Oh sweetheart I've been crocheting for 10 years now and I still have some problems like with yarn splitting and stuff like that or forgetting to decrease I'm working on a jellyfish and I was listening to a TV show and after four stitches I was supposed to decrease but I just kind of kept going because there was a cow account down on the show I was listening to so I kind of went along with the countdown and I was like oh crap where's my invisible decrease I got to go back because I didn't decrease where I was supposed to it happens all the time I write down my rose and I write down my stitches to make sure that I know what row I'm working and what Rowan finished with and what stitch or how many stitches I need so that when I need to take a break I can write down what stitch I'm on if I don't have a stitch marker and pick up where I left off and if I am supposed to do x amount of decreases or increases on that row I know it takes an extra few minutes to do all that but you know what it's better than the second guessing yourself and forgetting what row or stitcher on and having to start over
literally justtttt picked up a crochet hook for the first time and among alll the bandana tutorials i browsed on youtube yours is the most straightforward and easiest to understand so thank you so much for this
This was the first ever tutorial I was able to follow. I wanted to make a bandana for almost half a year and now I can say I was finally successful. Thank you so much for the tutorial ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Really newbie crocheter here and this is the first tutorial on these bandanas that I've been able to follow along to so thank you💜💜 And really loved the commentary😄
Thank you for this tutorial! also I love your style of instruction-- especially when your dog came on, it felt less like a instruction manual and more like we were crocheting together!
I love this pattern. I did a few using worsted weight 4 super saver yarn which I didn't end up liking so much cause of the thickness but perfect for winter time. I did try this pattern with a size 8mm hook and the bandana came out light and not so bulky with the same size worsted weight 4 yarn. I'm still kind of a beginner so I appreciate good patterns I can follow along with.
great tutorial! When I did the ties I went into the back bumps of the chain, it looked much neater to me that way, but it's just a personal preference. I hope my friends will like the ones I made for them
this was such an amazing tutorial! I hardly ever crochet and I'm not very good but my bandana turned out beautifully!!! Really great and easy to follow instructions. Thank YOu!!!!!
Thank you for this tutorial!!!!! Normally I have such a hard time following along crochet videos but this was so simple and helpful, and I felt like I was crocheting alongside a friend :) I love how mine came out and can't wait to make some for my friends!
I'm making a bandana for my dog, and I'm using yearn with a reflective strand in, and its so loosely twisted this is becoming my worst yarn ball experience! hahah but than you for the tutorial. It was easy to follow and helpful! ☺️
Same here...no tolerance on my part at all. LOL I should have seen it coming when the yarn vomit was that big. I'm glad you liked the pattern, Patty! Have a beautiful day.
Thanks for this really easy tutorial! You definitely get the hang of the pattern in a few rows and it's easy to adjust the size of the bandana and strings.
I really love sitting and crocheting along with you. It feels like I’m sitting down with my mother and crafting with her. (She’s a knitter though 😂 when she touches a crochet hook it’s like she never knew how to knit either!!) thank you for making such a calming and helpful tutorial! Plus such a sweetheart pup!! Much love🤎 Also- my worst yarn ball experience. I got a messed up ball of red heart brand yarn. Every foot or there was a knot! It’s like they took a bunch of short scraps and ties them together to make an entire skein. It was unusable because it wasn’t just tangled, it was connecting all the pieces together!! The weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.
Thank you so much for thus video! I'm new to crochet but found this super easy to follow. So far I made a yellow one for myself and I'm currently making a purple one for my mum. Thankyou !!
They're doing with my crochet bandanas was using an elastic strap like the ones you use for a face mask or crochet face mask for ear loops and that works better than tying it you can measure it and see how comfortable it would be for your head and go from there it's the flat elastic ones that you'd like put in the bottom of a skirt or something like that I don't know
May I ask, what does your triangle measure after 14 rows you the G hook and the carrion yarn? I did use red heart worsted yarn (4) and an H hook but it's pretty bulky and when you tie the kerchief in sticks out on the sides and doesn't lay flat. I'm thinking of using a thinner yarn and a smaller hook. I forgot how rough red heart yarn feels.
The ball of yarn im useing right now( and for this video) has so many noted clusters that come out of the middle and it’s one after the other, but it’s pretty yarn. On top of that untangling yarn it’s kinda peaceful:)
so funny, I started making one of these then decided to watch a video to make e sure I was doing my triangle right, and my yarn is also super split! glad to know it wasn't me somehow being out smarted by the yarn and that more experienced crocheter's can have this issue too! 😂 wonderful video though, easy to follow along with!
So I have a question for you will this pattern instead of doing the chain for and slip stitching to the first chain could I make a magic circle and just do three double crochet chain two three double crochet I'm just wondering I prefer using a magic circle but if it's imperative to do the chain four slip stitch into the first chain I can do that as well I just know some people aren't good at making magic loops or magic circles whatever you want to call it so they do the chain method and just slip stitch into the chain I just want to make sure that I'm doing the pattern correctly because I like your style of bandanas
Hello! I am new to crocheting and I love this tutorial! Only thing is that my piece keeps curving instead of being straight across which is making it lay weird on my head. What am I doing wrong?
Hi! So you mean the edges arent straight? Would you say they are curving to make it wider than it should be or curving to make it too small? Ideally, it would be an exact half square, right triangle. :)
Thank you for responding! It curves at the front part. So it flares on my head when I tie it behind my hair but if I were to tie it around my chin it looks fine. Kind of like a bonnet lol.
@@taylorANDdana0828 I do not recommend the bonnet wearing LOL But if it is wavy on the front we might be making too many stitches in the last stitch of the row. Try one less.
@@sarahatkins7920 the entire front edge is curling like a moon/cresent or the edge is bulking up and ruffling? Did you do the single crochets along the front edge?

Yessss okay this confirmed for me that the reason my bandana was more rounded inward on the side corners of the triangle (the corners that would go behind the ears) is because I’m having troubles getting into the last stitch properly. This is my second bandana and I didn’t have this problem with my first the bottom of the triangle was completely straight. Which is so odd! Haha. I’ve completely undone my work already and began again and I hate to restart once again. Whew. I guess this is what learning looks like 😅 If you could please help that would be great! 🙏
Great tutorial! I just finished mine up and somehow it has a massive curve where it’s supposed to be straight, making it basically unusable bc when I put it on it flares out due to the curve. Do you have any idea why this could have happened?
i wont lie i was really frustrated at first, i started crochet a little over a month ago and most patterns ive come across have been instant for me but the beginning on this really threw me for a loop lmao it didnt feel like i was making progress but once we got to doing the rows i felt much better and i will probably make more of these once i figure out how to wear bandanas thanks ♥(✿ฺ´∀`✿ฺ)ノ
was not very helpful, just did not explain very well. i was lost many times and couldn’t see where the stitches needed to be and she did not say where she’d place the next stitch
I get almost all my yarn second hand (because im trying to be as eco friendly as possible hehe) and sometimes it is just SO knotted up or wound up terribly. I usually make it work but i run into lots of yarn vomit. sometimes its helpful tho! silver linings.
call me nuts, but I never ever pull from the center. Way too many bad experiences. I wont call the brand out by name but I did have an unforgettable experience with a multicolored, gorgeous colors, skein of worsted weight yarn. It was labelled worsted but it thinned out at times to a mere delicate thread that pulled apart at the slightest provocation. Parts of that scarf were very scarf like and parts were like lace. Bad.
as a beginner its comforting to see that yarn struggles happen to all of us. Thanks for this video! its really helped

Yes, I do suggest a light weight worsted like the Simply Soft suggested or you may have a hard time with size and drape. :)
