Hey there! Congrats for the high score. I took the test 2 weeks ago and scored 155 so I def relate to what you went through. The tips in this video are pretty good - I'm sure future test takers will find them useful. Your advice for the "write at least one sentence" is good but I'm going to go one above and say that it's best if you write as many sentences as you can. It gives you the opportunity to be both thorough and show diverse language which will definitely lead to a high score For the speaking parts it is very important to practice speaking prior to the test in order to get yourself used to it. Also if you find yourself without anything to say but you still haven't passed the time limit, I suggest you think back to what you already have said and pick a sentence or a keyword and start conceptualizing ideas around them. Of course, make sure that what you're saying also makes sense because you can otherwise hurt your score. For the "wrire more than 50 words" I suggest ignoring the fact that you have to go above a number of words because you will end up focusing mainly on that. It's better to mainly think about the idea or position you're trying to portray and focus on being as thorough as possible. Write about everything you're thinking of and back it up. If I'm not mistaken I got to 200 or 250 words this way. Lastly I would suggest that on test day you are in a quiet and peaceful environment. Not just because you don't want to have your result nullified, but because when it is quiet you can focus on your test the best.
Hii, can you please tell me how important a Duolingo certificate is? And can you use it in the future for you career? Does it count as a real translator certificate and can you get a real job with it? Thank you!
@@Emmageemusic Hi, Emma! The importance of the certificate is generally dictated by what you want to use it for. I'm pretty sure it's main purpose is for university admissions as there are a lot of institutions that accept it. I'm certain that there are many workplaces that accept it as well. But I highly doubt it'll cut it as translator certification. To become a translator you usually need to go through the process of acquiring education for it or getting the needed certification through specialized exams. Duolingo serves as proof of proficiency but not as proof of workplace ability, keep that in mind.
@@martin_hristov hi, I am really stressed about looking away from screen and get invalid test result because I have a habit to look down sometimes when I am thinking. can you give me some advice about that?
@@nooshinshafiee2173 Hi there! I don't think that looking down in particular is going to be problematic as duolingo already expects you to do so when you're writing on your keyboard. Still, it is important to limit it as much as possible. I would suggest focusing on particular things you have on the screen. For instance, for the part where you have to select the real word, you can focus your eyes on the word and try to place it in sentences or repeat it to yourself. If you focus on the things you are thinking about, it should help with keeping yourself from looking away.
I've come here to say thank you. I watched several videos on tips and tricks on how to tackle this test, this video included. Usually, i got around 110-145 during the practice test, and tonight i got my results and got exactly 145. A few tips: Just like what she mentioned in the video, the "fill in the blank" questions are surprisingly challenging, so you might want to practice this question format so you can get a sense of how to comprehend this kind of question. Another thing, It's probably no secret that the Production subscore is almost always the lowest out of all subscore. A few tips that i found useful are to learn how to tell a story and expand your answers, don't be too rigid about how you structure your sentences. Your grammar doesn't have to be perfect, just watch out for basic mistakes like not putting "ing" in a continuous tense, the use of "s" in singular, plural,he,she,it context, and when to use are/is (also related to singular and plural)
@@Maaz_15_03should be good, i actually took the practice test again (still got 110-145), and then i took the test again, while sleepy mind you, and still got exactly 145 again, tho my production subscore is a bit better
@@rawazardalan2288 if you're short on time, the numerous practice test video on RUclips/Duolingo is probably your best bet. But if not, I find consuming a lot of English media (movies/books/RUclips/etc.) really helped nail down vocabulary and grammar. And if you wanna go extra, try to watch a movie, and each time an actor said a line, pause, repeat the actor's line with the correct pronounciation, and then translate it. Though this would require you to translate back and forth with google translate, so it's better to do this with a friend who's fluent in English. This could really help you nail down grammar, vocab, and slangs. Good luck

Lilly! I am wondering that in the choose real English words section, there are so many words like unrealistic, injustice, adjusts or words like that, so I always choose those kind of words in my practice exam, Is it right to be chosen? or Do I have to choose the real structures?

Hey, is the interview questions at the end important? Because I just finished my test and I think I did the best out of what I can do but when I finished it the pression left and I've done an horrible 5 minutes speaking interview. (I've talked for 2 minutes of nothing realised I was saying shit, smiled and pressed continue...) Is there a way for me to send the mark without this part?
ohh the interview part doesn’t affect your scores but will be sent to the institution that you are sending your scores too!! I don’t think there is a way to send the exam without the interviews. Dont worry much about it! U did your best! Wish you the best!!!!
@@lilyshweyee9132 you're very nice but I am definitely worrying about it... I did an amazing exam and will send an interview of me being stupid for 5 minutes... Well I guess I'll have to retake it
@@pulx1481 ummm its all good if thats what ur planning to! good luck with ur second exam then!!😀😀
Thanks, darling!
wish you the best!!

Lilly! I am wondering that in the choose real English words section, there are so many words like unrealistic, injustice, adjusts or words like that, so I always choose those kind of words in my practice exam, Is it right to be chosen? or Do I have to choose the real structures?
as long as the word has a real meaning you are okay to choose it. “unrealistic” is a real word with real meaning so there’s nth wrong choosing it. Just make sure that the prefix used infront of the original word is a correct prefix
Do did practice a lot?
I'm so anxious for mine
don’t stressed out too much!! You can always retake it!!
@@lilyshweyee9132 omg I thought it was only one chance. Did you get that scared first time?
I am going to give the test 2 months later, I am nervous because we can't look at keyboard and screen I think it will create problem for me I really hope I get a good result like u 🥺 pray for me you all!
Great content. Thanks a lot
no probb☺️
I just got to know about Duolingo and wanted to take it instead of IELTS or TOEFL. So I went to some practice and got 120-145, could I be getting the same in the real test, or is it that hard to get the same in the real one?
Thank you!!
Thanks so much for your sharing tips much helpful
So high the score is! I envy that very much. I’m on the way, my target score is 120. But I only get the 95-135 through the self test. How can I improve my score?
I wish there was a source to study words that could potentially be in the fill the blanks part. That's the hard part for me too.
I got 115-130 score on Duolingo practice test, would it be different from the real test?
I'm gonna take the test tomorrow and the only thing am nervous about is speaking section. I struggle to speak about any given topic even in my native language lol. Anyway this was really really helpful. Thanks for the video.
One thing, Do I need to pay again if I failed the test?
I took IELTS & it cost 410$ in Switzerland. I didn't achieve the required band score, so I'll try this one next 😭
duolingo test is definitely worth the price and its much easier!! good luck on the exam. let me know how it goes! :))
@@lilyshweyee9132 Good to know, thank you! 🤗 I need 120 in Duolingo! I'll try to study for a week since I need it soon for exchange student. Will let you know how it went!
Hey @@lilyshweyee9132 silly questions, taking the exam tomorrow. Is it okay to look on your keyboard while writing and not having my hair tied up? 😂
@@ellona3645 i think its safe to have your hair tied up or tucked behind your ears. My test was cancelled first time because my ears were covered with my hair. :(
@@lilyshweyee9132 thank you so much for your help! 💖 I GOT A SCORE OF 135, only needed 120. 🤗 extremely happy! Now I can continue with my exchange student process to NYC. The most difficult part was the fill in the blanks but yes, easier than IELTS! 😂
the background music is really high sucj that voice is so low
Please let me know, which type of webcam, microphone 🎙️or speaker did you use for DET listening and speaking exam?
I bought a different type of microphone 🎙️ and tried to connect it in my PC. Unfortunately, I couldn't connect it.
Kindly inform me it will help me a lot.
Thank you ☺️
