You’ll have to just hide your story for 24 hours and add as much to it as you want then add them to your highlights and let them expire. Lastly, when everything expires from your story you just deselect hide story.

Thats because you turned off the Archive , so when its on you can easly add to highlight and delete story, then you will see that highlight stayed because it has been archived
