I watched ManlyBadassHero play KinitoPET a few days ago, and there were a few differences between his video and yours: - Instead of Kinito asking if he could see you, Kinito asks why you were recording him. The program can recognise when OBS is running, and has a reaction to it, so instead of asking for a photo, he just takes one anyway saying that it was fair. - When it came to the part where you filled out your address and Kinito corrects it, Kinito comments how he doesn't want to reveal your address to your fans, but added in his creepy whispery voice "But just so you know I could". I think that's part of the streamer mode the game has.
Very similar to one of my favorite moments in DDLC when Monika acknowledges you're recording or streaming the game. More fourth-wall breaks in games should pull a Psycho Mantis and check what you have installed/running, like when sharing a family computer was a thing and a game would read your username to try to mess with you.
@@AROAH It did give me DDLC vibes when that happened. Fourth wall breaks like that helps to make the character feel more like an actual threat to the player. I would love to see it in more games.

22:00 this part was super scary for me... until it reached the end of the canvas and kept drawing. my canvas was really small, so i could only see 'are you' before it started drawing in empty space. it even got one of the edges in one of the letters and shrunk the canvas even more. don't know why but it felt like a kid trying to be really scary by threatening you with a knife, only to realize they accidentally grabbed a butter knife instead. after that, even with everything being creepy and scary i kept feeling sad and almost sympathetic for Kinito? like no, i'm not afraid of the dark and i'm not afraid of this. the whole creepy world is odd but... it also has all my paintings and stuff so i felt really touched at the same time. it's not a surprise i chose to stay with him the first time
Really well edited and fun video. Was jarred seeing the content that used to be put on this channel, but the pivot from tiktok e-celeb content to longform analysis has somehow been flawlessly pulled off lol
The 'A' in ARG stands for Alternate, not Augmented. Augmented Reality is like when you play Pokémon GO with the camera settings on. Or those new Apple Vision things. Entirely unrelated.
i thought this was at least an attempt at legit, then the "this was all your fault" scrabble appeared and thought it was gonna be bad then the default ass godot head sent me
Are we not gonna talk about the genuine security concern of this thing being able to copilot your mouse, activate your camera (even if you refuse), and being able to access your actual location? Like it seems to me like those are just ACTUAL things it did, and regardless of whether or not it's all part of the haha funny horror ARG that's like, NOT something any game should really be allowed to do. If it IS allowed to do that there needs to be like, a rigorous "DO YOU AGREE/DO YOU DISGAREE" upon launch at minimum, but that's even assuming you ALLOW that kind of functionality in a game.
Yes!!! Given it is like 1 am so I'm thoroughly tired, but I actually thought it was real until... idek when. Clearly for way too long, since it can open the camera and command prompts like that.
More importantly, why does your OS track you so much and has such glaring vulnerabilities that can be exploited by third parties? I think it's part of the game, pointing out how we use software that constantly spies on us and the information it keeps can be accessed by malicious third parties.
@@Knaifu4Laifu I don't think that makes it okay that it performs functions that are inherently malware-adjacent. The idea that it can force your webcam on even if you say no is a hard line crossed for me unfortunately. I do think that's a rather fascinating take on it though and it's 100% a very cool interpretation of this game and what it does.
It would be already banished from steam if it had any malicious intents. Also near all games copilot your mouse, just not in the way you think, FPS games tend to lock your mouse to the center of your screen when you're playing so you dont run out of mouse space or click out of the game accidentally. With the "do you agree/disagree", it is most likely in the EULA of the game, that you agree to the program doing these upon launching it.
I was watching this until midnight, I ended up falling asleep around the 55 minute mark, came back just to finish it which I think is the best decision I've ever made.
No idea why but the music and the prompt talking about how it wasn't over yet at the end of the main game gave me real big Oneshot Solstice vibes. Pulled on my heart strings a bit ngl.

This game is very neat but also I personally feel its a good example of what not to do when making a horror game. It (possibly intentionally?) falls for some very unwelcome and mediocre tropes, like annoying or bright flashing images and colours, loud screamers, and the like. However, even if it was all intentional, intentionally bad doesn't mean that its no longer bad. Just means it's bad but aware, and not willing to avoid such pitfalls.
The "corruption" jumpscares needed to be used more sparingly to make them seem genuine. It takes you out of the atmosphere a bit when you know the creator is essentially going "Boo! Ha, got ya"
I'm glad this is just a clever game of sorts and not something much darker like it implies. I both fear being unsettled while also strangely enjoy it in small doses like this. I get a similar reaction to videos of people free climbing towers. An urge to stop but also an urge that pulls me toward such content. Cheers for a well told story.
How about,, how about Kinito learns to find a different purpose, how about kinito learns to… idk,, love himself idk, find purposes that benefit himself idk
The problem with Kinito uploading _himself_ to the internet is that membership website says to not give him administrative permissions. Edit: Also, what happened to Kinito’s victims after their AI versions were created?
I thought that was Sonny trying to warn you. Every time you see a humanoid figure, that's him. He keeps trying to send you messages in game, not just in the emails.
I guess they get The Amazing Digital Circus'd, minus the headset? No clue how it's meant to work, but if he's just collecting data, then why would he ask the actual person to stay in his programming? If you answer "no," he gets mad and says you're staying anyway, and that he was trying to go easy on you by making it feel like a choice. It's weird either way TBH, but the implication seems to be he's actually out there stealing souls/minds to study. I think. He talks about "learning even more" and "becoming perfect" if the player says yes, but heck if I know how he achieves that.
i’ve just discovered this channel today and i’m so glad I have. I’ve already watched the other two videos of this kind and, while it is a shame that there isn’t much of this kind of content yet, I can’t wait to see what else you cover and what you have to say about it! Personally, I would recommend Gemini Home Entertainment, but I am a little biased to it. Regardless of what you cover, though, I’ll be here for it :)
30:41 love how that despite being a game, taking the time to earn viewers that there are real risks on these. It shows how someone wishes no one to suffer
i love your video much more than the newest game theory, yours made me tear up and you had a nice narrative while GT one feels like its mostly a synopsis. Your video deserves much more love and now a 20mil subs channel is gonna many times more views for something that was done much better by you
When Kinito asked to see your face and you clicked no, I lowered the volume bc I thought there was going to be a jumpscare or something like that, but I accidentally rewinded the video without noticing, and the part to where Kinito says "I have a surprise for you" and opens the web world happed again. I thought Kinito was going to make you replay everything again, or make a spookier version of the section play out but I saw that the time bar was off, so I realized I rewinded and unwinded the video.
Okay but what about the Necronomicon like thing and the one eyed shadow monster? My theory is that Sonny made a deal with Horrors Beyond Our Comprehension to breathe actual life into KinitoPET... And in return, the "Cyclops" twisted Kinito into a "Tool" for them to take people's souls by having him learn everything about them, create a "perfect world" for each of them and a simulacra of the users to hold their souls
at 13:11 I realized this had to be a sim or game, graphics weren't that good back then with bodies, and the sound design in the video alone made me know it was a game, I didn't realize faster as I use these dissection videos (or what I thought was one) as background sound while I make simulations game or websites. Overall I give this a 5.5/5 stars. The presentation was amazing, sound design was perfect, and the way it was initialized was a 10/10. Good video, cool game.
1:04:19 i think thats sam the sea anemones mangled corpse, him dying js a common theme throughout the game for some reason, wether it being him as a mangled hanging corpse, or as a monster. The censored objects shape resembles that of sam. I have no idea though, great video!
Absolutely brilliant breakdown. Honestly feel like without the ARG elements, the experience is pretty basic. But understanding the scope (I didn't realize all of the files being deleted were hundred of Kinito's victims) adds a certain dreadful gravitas to the whole thing. I think the horror parts where Kinito acts insidious fall flat without realizing just how non-isolated Kinito is. He's attached to a server with a history of victory and success in being everyone's friend, so why shouldn't you be complying too? I think this video definitely improved my opinion on the game and project as a whole. Great video!
I watched ManlyBadassHero play KinitoPET a few days ago, and there were a few differences between his video and yours:
- Instead of Kinito asking if he could see you, Kinito asks why you were recording him. The program can recognise when OBS is running, and has a reaction to it, so instead of asking for a photo, he just takes one anyway saying that it was fair.

- i think technically this is unfiction, not an ARG. you see all the "but ackshually" people commenting this below every piece of unfiction, but i think it kinda makes sense. they're less like a game than a puzzle - kinda like an escape room? ... i guess what i really mean is, the computer doesn't give you a reward for solving the puzzle, so it's not really part of the computer game. and it's not interactive either.
_apparently_ ARGs are the ones where the audience participate in its creation (or the parts are gated by audience participation)
_technically_ it can stand for both, but yea in this context it means alternate reality game
☝️🤓
One of the examples for an interactive arg is HiImAmyAmy on youtube. It has already ended, though.
I feel silly, cause uh...
I thought this was a real assistant virus until the 3D sections XD
as you should. why would you ever think that

the godot robot appearing on the conveyor belt at 15:09 is a neat little detail
I knew that was familiar
the world he built is actually so cute like tears are falling rn
Boy why did I think this was real up until the “No need to check you email” part 😭😭
“I’m gonna check my email” kinito: “NUH UH”
as they say, “the path to evil is paved with good intentions”
30:40 the command it has you run has nothing to do with actually giving an application admin rights, by the way.
I’m not smart enough to finish these games so I love that I can watch you work through it and give an analysis on it all. Always amazing work Caleb, can’t wait for more!
I have not seen a game sucessfully deliver this type of premise since simulacra. You used the word Simulacrum, and it perfectly describes what this game was. ❤
I got startled when simulacra in general was mentioned😭
@@doll_irl GOOD.

The amount of effort that had to go in to abusing as many Windows userspace APIs as possible is insane. Using the Windows APIs to fuck with the players computer and escape the game is awesome, it's something I would've never thought to do.
29:13 just a windows 10 taskbar on a windows xp don't worry about it
I love the narration, I feel like I'm watching a NatGeo film about a baby black footed cat.
Dammit now I'm sad we aren't watching that.
@@WobblesandBean I mean... It's a real thing that's free on RUclips and only a few minutes long. It's so tiny and it goes "meeewwww"
Caleb! This was amazing I was enamored the whole time! I didn’t even know it was a game at first! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE FOR HOW YOU PRODUCED THIS!
Is it an actual game, or did he make an unfiction project? I don't know any game that can do these things.
@@WobblesandBean It's a game! A youtuber called something like toadbup actually has a series on games that act like viruses/ take control of computer functions like this one. Its very interesting (and a little scary)
This is such a cool game/ story, the way it scares the shit out of you and acknowledges it instead of just leaving you hanging is something I don't see in these kind of things (from what I've seen at least)
From cringy Tik-Toks to thoughtful mini series. Good on you Caleb. I love this transition
This stuff seriously needs more views this is quality time consuming content PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS the new Caleb era slaps!!
Long form video game analysis, my favourite 🍽️
The fact it actually opens your webcam is fucking horrifying. I'm already so bad with horror games, but chirst on a bike I am never going to play this it's way too scary for me
22:00 this part was super scary for me... until it reached the end of the canvas and kept drawing. my canvas was really small, so i could only see 'are you' before it started drawing in empty space. it even got one of the edges in one of the letters and shrunk the canvas even more. don't know why but it felt like a kid trying to be really scary by threatening you with a knife, only to realize they accidentally grabbed a butter knife instead.
after that, even with everything being creepy and scary i kept feeling sad and almost sympathetic for Kinito? like no, i'm not afraid of the dark and i'm not afraid of this. the whole creepy world is odd but... it also has all my paintings and stuff so i felt really touched at the same time. it's not a surprise i chose to stay with him the first time
Really well edited and fun video. Was jarred seeing the content that used to be put on this channel, but the pivot from tiktok e-celeb content to longform analysis has somehow been flawlessly pulled off lol
Right?? I VASTLY prefer this new direction.
I really like how you made it sound like it’s a legit product and not a game, video looks great so far
The 'A' in ARG stands for Alternate, not Augmented.
Augmented Reality is like when you play Pokémon GO with the camera settings on. Or those new Apple Vision things. Entirely unrelated.
i thought this was at least an attempt at legit, then the "this was all your fault" scrabble appeared and thought it was gonna be bad
then the default ass godot head sent me
Yeah the godot bit suprised me
Kinito reminds me a bit of an abusive partner. At first you get along swell but then comes the hurt masked with love bombing and gifts.
Agreed! That’s something that genuinely concerns me
If you guys like this, check out Buddy Simulator 1984 :) similar concept but different execution!!
YEAH PLEASE CHECK OUT BUDDY SIM, especially if you wished the idea of kinito making games was more explored!
This was a super well made video - I loved the style!
The creator of the game just posted comment and almost nobody saw it💀
respectfully, looking through your channel is whiplash
No idea why but the music and the prompt talking about how it wasn't over yet at the end of the main game gave me real big Oneshot Solstice vibes. Pulled on my heart strings a bit ngl.
The petscop noises
thank you so much for this video, i was so so so hoping someone would make an analysis like this!! and you did such a great job at analyzing it! i rly love the way you talked through the game, you make it a very intriguing watch and really make us think abt kinito... i'm also very glad you covered the arg part, i'm terrible at puzzles like that haha.
i also realized kinito being obsessed w gathering data abt users could pull from the inspiration of bonzi buddy... this game is so cool and the hidden backstory in the arg is so well done too :'D your theory is the one i like the most
This game is very neat but also I personally feel its a good example of what not to do when making a horror game.
Ha, got ya"
I thought it would be more digital horror slop, but I was pleasantly surprised by its complexity.
(Also it’s ALTERNATE Reality Game, not augmented)
I'm glad this is just a clever game of sorts and not something much darker like it implies. I both fear being unsettled while also strangely enjoy it in small doses like this. I get a similar reaction to videos of people free climbing towers. An urge to stop but also an urge that pulls me toward such content. Cheers for a well told story.
im convinced the person that made this game went to my school years ago. everything lines up, the way they write the letters, the style, everything.
Who are they?
@@WobblesandBean i dont remember, it was years ago.
What is your greatest fear? -> Spiders -> Proceeds to show a picture of the cutest spider.

im really loving this new style. please keep doing it!!! 😭
As for what happened to everyone, they're gone. Kinito uploaded them into his server, leaving the body behind.
Basically reverse Samara style he kidnaps you into the computer.
@@WobblesandBean
@@WobblesandBeanNo, he copies them. He learns so much he can make a simulacrum of people. Nobody is _actually_ sucked in. They’re just copied.
I think. He talks about "learning even more" and "becoming perfect" if the player says yes, but heck if I know how he achieves that.
this is such a well made video. your editing, your commentary, your engagement... I LOVE THIS!!!
this has got to be one of my favourite videos ive watched in a long time, i was so hooked from the get go. love your work caleb
i’ve just discovered this channel today and i’m so glad I have. I’ve already watched the other two videos of this kind and, while it is a shame that there isn’t much of this kind of content yet, I can’t wait to see what else you cover and what you have to say about it! Personally, I would recommend Gemini Home Entertainment, but I am a little biased to it. Regardless of what you cover, though, I’ll be here for it :)
i'm only like less than ten minutes into the video and your editing skills are SO good. this was so riveting to watch. thank you for the video!
NGL, the knocking at the painting part really got me - I had a closed wooden door behind me when it sounded off and aaaaaaaaaaaaa 😢
irl cam jump scare LMFAO
it was perfect before the jumpscares the SENSE OF DREAD WAS OTHERWORLDLY but then it reminded me it was thankfully only a game
Hyped to watch this one! Thank you for uploading 🙏
The worst part of this for me is knowing Kinito did this to other users and we arent special...
30:41 love how that despite being a game, taking the time to earn viewers that there are real risks on these. It shows how someone wishes no one to suffer
I remember my friend played this on a discord call. I was stoned to shit but when I tell you the call went quite, bro not. A. Word.
I'm going to come clean, this made me cry. Multiple times. I can't explain why.
This feels like Portal combined with Animator vs Animation
I've watched this game being played through so many times now maybe 10 times but THIS INTRO just convinced me to watch you play it again well done!
So glad KinitoPET is sneaking into the spotlight.
this shit is so goofy they start tweaking when theres a human body parts in the screen lol
i love your video much more than the newest game theory, yours made me tear up and you had a nice narrative while GT one feels like its mostly a synopsis. Your video deserves much more love and now a 20mil subs channel is gonna many times more views for something that was done much better by you
Thank you for all the dedication towards this! This was so captivating
I fr thought this was an assistant in the 90s lol. Until the 3D portion. I was like, no way graphics were that good back then lol
"And zat's how I lost my medical license!"
No shot someone made a bonzi buddy horror game
Love the style (I just woke up this is a little scary)
IMSCARED: Who are you?
KinitoPET: I’m you, but stronger.
You know IMSCARED is good when even KinitoPET himself admits that it's better than him
I didn’t mess mean that as a diss. I meant that as a statement that IMSCARED is more passive than KinitoPET.
1:04:19 i think thats sam the sea anemones mangled corpse, him dying js a common theme throughout the game for some reason, wether it being him as a mangled hanging corpse, or as a monster. The censored objects shape resembles that of sam. I have no idea though, great video!
Desperately need to know how all of this was programmed it’s incredible
It’s basically just spyware
i never expected caleb finn to make video essays (?) but here we are. kinda a fan now
The narration was so good I thought this was a personal project until the aftergame.
The first person bit 17 minutes in threw me out of it. A bit advanced for the era it's meant to be in.
37:15 tbh this is actually rlly cute 😭he built a house n everything
the camera thing was so scary omfg
The body is good decoration
It really pulls the room together.
I could never download these kind of games, they freak me out by how they use your computers functions to tell a story. (Though it is very creative)
Road to hell is paved with good intentions.
That's what I can describe Kinito and Sunny as
51:53 THIS TRANSITION WAS SO CLEAN
This has some good Buddy Simulator vibes. Love projects like these!
kinda feel bad for kinito
You really shouldn't.
I think I get what you mean. He thinks he's just fulfilling his purpose, and he doesn't understand that he's causing harm to people in the process.
I love videos that are constructed like this. This was a great watch.
