I like the enthusiasm of the interviewer, really has done her homework, but more superbly has self and historical knowledge of the topics at hand. Her ability to make the interview feel like a conversation is astounding!

Fantastic interview. The man Akala is an intellectual juggernaut. Which explains why he is kept off the Mainstream media.
Some of issues he touched on in this video has been stuff that has troubled me for years. I still have not got all the answers(don't think I ever will) but this has certainly nudged me in the right direction.

Akala makes a very important point here. That the ills of society affect its benefactors in very different, but nonetheless, negative ways. Whether its the example he uses here about racial stratification of society, or whether its patriarchy, or whether its social class. The negativity born out exists on both sides of the dividing lines. Of course one group in any context is negatively affected to greater degree, but these things cannot be destroyed without those on the other side of the dividing line recognising the negative aspects to white supremacy, patriarchy or private property based forms of socio-economic organisation. Spiritually, socially and developmentally we have so much more to gain than we could ever lose by destroying these dividing lines.

  • @Raveityourway

I would actually correct him on his incidents with dreams. Numerous studies have concluded that the purpose of dreams and nightmares is to simulate an upcoming reality subconciously anticipated by the dreamer. This is why you will often have nightmares after watching scary films based on the same horror depicted in the film; your subconcious registers that horror as a threat. You will then dream a situation where you are confronted by that horror in order to prepare you for such a confrontation in reality. For this reason, dreams are crafted to be somewhat generic, and will often revolve around events or situations that you are aware (or at least entertaining the possibility) you'll be in in the near future. So the truth is, there is absolutely and definitely a rational scientific explanation for such dreams.
Having said that, the rest of the interview was mostly decent. Big up.

Intriguing interview! This book sounds interesting and I'm glad I got to watch this convo first, as it's given me a better understanding on the general scope and ideas presented in his book. I thought it was a good point when he demonstrated how white supremacy can be hard for white people as well due to their expectations to be above their black peers in some circumstances. Good video!

Well anyone who doesnt think we need a revolution needs a good slap. In the face. With a chair... and a dose of reality. I say this with respect for all my fellow beings but everything this guy says is true and we need more of this if we are ever going to reach a collective consciousness amoungst ourselves thay will allow us to achieve a new revolution...

A really good interview and great insight into things. The girl had some great questions and points but i felt she could of spoken less when Akala was talking it was a little distracting. I'm a big fan of Akala and i agree with most of his points but lets not forget things are not as bad as they were 60/70 years ago or as bad as the slaves time. There are still injustice in the world you can not denied that but i think it now has got to the point were we need to change our self's because we have got that power.

I say we need more protected, middle class rich white men from gated communities to speak on all of our behalves.
How dare this young researched Blackman with his different perspectives and dreadlocks have an impact on the intellectual discussion around western thought.

Very good discussion. To the current empire's highlighting great men like MLK his "peaceful resistance", I've always contended that this is what they want us to believe out of fear of what actually happened to take place again. It wasn't MLK alone that was there at the time, but he was chosen because he presented the least violence towards a revolution. Of course, they ignore everything that MLK has said because it counters their arguments. They only care for the "I have a dream..." part of the entire speech, which they can purposely take out of context.

And to improve on the positive growth from our past.

I would agree with Erin here. I understand both points of view, however I thought the question prompts guided the interview nicely and even addressed some questions I wanted to know regarding ayahuasca and astro travelling. Akala didn't seem bothered by this as it felt like it was flowing like two people in conversation, so as a viewer it personally didn't bother me. I came to listen to the views and themes explored on the whole from Akala, and I got exactly that. On the whole I think it's great content with positive energy and intention from both of them.

Akalla, 2 questions. Why are you always in the same colors ? If my first question has some truth, should a part of the revolution you talk about not include the ability to decide for yourself what you wear? Lastly when we talk as Black men we must make sure we show a good example to our youth. Allow one more question, if a White woman tans does she believe Blacks are superior? I am against skin bleaching but I understand that their are many women who bleach that are quite unaware of the racial implications it may have. If a White woman tans we do not attach any racial implications to it. We must be careful that we do not help the white supremacist push his idea that everyone would rather be white because it is simply not true, bleach or no bleach!

Idonigbo Obu I understand your comment but to excuse the pun it’s not all black and white, you have to understand the beauty ideal for some women is the Mediterranean look or more so the Italian/Spanish look. Truth is no one wants to look extreme, being extremely pale is not seen as attractive by anyone as is being extremely dark, but there is a line of how dark is acceptable by all, so women bleach, one thing also to remember is that most humans are similar in some form the other so you don’t fit that of what is supposedly the norm women especially will go to the ends of the earth to finds way to fit in with society and not feel like the odd one, this manifest in skin bleaching, weave, nose job, when a body is favoured by the West/European society then it also is favoured by black people, you don’t see black women wanting small butts or smaller lips, this because white society have decided it’s appealing

LOVE this, but if we are to be accurate, all ancient cultures acknowledged and embraced non-linear time -even Ancient Europe... which ironically was killed off en-mass by those that decided on linear time and societal systems and power. Those craving "power-over" (globally) killed off as much as they could of Shamanic cultural teachings of all cultures. And note, I am not identified as white/European..... Similarly, in popular culture, Voudoun and other non-Christian spiritualities are typically made fascinating, brimming with power, but super evil..... I'm glad Akala mentioned Voudoun, Druids, Taoism etc... It is not that Christianity in and of itself is "bad", but anyone who researches this trace of "modern civilization" will find that key spiritual practices were targeted to kill off Shamanic-based cultures, and key organized religions were used to control Western societies.

fabio1fabz my suggestion would be Conversations with God by Neal Donald Walsh. It is addressed more in Book 2 however I would recommend reading Book 1 first to prepare more for the continued dialogue in this eye opening trilogy.

He is wrong about Europeans and our perception of time. Pagan Europeans (from the Greeks, to the Romans, to the Germanic and Slavic tribes) believed in reincarnation, but not in the way portrayed by hinduism. In the Europe of old, we believed that souls of people got constantly reincarnated after death, thus you live many lives as different persons, yet some parts of you can still thrace back the past.
