glory lap :)
Awesome build, sounds really great too. Love that clear acrylic body with the colorful skateboard accents. Excellent work :)
thanks man!
I wish I had the ash to get you to make one of my designs. I'd love to see your take on some of them.
Thank you again Tim awesome guitar and thank you Eric for the good music.
Love the look of that guitar. Especially the patterning on the back of the neck. I love to recycle stuff into musical instruments etc too, so this is a double hit of pleasure for me.
Bravo!
That was outstanding!!! The Guitar & The Music!!!
The build & the playing are both super stellar!!
The damn thing sounds great.
Acrylic plus a used skateboard equals a nice guitar well done and designed Tim and thanks
thank you!
Beautiful sounds on a beautiful piece. Well done, Tim. I got chills watching.
thanks cam!
Your guitar game is STRONG Tim. This is awesome!
thank you sir!
Very nice style and technique on the guitar playing. Jaw dropper for sure . That guitar is sick with coolness . Stunning video !
Good stuff. Amazing what good 5h1t some people throw out. Thanks for the video Tim. Cheers, David.
Can you dig it? Absolutely!!!
That guy plays great. Lot of open string chords. Very nice 👍
That came out fantastic Tim. Great job.
Tim you are a true artist! I love your imagination and creativity.
Guitar going out of tune aside... Everything else about this video is awesome. Looks great. Sounds even better. My usual gripe about transparent body guitars that wiring tends to clutter up an otherwise clean look, but that issue was solved nicely with more skateboard wood. Seems totally backwards, but I love it. lol
This sounds whit more low ends that the pallet guitar. Very nice too. 🏄🏼♂️
Tone Acrylic!!!!! Awesome guitar and it was great to meet you at the NortheAst Guitar show in Danbury!!!
cheers man!
Nice build Tim. Eric sounds really good...
This one looks and sounds fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Ben's work and this was a wonderful marriage of your two styles. Looking forward to seeing his guitar build. And you found a new use for vinyl records. 😁 Really cool touch there. I really enjoyed Eric's playing on this and am headed over to watch the other video next. Thanks for sharing!
thanks Seth! You gotta be careful cutting records on the laser as the fumes are damaging to metal and humans, but it is a good plastic and readily available.
Can't believe I forgot to mention those pickups. Absolutely killer!
Mate how cool is that! 👍🏽
You both have amazing skills. 👌🏽
Let us know how Woby gets on with his kit. 😉
Cool guitar, and I love the guitar playing. Puts me in mind of SRV’s “Lenny”, which is still my favorite song of his.
Wow, looks like you building skills are hitting a whole new level. Guitar sounds great! Very, very cool build.
Great mixture of materials!
I have to make two necks like that now. The glitchy effect it has is just perfect for me
I made a matching guitar where the fingerboard is made from these pieces and the neck from other laminates. You can see it at newperspectivesmusic.com
As always cool video. I like the colors and contrast they give to the clear acrylic.
I never get tired of things being drilled into acrylic. It just looks so cool.
I liked the trend in the 90’s of electronics (such as watches and beepers) that we’re in clear cases and you could see the insides and what was going on in there. I guess I still like that look.
Nice to see someone found a truly good reuse for an old Herb Alpert LP.
Outstanding Tim! Another great video and guitar.
thanks!
Great work! Very cool to see the sectional perspective on how the components work on the inside. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Wow......mind blown!!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
One of my favorites yet.
Looks great, sounds great... enough said.
fantastic guitar work
Looks awesome Tim, great job! 😍👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Rub Vaseline on the inside pockets, they will go from frosted to clear.
Also, put Vaseline on your drill bit (or thread taps) to stop it melting in and going frosted.
Really cool vid too, thanks for showing that. 👍👀
I will try that. I tried wd-40 but it didn't work.
@@timsway One big tip for acrylic is to avoid most of the frosting when cutting. You need a really new really sharp HSS cutting bit (endmill etc), and keep it cool and lubed when cutting especially the final wall cut on pockets. A 4 flute endmill is good. Never use a carbide bit or any tool that has been used on abrasive stock like wood or MDF.
To keep it cool and lubed you can use a mister, or even just a spray bottle with water and a few drops of detergent in it.
The frosting is because you get a micro-melt of the uncut surface when cutting and it rips it up. You have to do that final 1mm depth with a really really sharp and brand new tool, and spray lube it.
But if the frosting is not too bad than rubbing Vaseline into it works really well.
Acrylic is an incredible material to machine, like water-clear wood that doesn't have any of the grain problems. You just have to avoid any melt issues when cutting it. Metalworking guys with precise machines and good floodlube can cut it so it looks like polished glass, straight off the machine. I've just got a cnc router so need to be careful but a metalworking HSS 4flute endmill gets close. 🙂
@@wizrom3046 thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it. I found that running the cutter at pretty high speeds sort of heat polished it on the final pass, but I need to toy with stepover and depth, etc. to get the maximum benefits for sure. Vaseline going to get used on the next one for sure!
Man for real your guitars look great all i think they need is some slightly thinner head stocks
Tim, you just keep upping your guitar game. I’m digging the whole thing, but that neck is super sweet, especially the fret board. Great work!
thanks man!
Great Playing and super cool Guitar!
Beautiful job.
Tim, this was a great video. The guitar came out awesome. I hope you keep working with the same materials for a few more videos. There are so many things you can do.
On some of the Skateboards my brother has, the area just above the wheels is carved off in a way where multiple layers are exposed, and that area is just beautiful. I think that would look very interesting on a guitar.
In case I am not able to in the future, I wish you a very happy holiday season.
Thanks man! I'm making a skateboard fingerboard for another guitar (not filming bc too similar to this) but I'll be sharing pics on instagram, etc.
Such an awesome design. A guitar like this could certainly add layers to someone’s playing .........
groan... :)
I love everything you do Tim! You may not be kicking people in the head but you are definitely kicking people in the ear hole! You sir are punk! I’m old. I’m grey. But I too am punk. Thank you for your art. Would love to own a bass from you one day. Peace
I'd love to make you one. Thanks!
This is a darned cool guitar and a great build. I love that you used a record too!
I NEED THIS GUITAR IN MY LIFE!!! i may be shit at guitar after a few broken fingers but if i put trucks on it i may be able to do a HEEL FLIP!... this is EPIC!
you can hear all the tricks that were done successful and not in the tone of this guitar! its only appropriate that we get some punk skate music on this thing man. I CAN FEEL the energy of all those who have skated on this wood coming off the screen. this might be one of the most punk rock guitars ever made. the only thing better would be of you got Henry rollins to bleed on it and epoxy his blood into the acrylic

Awesome Brother, I love this and I can't wait till I can get my place cleaned up enough so I can try to build and recycle. Thank you for the inspiration.
cheers!
Dude!!! So fantastic!!!
Sweet tone! Very cool look!
Comes with a maple fretboard I see.
One of your best yet, Tim!
That is gorgeous in every way.
OMG what a beautiful guitar! Great job and video. Mahalo for sharing. : )
Eric made that thing sing! Just freakin' awesome all the way around.
Now that was a totally awesome guitar build Tim. I can see that you are definitely getting better with each follow up build. That guitar sounds awesome & just goes to show that it doesn't matter what materials the guitar is made of. Eric is one awesome guitar player for sure. Nicely done brother.............. :)
A guy like Eric can make anything sound good :)
Again you've outdone yourself man!!
thanks!
That is one of the most beautiful guitar shapes I' ve ever seen and I love the idea of recycled materials! If only that headstock shape was different...
cheers! What don't you like about the headstock? It's pretty generic, so I'm curious to hear.
@@timsway oh hey! cheers! well exactly that! it's generic... it doesn't add something to the overall design of the guitar. the body shape is gorgeous and i think a headstock with an equally unique/ 'strong' design would accentuate the guitar's character.
anyway... just my opinion... i love what you promote with your builds and looking forward for more interesting new instruments
@@b.b.4944 cheers. It's real easy to go "too far" with guitar designs and IMO headstock are the worst on most boutique and custom instruments because the makers get too "creative" . I'm still erring on the side of caution in that department. Lol
@@timsway Totally agree with you. It's so weird how such a small piece of the build can change the whole shape of an instrument... Anyway. In the end it's about what pleases you (the creator).
But if you are intrested in experimenting with it's shape how about trying tiny changes? This will help you with not going "too far" and still keep the character of the initial design. May i suggest something that goes along with the angle of the upper horn?
Yeah the body shapes really nice it’s kind of like a cross between a Musicman Albert Lee and a St Vincent.
So so so cool guitar Tim, love it!!
How did I miss this? What an awesome guitar, sound great Tim! Damn! Eric kills!
Jack ~'()'~
You never fail to entertain me Tim! The guitars you build sound so great, and look awesome too! I like the idea of making guitars out of stuff that guitars aren’t usually made of!
Thank you!
tim sway no problem
Nice build! Sounds great also, and he's a real terrific player!
Thankyou Tim, well done,
Congrats making it into guitar world!
thanks for letting me know! I had no idea.
@@timsway np, I opened Google and said to myself, "I've seen this nail guitar somewhere...."
Great guitar,it has a great sound.Great Video. Thanks. I will also check out your other channel to learn more. Thanks.
The acrylic and skateboard are awesome!!
Work of art. Sounds great too. Congrats!!
You're an excellent artist you're awesome Tim!
Paul Toth of Toth Stringed Instruments........does abide.... Very Cool
I love the colours, that's really really cool. Horary for recycling!
That is really cool. It has a nice growl to it.
Ooh, you did that to Herb! :(
Poor Herb, down with the struggle
Interesting build. Thanx for the show. Very Kool
This is so freaking cool! Should call it the "ollie model" or the "kickflip".
It looks really good, sounds great too. Desk acrylic makes really good tone wood. 😉
yea it does. cheers!
Npt gonna lie... It'd be pretty sick to use the axel holes as the new screw holes for the neck!
SWEET!
Could you make a guitar out of other broken guitars? You could call it anduril.
I certainly have used lots of used guitar parts n other builds but I love the idea of going full meta with it!
Although it would be a reforged axe rather than a sword.
That is one amazing guitar.
thank you!
I would murder for a bass version of this
instead of spending your life in jail over it, I could just make one you one... newperspectivesmusic.com
That's badass.
Sweet tone
Very cool. Great sound. I have to assume some of that great sound is coming from Eric Ieraci's great fingers. The guitar doesn't seem to impede him in any way. Great playing.
cheers. check out our interview on my other channel
You should check out prisma guitars. They make all their custom guitars out of used skateboards
i just love that shape
thanks! The Astola is my fav original design to date, but I am redesigning my "Frontman" model and it's looking pretty cool... :)
@@timsway looking forward to it :)
Cool project! Those pickups turned out great also. Very open, yet still meaty. From the slugs I'm guessing they were originally an old set of Invaders or Super Distortion. Just a guess, but it looks/sounds like the were modded to be single coil/dummy coil coil pairs. Whatever you did the guitar sounds great.
custom wind by geminipickups.com thanks!
You have such a cool channel man! Thanks for sharing! This is one of my favs✌🏽
thank you!
Very nice Eric, now lets see you pull a '720 gazelle flip' on it!
hahaha!
Damn Tim!!!
I really like this one a lot. Very nice!!
Very cool guitar...
Love you videos Tim! Keep em comin ;)
