I just found these metal models that I had no idea existed. I was telling a friend about them because his son had built a lot of Lego models. Low and behold he walked away and when he returned he produced a metal Earth 3D R2-D2 model never opened when he handed it to me and said it's yours I couldn't wait to get started. Having never built a metal model before. I ran into a few issues, but I must say that completed model to me was very impressive.
Great video advise for people to listen to Brad. I always take a look at the instructions before a build for cases just like that. I always try to twist and bend a tab just so parts fit " seamless " doesn't always work but it does help. Happy building
Bradley, as you were telling us at the end of this video to make sure that you have enough room to bend/twist a tab it brought to mind the F4U Corsair. After shaping the fuselage there was not near enough room to either bend nor twist the tabs for the canopy.....and that's a relatively easy model to assemble. Thank you for the info.
Great video/demonstration. I had a similar issue that required some lookong ahead with a St Peter's Basilica model. Some sections of the church were folded at right angles with columns/buttresses affixed to these from the outside. Dilemma was whether to fold the wall first (leaving bugger all space to secure the tab by folding or twisting) or to fix the small piece on top first (making it harder to get the right angle on the structure). Ended up folding the structure first then just doing the best I could to affix the smaller pieces - couldn't get them all perfect, luckily they were a tight fit so tension held them mostly for me. What a mission!!
Just got the piececool flying dutchman, i have never made a model kit before iv got all the tools needed but im not really sure if i should start with the titan as its a 4 difficulty any suggestions?
Picked up a Metal Earth the other day and then realized after opening how difficult it was going to be. LOL Ordered some needle nose and some jewelry snips. Probably going to start it this weekend. I guess I'll see how it goes. It is the Enterprise from Star Trek. I'm kind of a trekkie.
The Metal Earth Iron Man has another good example of this. On Pages 3/4: Attaching his upper leg/hip part (#21) into his thigh (#23) is a major pain in the butt if you completely close the thigh as indicated in the directions. Leaving the front flap of the thigh open allows you to slide the hip lower tabs down to get to their slots in the thigh a lot easier. I did not read far enough ahead in the directions to see this problem coming on the first leg, but I will be ready for it when I start the second one.
And I just went back to your Iron Man build video and see where you covered this. I've watched this build video before but I must have forgotten about this. Shame on me for that! But I am glad I came to the same solution and was able to make it work lol.
The problem is getting them out of the metal sheet without destroying the pieces. I find it almost impossible and have ordered different tools and none of them have worked to cut the pieces out of the sheet or be small enough.
are there any sets that contains also some tolls? once I have seen gift box that has included clippers etc, but cant find it anymore... or it was not ME :/
Some older ICONX sets included tweezers. Some shops online will include tools often for an extra cost. Time For Machine model kits include tools but they are on a different level. TFM models are metal but are more mechanical and artsy and less realistic. Nice models but also pricey.
I had a Bible professor that used to close each class with “Keep on keeping on.” I wonder if you ever met the man. He was an amazing guy who loved the Lord.

Your video is so informative. Thank you so much!

@@MrGilidry that's ok, I forgot too. I do remember I bought a second kit because I messed something up. You are right, Iron Man is a good example.

These are probably some of the most difficult things I’ve ever built.
