oh my god ! thank you for sharing this to us ... I've always wanted to see the first and original version of a christmas carol cause I've heard that dickens Despite the high sales and popularity of this book at Christmas, did not make much profit because the cost of making the book was very high due to its detail and beauty. and now i can see how much he cares about every single details :) god bless him ❤
I love your first state copy! In my collection I am fortunate to have: -The Trial Edition with ‘Stave I’ in the original binding -The 1st state (but rebound in the Victorian era) -The 2nd State in the original binding. -The Tauchnitz 1st edition -The Harper & Bros. 1st edition -The Cary & Hart 1st edition with one page that is a facsimile insert and bound in (unfortunately) Message me if you ever want to talk about the “Carol”!
None of these were the original edition of "A Christmas Carol." The original, as I have discovered, was written by an American couple named Mathew Franklin Whittier and Abby Poyen Whittier. Dickens commercialized their Spiritualist novella within six weeks for quick cash.
Christmas time is here by golly Disapproval would be folly. Cook some turkeys, ducks and chickens Drag out the Dickens! Even though the prospect sickens, Brother here we go again!
