but seriously they are no good for stopping the barks really and you have to have an enormous amount of self control to stop zapping when you get really pee'd off :D
try a proper Anti Bark collar. they release a spray when the dog barks and it's easier for the dog to understand.
ps 45 years as a dog owner, and had them all, from barkers to biters but never used anything except my voice to change their behaviour

btw i love your Vlogs and especially the dog walks . quite a few decades ago my gran took me to scotland for a holiday and i totally fell in love with the country and the people. i promised myself if i ever got married that is where we'd live.
i'm now 62 and spent my life living with dogs :D (the furry 4 leggers ;) )

Omg a big no to shock collars! I find it quite upsetting that anyone would even consider inflicting one of these barbaric devices on their dog.
Vibration and Citronella collars are also not recommended by many animal welfare groups as they can cause anxiety and aggression. Proper dog training is the way to go.
Don't worry Benj was only firing out ideas like a brainstorming session but with you guys instead of just me. There is not going to be any shock collar in this house. 💓

Braveheart was, for the most part, filmed not far away from me, in Co Antrim Northern Ireland. Same places as GOT, basically. I believe the Fort William area was where the Scottish filming happened.

My grand dog can be very yappy! However we nearly lost her last week to Addisons disease ( adrenal gland stops worki ng). Prompt diagnosis from vet was superb. With daily tablet she will go on to live a normal happy life. She can yap all she likes!!
Oh I'm so pleased the vet was on it and able to save her, Benj wouldn't really give any of our pers an electric shock collar, I think it was poor choice of words on his part he meant more a buzz/vibration I think. Thank you for watching. 💓

In my opinion if a qualified trainer needs to use a shock collar that’s a lazy way to train a dog

We have a dog that wouldn't stop barking we had lots of complaints from the neighbours, we tried the humane collar which did not work we then after lots of deliberation decided on the shock collar. It has worked wonders after a couple of days he stopped the continual barking. We took the collar off and he still has stopped barking all the time he still barks but very randomly. We found the shock collar just got him out of the habit of the constant barking. They are definitely good as a short term solution.

No no no shock collars. Try putting couple pebbles in an empty 500ml water bottle, when she barks shake it. Or try squirty bottle filled with water and when she yaps squirt her. She's just excited. It is annoying but she's happy or guarding you?

I thought shock collars were illegal in the UK … citronella collars are better if you must use something. If Polly is a nervous dog a shock collar will set her right back, my dog ran into an electric fence once and ran round the field screaming for 10mins!

I would never use a shock collar, But! I have used a vibration collar on my dog who constantly barks when we are on walks, so I did try it on my hubby n myself first and it really is good, it is just the same as your phone vibrating, so NOT painful or cruel At All , it goes from level 1,through to 9, but I only ever needed it on level 2 which is very low and it worked a treat , and we was able to enjoy a fabulous lovely time in the Lake District with no barking , and she was so much calmer and not stressed out,

Kilmarnock pies are very good - They were originally made and still supplied to Kilmarnock FC on match days, Aldi also stock Brownings Belter bridies both steak and Forfar style which are also excellent.

I think that a shock collar for Tracy may actually not be legal. A shock collar used by Tracy on her husband potentially may be less illegal. I of the opinion that it depends upon who is wearing the collar. What you do in the privacy of your own home is your own business, however still subject to Yzk Scottish and English laws - so choose carefully. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😎

Just by putting your hand up maybe the dog thinks your waving at him.
My late husband used Two words which was No bark then use your hand signal as well. If they still continued barking. Use a water filled washing up liquid at the ready give them a quick squirt of water. If successful give him praise and a little treat. You can also buy a water spray dog collar. When there on the beach as Tracy said they get excited and enjoying themselves. Hope this helps sorry it’s abit long I’m not very good at shortening when explaining anything. Take care

Definitely a no for the collar, I have a nearly 1 yr old Sprollie that barks at everything. I don't mind when the door goes etc. But it's becoming a habit that I want to stop when outside. Training takes time, and you will pull your hair out many times before you and Polly get to where you want to be. Me and Broxi have fallen out many times, but I would never put one of them near him. I got one of those high-pitched noise for dogs, only things as well. They don't work. He was used to it after hearing it 2 or 3 times.
Yes there will be no shock collar he was just having a bit of an ideas blast for opinion. Training is stressful at times but we have done it twice before so will do it again. 💓

I wouldn't use a shock collar. I've bought a collar off Amazon that beeps then vibrates when a dog barks. I haven't used it yet on my yappy Jack Russell but it has loads of good reviews.

I had the very same problem with our dog years ago. Shock collars are the nuclear option but the miracle cure for us was a vibrating collar. Every time he started, I'd press the button and vibrate the collar round his neck. Within about half a dozen episodes, he stopped. It also worked with aggression towards other dogs. Every time he started to show interest in other dogs, he got a buzz and it stopped him in his tracks.
It was basically like a mobile phone on vibrate round their neck but it's enough to give them a wee fright.
I think this is probably what Benj meant rather than an electric shock,an electric shock collar would definitely not be an option for us, vibration sounds like a good shout though. 💓
Tracey, I have a good idea regarding the shock collar debate, how about meeting Ben half way and put it on him for the day, every time he laughs you shock him and then let him decide if Polly should wear it 😜x
