This video really gets me thinking. I am not a person who has the idea of a high price camera could make u take better photos, but still I invest into a Mamiya 645 super with basically all my little savings after watching u reviewing it. However, after shooting 135 and 120 films for about half a year, these things really gets me into a financial crisis. And because I don't have a digital camera, so I need to stick to film photography to fulfill my desire of taking pictures and practicing it. And the money I save up for the Mamiya/GR iii, I really shouldn't have put it all in for a camera, it won't evaluate you(as I am still a beginner), there are so many better ways for that money to go where it could hopefully create much more value as I am still young and about to graduate from college. Thats absolutely an interesting conversation! I think people who have never shot a roll of film in their life can be easily discouraged by prices of cameras, which is why I made this video. Having gear that you enjoy using certainly is also important in the long run though. Regardless, digital is equally valuable. If you are discouraged every time you go shoot because you're worried about the financials of film and the developing cost then a Ricoh definitely sounds like the way to go! I've got a Minolta point and shoot I picked up at a goodwill for $3 that isn't anything special until you run a roll of Eastman Double X through it. I was blown away when I got the scans back.
Amazing stuff as always. Would love to know how/where these were scanned. As you mentioned the scanning is a super important part, especially for 35mm, and most local lab scans probably won’t do the images justice
Indeed it’s a great way for people who are looking to transition to film. I think the one thing you didn’t touch on as to why people shoot with large medium format cameras or even stuff like the AE-1, is the physical interaction with the camera itself that helps create the enjoyment of the experience. Point & shoots are 1 button & done. But fun video and beautiful shots!
the film camera is so good like the photos he took on a digital camera i wouldnt think they look good but since its a film camera everything looks good.
Willem, your videos are my absolute favorite on RUclips. You inspired me to really dive into film. I’m curious if you’ve ever used or heard of the Zenza Bronica SQ-A? I feel like you’d find that camera interesting.
I LOVE these videos! They inspire me to just go out and make film photos! It indeed shows that you don't need a lot of expensive equipment to make photos and have a fun & nice result so I really believe this inspires a lot of beginners as well!
I have 2 35mm point and shoot (I keep Superia 400 in one since it's cheap, and the other one I use a variety of film including portra 400 and Tmax 400 B&W) and I almost enjoy them more than my Nikon D3400. They were both less than $10 each.
Amazing results!! This might sound like a dumb question, but I had always been told that if you take out the film roll in daylight the pictures you took get ruined. How did you change yours with nothing happening?
Turn your back to the sun or brightest light to shield the film and camera. Since 35mm film has leader length to the film, yes, you could load in direct light but there could be some light fogging into the first frame of images, so best to shield it a bit.
I have the same camera, but it broke now it sits on my shelf as a decoration. That was my first camera when I started to shoot photography and I absolutely adored it very easy to use was a little heavy, but the view finder was the best out of all the cameras I use now. It was my favorite camera to use and I miss it dearly.
this might inspire me to start shooting film lol.

I made a video of me ranting about how the camera body barely ever matters, its all about the mind of the photographer. But I dont like ranty style videos so after shooting and editing it I binned it. But this is just a perfect physical example of that point, great video!
I love these videos sm 💗 it’s so satisfying to see the video of it and then the film photo right after it
All of your shoots seem so simple but I could stare at these photos for hours. The pool shot is so good
i grew up going to this area every summer (lavalette/ocean beach) and am obsessed with the pictures towards the end of the video
me watching willem got this fullbox camera for $5 as im staring at it on eBay for $200 =)))
Sick video, and good job on the shoulder check @ 2:49 good sir
Oh how that is amazing! I really want to get into film but I’m not sure what I should get. I’ll definitely check this camera out.
I've got a Minolta point and shoot I picked up at a goodwill for $3 that isn't anything special until you run a roll of Eastman Double X through it. I was blown away when I got the scans back.
Amazing stuff as always. Would love to know how/where these were scanned. As you mentioned the scanning is a super important part, especially for 35mm, and most local lab scans probably won’t do the images justice
i'm literally obsessed with these photos
This is the camera I started shooting film with. Waw. You did a great job. I'm inspired.
Amazing photos. You can really see how the type of light plays a big role in creating beautiful images.
i’ve been contemplating buying a film camera since i’m new to film but after watching this i’m about to click confirm right this second
I'm not partial to any specific brand but I've found Olympus point n shoots are good bang for buck. I use one all the time, especially in winter
the shots by the shore are stunning
Thank you!
sniping bangers on that beach again 🔥
Fave place to snipe
Yessir that Jersey Shore light hits different. Need to get myself out there for that light
my parents had this camera before going digital. They've probably still got it in a drawer somewhere. Funny how things go full circle
You have no idea how inspiring this video has been, thank you !!
I found myself an Pentax iqzoom 140 and a Minolta freedom zoom 140 and this video definitely got me excited about it!
these were so insane you could just make a zine out of this roll
I got this camera at a flea market about three months ago! And I Love it 👍🏼
yooo willem! you have been the reason i got my first 35mm Yashica last wednesday! you're a legend and keep going! love from india bro
This video really shows how its not the camera that takes the photos or makes them, its the photographer, these are mad bro.
omg this is the point and shoot i have, crazy to see you shooting on it
this place gives such a chill vibe
Indeed it’s a great way for people who are looking to transition to film. I think the one thing you didn’t touch on as to why people shoot with large medium format cameras or even stuff like the AE-1, is the physical interaction with the camera itself that helps create the enjoyment of the experience. Point & shoots are 1 button & done. But fun video and beautiful shots!
These results are insane
Happy New years to you as well 🖤
the film camera is so good like the photos he took on a digital camera i wouldnt think they look good but since its a film camera everything looks good.
The lights & colours were amazing. Great results!
It indeed shows that you don't need a lot of expensive equipment to make photos and have a fun & nice result so I really believe this inspires a lot of beginners as well!
man i simply love your videos
It was a amazing sunlight in your country
Blue sky as well
I have 2 35mm point and shoot (I keep Superia 400 in one since it's cheap, and the other one I use a variety of film including portra 400 and Tmax 400 B&W) and I almost enjoy them more than my Nikon D3400. They were both less than $10 each.
Amazing results!! This might sound like a dumb question, but I had always been told that if you take out the film roll in daylight the pictures you took get ruined. How did you change yours with nothing happening?
Turn your back to the sun or brightest light to shield the film and camera. Since 35mm film has leader length to the film, yes, you could load in direct light but there could be some light fogging into the first frame of images, so best to shield it a bit.
and now shall watch this camera shoot up in price just because of its new popularity from willem using it.
Everything is great
But the music give a incredible vibe to the video
Please do more cheap point and shoot camera videos! Great work btw!
Those Olys that everyone thinks are "cheap" are just as good as the MJU.
People need to get off the mju ii hype train
@@bobselektor no kidding.
This was amazing. So surprised with how clean the photos turned out
I have the same camera, but it broke now it sits on my shelf as a decoration. That was my first camera when I started to shoot photography and I absolutely adored it very easy to use was a little heavy, but the view finder was the best out of all the cameras I use now. It was my favorite camera to use and I miss it dearly.
