Just bought this exact truck yesterday. Dealership was offering it for 20k. I put 10k down and talked them down to 18k and added a 5 year service warranty. I drove the truck 4 hours and it was a great experience overall. The review is highly accurate to my experience. I am hoping my Tundra lasts me 10 years and possibly pass it down to my children if its still chugging away.
Nice massive congrats my friend you did well and adding that service warranty was smart. Vehicle will def last only expensive maintenance piece on these trucks is changing out the wheel bearings cost us $1300 to change our the rears but thankfully you got the service pack. Enjoy it sir
@@MeynMotorGroup thank you! It's been a great truck. I have had some issues with my secondary Air injection system unfortunately but from what I've read this seems to be a common problem with 2010 Tundra up to 2018 and even some newer models. Toyota hasn't acknowledged the issue or provided a fix, so the only two options are replacement or bypass. My service warranty didn't cover the emissions system (go figure) so I instead installed a bypass kit for $400 and no I don't have the problem. other than that the truck has been great to me and is still running strong 💪
Hi there, My 2015 4.6 has already 226k miles, oil is always clean and doesn’t consume even a drop. Yeah power is enough. Great communication skills by the way, keep doing reviews like this. 👍
Change your coolant at specified or before specified intervals. With any version of the UR engines. Just like you do with the oil. Run your 4 wheel drive at least once a month and change the transfer case oil at regular intervals. Make sure you go through the full range of gears. Don't forget the differential either keep the lubrication and coolant fresh and you will not have many problems with these engines. My truck is proof. 284,000 mls and no major issues. Engine runs like a champ quiet still quick and strong. No smoke no leaks. I have a 2011 4.6
Bought my 2011 used, it is a 4.6 four-wheel drive! Like you said with the five seven I only use it when I have to as far as four-wheel drive but I'm a Hunter and I use it when it's in season in the woods so it's there when I need it.. if I had the option for the 5.7 I probably would have gone there but the 4.6 is absolutely wonderful for me and the four-wheel drive is lovely when I do have to use it.. as far as towing not a tour so maybe a boat here and there but nothing heavy but I am absolutely pleased with my 4.6 four-wheel drive. Thanks for your review
I bought a 2010 4.6 dbl cab, 4x4 bare bones work truck with the 6th seat brand new in 2010 and it’s been a great truck. The AIP pump went out around 75,000 and it’s a Toyota warranty to 150,000 so they took care of it. I’ve kept up on all of the maintenance and she’s running great with 120,000 on her now. Just did the steering rack and tie rods. Bullet proof trucks if you take care of them.
I just bought a 15' 4x4 4.6. Yeah its a bit gutless until you get up there in rpms. The constant shifting between gears on the interstate is kind of annoying as well. Its still feels really solid and the 4x4 works well. I drove it through a blizzard the first night i got it. I have an old gmt 800 3/4 ton that i keep for hauling heavy loads. Ill probably keep it for a few years then trade it in for a 5.7. I just couldn't find one with the longer bed for a reasonable price so i got the 4.6. The damn thing was in near mint condition when others i looked at were beat to hell.
Great review even 5 years later! I’m looking at getting a 10-14 tundra. The only thing I disagree with you is that you have to have a trd offroad. You could possibly save money by just buying the billstein shocks and installing them yourself for the same outcome and not have to pay a trd premium the dealers would want.
Dude the intro was like a commercial lol!!, That truck is massive imagine my little ass driving it 😂, I like the fact that the door on the tundra is a side door rather than like the tacomas the door opens backwards that i don’t like lol , TRD Pro is a whole different animal lmfao!, Even for a 2010 u guys took freakin awesome care of the truck it looks nice 😁 great review and video man

This is one of the better reviews I've found on this model year, so thank you for that. This is a 2010, you bought it with ~20k on it, but am I wrong in that your odometer at one point showed ~30k and it's a 9yr old truck? Or was that a Trip A/B?
I appreciate it thank you so much and I’m glad you found value in it. Yes we bought it with like 20k about 2 years ago I think now it has like 36k miles on it. I will be doing reviews regularly as I am getting press cars now thanks again for stopping by Josh
GREAT review! I currently have an 06 Tacoma with 225k miles and looking for upgrade. I have a small 3000 pound camper which the Tacoma DOES pull, but climbing the hills are my concern. Based off your video, i know what I need and you covered it all! Thanx much! I love my Tacoma but think I'll enjoy this more.
Thanks for this review. You did a better job than any other videos I've seen. I would've liked a comparison of the packages available. Just got an '11 4.6 4x4 but it's not nearly as clean or low miles. I use it to tow a big travel trailer and it drinks gas faster than I can stop to fill sometimes... But I love that it's a Toyota. Wish it had the big engine 😭
Elliot, how big is your trailer, whats your average mpg, and how far will it run on a full tank? I had an '03 4Runner 4.7 V8 RWD that I just sold because i bought a 16' camper that weighs ~2800 lbs. The 4Runner actually did a great job, average 14 mpg and passed semi's uphill no problem. I've heard they increased the gas tank size on the newer tundra's? Ive been looking at them and was considering a 5.7 but I stumbled onto one just like yours; a beautiful '11 4.6 SR5 4x4 TRD Off road package for a good price and now im not sure that I need the 5.7. The new 4.6 has a timing chain and produces slightly better HP and torque than my old 4.7 right? I have a good idea of what the towing should be like if I go this route. I know the 4x4 will bring it down a notch, unfortunately but I do like to play in the snow from time to time so we'll see how much I end up using it. thx
Good review. The only thing I don't like about the small engine is the transmission will often kickdown on the slightest incline on while on the hwy, especially the 4X4. So if a car or trk can't hold it's top gear on the hwy I don't want it.
Very good review! I am surprised by two things I did not know:. That It is not 4X4 and secondly the rear cab looks so small but it fits very well for adults! Thank you..
That is a badass intro love the JFK speech integration. Love the emphasis on the fact that this truck was made in America, it's actually more American than the "American" trucks that are built in Mexico and have Chinese electronics. Beautiful review

I'm about to purchase a used one with 150k miles on it same model 4wd. Quick question I never drove a toyota pick up before with v8, is the engine roaring a little loud while accelerating even in just about every gear normal? It drove nice I just thought the engine was loud in comparison to dodge trucks I've driven. I'm getting it checked out before I buy it in case. It just sounds like I'm racing every time I took off at the light.

First gen Toyota Tundra 4.7 that's the best motor you take it better than the for 6 or the by 7 because the 4-7 iForce V8 I'll perform any V8 or diesel engines it's better to have a cast-iron block then aluminum block think about that I'm a mechanic I know what the heck I'm talking about I study everything

Ok Raul ok calm down
The 4.6 is a better motor that's why they got rid of the 4.7
The 4.7 and 5.7 or the 46 is about the same motor you dumbass that's the same insides the heads but not the block but the same crap you idiot
The best V8 on I four schools of thought .7 because of the cast iron block why because you can put more power in a cast-iron block and then they live in in Block think about that I've been in mechanic for 4 years I know what the heck I'm talk I've been 4.7 Powertech motor from Dodge and I know what the heck I'm talking about you said you know what you don't know shitt
@@raulbueno4284 what I do know is the new aluminum is high strength military grade...naturally cast iron is stronger but new high grade aluminum blocks in cars are making shitloads of power problem free
