I'm moving over from from SO to local PD so I'm having to go through a whole uniform and gear change out I'm glad you've been doing Safe Life defense videos because that carrier would actually work well for me I like the look of it and also like the idea of the built in pouches. I can tell you I've enjoyed my 4 years aa a sheriffs deputy but I'm ready to start my new adventure on swat.

Johnny Reb I'm also trying to switch for the SO from the jail to a local PD. Way better pay and actually considered a sworn officer and better retirement. The SO keeps everybody on the edge about going to take law enforcement training to get certified but you never get to do it
Brandon_ 7.62x39 For me it was either leave the SO or work the jail and since they had an opening on SWAT and I've been on the call list for 2 years they called me and said the position was mine if I wanted it. I wasn't gonna stay at the SO because the reason they were moving me was because I wrote one of the county commissioners a reckless driving ticket for going 25 over I wrote the wrong person a ticket I guess.
Less than 24 hours with mine but damn, the best I've used. I was worried that the pouches would look too "hard" but I have received oohs and ahhs even before going 10-8. Also the large pouch is very large.

I'm a security officer here in my town, and I just bought a concealable carrier, level IIIa+. In light of recent events, I'm certain this is going to be a good investment. Love the videos, keep up the good work.

The advertising for IIIA+ Side Armor Panels 6" x 8" is very misleading. I purchased 2 sets and all 4 panels measured 4"5/8 x 7"1/4. The weight on Safe Life Defense website says 0.5 pounds for a set. The actual weight is 13.1 ounces for cut down versions of what they advertise as there 15% more coverage.

I recently joined an EMS company and we are allowed body armor. I don't want a concealable for simple practicality and many of me fellow EMS have the blue carrier features here

I just received mine today. My current back panel was very tight but i absolutely love this vest. My cord is coiled but i will likely swap that. It was far lighter than i thought and it arrived in a large flat box. From KS, stay safe and thanks for the product advice.

Just found out this vest is not NIJ approved. Its only rated. Our local PD will not let any of their officers where this vest. Thought share.
+El Lobo I will say this for it. Two years ago safe life defense was a go fund me project. This year they are making body armor that not only meets and exceeds the standards, it does this no other soft armor does. Both in field and lab conditions it far exceeds even the wildest claims of any other manufacturer. I'm sure NIJ certification is right down the road for this armor. It is so over built the only hold up there could possibly be is red tape.
You're right! Our armor is currently at Oregon Ballistics Laboratory for certification. As a newer company the extremely high cost and samples required for voluntary certification was out of reach. With our increased popularity (with many thanks to Free Firld Training) we are finally able to complete the certification process! In the meantime our armor is tested under certification ballistic standards and passes with flying colors.
Could you guys do an add on of handcuff pouch or pouches on the front or rear? Love the vest and just got approved to look into them.

here in Brazil we are forbidden to have a ballistic vest that supports rifle shooting, and bandits only ride rifles

Amazing video as always, thanks for the overview and review of Safe Life Defense body armor. I was laughing when I saw the Fire body armor in the thumbnail but then I realized that in some situations it could be necessary. I work with a local volunteer FD but in our town there is too low of a crime rate for that to be necessary. And now I'm just wondering what that would look like with bunker gear. I'm assuming you would wear it under right?

Do these carriers have spaces for soft/hard trauma plates? I wanted to get one for work, but my agency mandates us to wear the issued Safariland armor, but they're less picky about the carriers. Just wondering about compatability.

Will it fit a hand held pepper spray where the flash light is suppose to go ? I work corrections and I don’t really use a duty belt.

+Jared Gerstein there have been quite a few cases of paramedics getting shot coming on to a scene before the police have arrived or when no police were dispatched. The idea that EMS only responds "once the scene is secure" only works from the desk of an administrators office.

does soft armor protect against knives or other blade weapons, or would i need to look at getting a trauma plate or something like that to pair with a soft armor type vest?
+Alex Tillman soft ballistic rated armor offers limited protection against blades in most cases. All ballistic armor is very slash protective. For stab or spike you would need either a set of some type of plate (thin metal stab plates are extremely cheap) or a specifically rated vest. There are dedicated stab vests and dual rated ballistic/stab vests.

This company makes their vests in a level 3A+ which is stab ratted as well as impact rated.

For soft body armor in an external carrier? No, I'm not. That is actually quite cheap. Have fun with uncoated 20+ pound steel plate if you want cheaper.

This company was a go fund me two years ago and they are currently making vests which are far more protective than any others on the market today. That isn't just their claims, I've personally shot them (and shown it on video here).

Serpent Seven-Six other than if you're wearing something that you think will protect you but doesn't, it's dangerous. Oh, and certification takes about 6 months, . This company just isn't certified. The 2 year thing is a crock. He's obviously got financial interest in this armor brand. He also can't tell me he's shot every other best on the market. There are hundreds of manufacturers.
Mark Yager funny you should bring this up again now. I just heard last week that samples were sent out to the lab for NIJ certification a few weeks ago. I haven't shot every vest on the market, but I have shot quite a few in evaluations for the pd and many when the vests have expired to evaluate how much degradation in protection there is with wear and age. I've shown some of that on the channel.
I have no financial interest in safe life defense nor do they give me any money at all. I kind of wish they did, ad revenue isn't what it used to be.
I simply support brands and products that work, and these vests do. Not only do they work but they are far more protective than any other vest I have ever shot.
