The name of the all girl band is, Thelma White and Her All Girl Orchestra. Thelma was an actress in 'Reefer Madness' Thelma's big hit was Shoo shoo ya mama in 1946.
The record was actually called "Buzz Saw" and was an early instrumental on Crest by Glen Campbell - yes, him. He had his first hit, "Turn Around, Look at Me" on that label as well. Thank you for identifying Thelma White and Her All-Girl Orchestra; while unrelated to this particular music, Thelma looked like she was having fun....
Excellent '60s stock/production rock music, which I bet was available for licensing for movie soundtracks - this is the kind of thing you hear in low-budget sixties films. I really like this stuff, and it's very hard to find complete, intact versions.
@MrAlsfan5 yeah i'm pretty sure that the footage is from the 40's as well. There were many all girl big bands, since a lot of male musicians were sent to war.
Like the way you matched the film footage to the music. Having a senior moment......I know that female band and their leader from the 40's but just can't think of the name. I've seen the original elsewhere here on You Tube.
Great video, and song too! I wonder what movie that the happy people who are dancing came from? Hard to tell if it is really from the time of the 1940's, or just a good imitation. I suspect the latter. Does anyone know for sure?
Yes indeed! Perhaps Thelma White's multiple talents for dancing while directing the band had something to do with Reefer Madness...Though nothing to do with Glen Cambell, methinks...
+fasx56 The band in the video has nothing to do with the music. The Gee Cees released this song in 1962. I was group started by Glen Campbell - hence the name The Gee Cees.
Now THAT brings a Smile every time!!!
This song excites my appetite and the video was delicious! Best Ever!
bravo Thelma white pour votre talent orchestrale très belle musique et également les danseuses Claude progni

lightsinorbit, thanks for submitting 'Buzz Saw' by the Gee Cees. The dancers from 0.00 to 0.55 really make this one of a kind.

This choon is cracking.
Great music/video pairing. By the way, this track is just called "Buzz Saw"; there's no "Twist" in it.
The dancing girls at the start are from a Soundie of Lorraine Page's All Girl Orchestra
the most fun I had all day. For swingers only
Outstanding instrumental!
BTW, the girl in the black dress starting to dance at 01:28 has fantastic legs!
October 1961 this was released, and according to the label it was called Buzz Saw, not Buzz Saw 'Twist'

awesome
nice nice nice
Yeah, thanks for further confirmation. I grew up in 50's and 60's and knew that the styles don't belong to then.
Sounds a bit like something from a Gerry Anderson show
awesome, what movie is this from??
The dancing, outfits and the band says that this was the 40's not 50's or 60's.
LIVE FREAKY! DIE FREAKY!
love it! what movie is this dance scene from? Thanks!
Yes indeed! Perhaps Thelma White's multiple talents for dancing while directing the band had something to do with Reefer Madness...Though nothing to do with Glen Cambell, methinks...
