@@minaaza7523 I've been using them in the park where it's really smooth and it's been ok, the toe stopped kinda gets worn down but you can always buy a new one (:

NO ONE should skate an adjustable skate. When on inlines, those types of boots are fine. On roller skates...you NEED your ankle to move. Buy a size (or two) larger and stuff the toe with lamb's wool (available at most dance studios) until the child says it feels comfortable and their foot doesn't slip. As they grow, remove bits of the wool until their feet do fit the skate...then...repeat the process with new skates until their feet stop growing. I've seen one too many kids with their ankles trapped in those types of boots who give up skating because once they do get real skates, it's "too hard", because they actually have to learn to skate all over again, now being able to use their ankle. P.S. There really is no beginner SKATE....only beginner skaters. Buy the skates you like! Cheap skates are just that...cheap. There's a huge difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive"...and there are PLENTY of great inexpensive skates out there. :)
@@merelskip1207 That really depends on where you are and what's available. in the U.S. - I'd go with Epic, Sure-Grip, Roller Derby brand, or one of the cheaper Riedell models. Unfortunately, being in the U.S., I'm not as familiar with other skate brands outside the States. That said, almost any skate can be ordered from anywhere in the world, but the shipping charges are often as much - if not more -than the skates themselves. :( The Moxi Beach Bunnies are much cheaper than the Lolly's or Jack's, but again, if you're not in the U.S., the shipping can be a bit steep. Just remember to look for a skate that fits with where you skate. If you're only planning on indoor skating (or mostly indoor), get an "indoor" skate...for only or mainly outdoor skating, look for an "outdoor" skate. Softer wheels = outdoor, harder wheels = indoor. Skateboard wheels can be found as low as a 70A durometer (look for ones around 62mm high or less to fit your skates), most outdoor roller skate wheels only go down to a 78A. Indoor wheels start around 92A and go up to a 103A, though there are "specialty" wheels, too - such as clay, wood, fiberglass (A.K.A. "Fibers" or just "glass"), and hybrids that aren't rated. The softer the wheel, the easier it is to get over debris (lots of gravel, sand or small twigs? Go for the 78A or even softer skateboard wheels). The harder the wheel, the more you'll slide on indoor rinks (which is great for artistic or dance if you want to get into either of those styles of skating at your local rink). Hope this helps! :)
@@mymelodymimi5924 You're welcome. I do recommend starting on the BEST pair you can afford...high top, low top, or mid-top...as long as it's not locking your ankle into place...and you like it....get it! :) I wouldn't pay much less than around $85 (U.S. dollars, of course) for a skate...but...if you've got up to $199 to play with, ANY Sure-Grip, Riedell, or the Candi Girl Carlin's would be perfect. Have $200-$299? Go for the Vanilla Junior or the Moxi Panther or JoyRide. $300? Go for a Moxi Lolly, a Riedell or Sure-Grip in that price-range. $400+? Get a higher end Riedell or Sure-Grip...or a Moxi Jack.
@rhinestone eyes Doing the conversion...you'd want to spend around 69 quid - UNLESS you can find them on sale - for a decent pair of skates that will last. Think of it this way: The GOOD skate you want is 70 quid. You save up and are finally able to get it. However...that skate lasts you for 5 years. That's LESS than 14 quid per year you had the skates. They last you 10 years? That's less than 7 quid per year that you own them. Etc. You can't afford that, so you only spend 50 quid on a pair of skates. You fall in love with skating. However...those CHEAP skates only last you for 3 MONTHS? That's going to be 200 quid EVERY YEAR if you want to keep skating! It's much better to spend 70 quid every 10 years versus 50 quid four times each year. Even if you're not sure that skating is going to be something you want to keep doing you've got to remember the value of the skate. A slightly higher end skate can be re-sold - you can get quite a bit of your money 'back" when reselling them - if you ultimately decide that skating isn't for you. So, you could resell that 70 quid skate for maybe 50 or 55 quid. You'd only lose 15 to 20 quid by reselling them. Yet, if you buy that 50 quid skate, no one else is really going to want them, so, you've just basically wasted 50. IF you're lucky, someone may buy them for 5 or 10 quid...meaning you will have lost 40 to 45 quid....and that's only if someone IS willing to buy them! Skates are an investment. Save wisely, buy wisely. Not sure if it's common over there, but here in the U.S., kids often get money for their birthdays and major holidays, and many get an allowance. One of my daughters did half and half - saving half (or more) any time she got money, allowing herself to spend the other half (or less). She didn't go to a lot of movies, didn't waste it on junk food, she learned, if she wanted something bad enough, it was worth waiting for. At just 12 years old, she bought her OWN skates with that money she'd saved...a pair of $200 skates (the equivalent of just under 162 quid) after saving up for two years. Yes, it seems like a lot - heck, it IS a lot - for a teen (note that even for an adult, that can be a lot)...but if you really want GOOD skates, you CAN figure out ways to save up to get them. Find a skate you like and talk to your parents. They may be willing to make a deal that if you save up most of the money, they'll give you the rest or maybe you can talk them in to doing half and half...whatever it takes for you to show them that you are serious about wanting those skates.
