How do we measure food inflation in Canada?

On average, after shelter costs, Canadians allocate the second-largest portion of their budget toward food purchases.
To best understand food #inflation and the price change experienced by Canadians, the #ConsumerPriceIndex mainly uses retail scanner data (prices straight from the till!)-the gold standard in food price collection.
