"Oriental" by Enrique Granados is the final track on Milos Karadaglic's debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, "Mediterraneo," a musical tour of his interior and geographical world.
When Milos was a novice guitarist, he hoped the instrument would win him girlfriends. It was when his father played a record for him of the beloved Andres Segovia that he realized he wanted to play that kind of music for lots of people. "In my ears, and in my whole body, something happened," Milos remembers. Today, he doesn't try and make it happen. He's not in control when he plays. As in, he doesn't think about it. "When I play," says Milos, "I just play."

Here is a technically challenging piece transcribed onto the guitar from the piano original. As is often the case with the output of Granados, Albeniz and that school of Spanish composers who drew their inspiration from traditional guitar-inflected Spanish music it is better and more frequently performed on the guitar than the piano. This piece is no exception.
There is significant challenge in performing this music in a musically engaging manner largely due to the need to keep the continual line in the middle while bringing out a melody line on top. It should, in my opinion, have a dreamy reflective quality. This rendition succeeds well in this regard and on that basis presents the music very well.
Why there has to be continual arguing amongst contributors to these videos is a mystery to me. It is easy to undertand that the appreciation of music is subjective and this gives rise to differences of opinion. This does not mean that there are not clear factual points that can be discussed without silly name-calling which most people left behind in the school-yard aged ten. To those involved, your contributions are spiteful, not in the cause of music and if you have nothing intelligent to say your best cause is not to parade your ignorance widely but to keep quiet.

Wonderfully played. Mostly known and loved in a duo version (Bream-Williams is highly recommended), however, this solo performance is enchanting.

This is actually quite a difficult piece, normally played with 2 guitars. Nice transcription and performance.
What the hell is up with the dislikes? So many people without a soul.... This is talent. So many blind or ignorant people...
The dislikes come from places like China.. but its not actually people that view the videos, its a service that provides automatic views and likes/dislikes. Ive seen many guitar videos w/ abnormal dislikes and people complaining that all that activity comes from one sole country. RUclips is actually blocked in China, but apparently there is reports of spamming and viewer manipulation from there.
The arrangement is sublime... Would it be possible to buy the tablature or the sheet music from you? Well done again.

Jealousy from what I can see. Some people seem to have an issue with him being good looking and being able to play classical guitar, and they haven't noticed that the two classical guitarists with the greatest number of hits on RUclips are guys in their fifties.
I find Milos' playing absolutely relaxing and lovely. I don't even have the video on screen, I just have the music playing in the background.
ostara0402 It has to be said that it's not a very great interpretation. It's good, and he understands the piece. But it doesn't surprise me that a bunch of people aren't convinced.
Jørgen Oktober Storm Nestande Thyrum, thank you for the considered. Admittedly I am less familiar with this work than some of the other music I've heard him cover such as Lagrima. I get a bit fed up because I even see people criticising Segovia on here.

Now I remember who used to play this solo; Hose Gonzales who taught guitar here in Sydney back in the sixties. He also was an awesome musician and ex-pupil of Segovia.

This is one of my favorite classical guitar videos ever. I have this on his Mediterraneo CD, and it is just SO relaxing and wonderful. Every moment brings back different memories of things from my childhood...driving through the Appalachians to see my grandparents... going to ecology courses... visiting friends in interesting, historical locations... the list goes on, in a pleasant way. This is just pure inner peace for me. Thank you, Milos!
