      @@MrJueKa it´s in fact a nice cartridge but there are also the audio-technica new series that have a mc type cartridge that sounds very good ,i tried a grado cartridge and i really liked it but when i heard the price i almost had a stroke 5.000€ or around it but it sure delivers good sound with any record ,also have a expensive one the quintet black S but with a pioneer turntable from late 70´s(i think) it´s a perfect sound ,the pioneer PLC-590 ,i have a 79 PL-560 and i thought it was a very good turntable but when conecting this model i never stoped using it, the reason why i spent extra money to have the sound i was used to, cartridges used to be less expensive and triple the hours of use ,the first time i bought a cartridge a few years ago i said to the seller that the tip of the stylus must had fallen ,he laughed and told me ,they are all like this now, since the 70´s i had never bought a cartridge ,this was when all talked about the Ortofon 2mblack ,i bought after listening to it the LVB to a old technics i never had used still unopened since maybe 1976 ,it worked and still works today, the SL-3310 ,i was using the SL-1000mkII with a V15 ,a shure cartridge ,had a MC type technics stylus but it stoped being produced and didn´t found a substitution needle for it ,that i liked

    It's always so nice to see these demos here even if You Tube cannot in any way really convey the true sound. This demo as with all the others on this channel takes care with the pairings of the components with the speakers and excellent setup.

    These speakers are very old school and the amazement everyone talks about is due to their size. We have been inundated with small bookshelves for a long time. They just aren't big enough to have presence. It is a ported speaker with 2 ports instead of one. Big deal. They just used a computer to figure out the correct size of the port.

    • @truthful3777
      @truthful3777 2 года назад

      You have no idea about speaker construction. By using computer simulation you get the " Correct" Tuning for the Box???? You got NO IDEA what you are talking about. By as well ask computer and robots to built speaker for human. No need Speaker Guru to do voicing on the numerous boutique speakers that we have right now. Btw our ears are not electronic microphone and not universally the same compare to one human to another human. Each human have different hearing preferences.

I've had several nice bookshelves now, and yeah, dont get me wrong they do sound "pleasent"but you will never ever get the full range of sound with any spakers under a certain size with small drivers, no matter how well you place them or how powerful your amp is. it just defies the law of acoustics. a bigger pair of good speakers will always compeltely outlcass a good pair of booshshelf speakers

      The bass is all but slow. I have them paired with Naim NAP100. Incredibly punchy and accurate bass. Plus, they sound MUCH better without grills on. I know that their constructor himself says that they sound better with grills on, but I don't agree. Grills make them dead, very vailed. There are measurements saying that without grills the sound is distorted. I very much disagree.

      I visited Erin's corner months ago, and he too said that the grills ought to stay on. They compensate for unwanted reflections/refraction coming from the surrounding edges.
      Designer Peter Comeau is Head Design of acoustics at IAG group, and well known loudspeakerdesigner (Heybrook, Wharfedale, Quad, Mission, etc) for decades. He designed these grills on purpose for this.
      If you think these sound better with the grills off, you might have bought the wrong speakermodel for your taste.
      You probably prefer more upper frequencies/treble in a speaker's soundprofile, than what the Lintons are designed for. You might have introduced refractions in the treble region (if you recognise these..). Have you tried a little bit of treble boost or EQ, with the grills on?

    I have the Lintons. They sound good. But I dare say thay they are demanding speakers. Not easy to get the best out of them without powerful amps. The best in terms of power at comparable price point would be Denon PMA 1600-NE. I have the Audiolab 7000A, which I am disappointed to say lacks sufficient power to control the Lintons.

      You can say that and I think, depending on what volume your playing (and type of music), that's correct. Erin's audio corner measured them less sensitive than their specs say.
      I heard them with with a Nilai Class D amp and that's a complete different game vs the 7000a (good, but not really a powerhouse) > 2 x 70W (8 ohms) / 2 x 110W (4 ohms) and current: 9 Amps (same Amps as the 6000a which isn't the most dynamic amp). For example, the 9000a is 15 Amps.
