This video is kind of a test to gauge the response on whether people want long tail podcast style content alongside my usual uploads. Let me know what topics you'd like discussed on here 👍
Can't describe how good is this. I think it's a good idea to have long podcasts because there is a lot of designers who likes this style of content, and there are other kind of designers who enjoy shorts. And honestly I think this can have really good results because it's content for every type of designers (or even people in generally who discovers your channel).
Hi, just wanted to say that I admire your work so much. You also promote Skillshare, I checked, it didn't have any of your courses. Is there any course on Skillshare to get better at proximity and color you would suggest taking? Would really appreciate your answer. 🙏 PS Just noticed I wasn't subscribed, till now.
a month I'm suffering from that lack of creativity. I searched for some articles, and I didn't find the answer. Many articles I've searched for, were just motivation to be better. Then, when listening to this podcast, you analyze the reason for every problem that graphic designer might have been through. You've made me talk to myself, made me thinking about it, and give the recommendation solutions. Thank you, almost everything you've said was relate for me. Once again, thank you, Tom.
6:10 This part is very important. Because somehow I feel trapped by my own moodboards. I get stuck working on one design rather than try various things, just because I was inspired by something that really is portraying what I envisioned in my head. I really hope this subject can be further discussed in a future podcast.
I'm a freelance art director/designer and find the best way to overcome a creative block is to get out and hit the local shops. Antique shops, hardware stores, just about anyplace that has visual stimulation and offers examples of packaging, color schematics, etc. Once I'm back at my desk I'm ready to go.
Honestly this was exactly what I needed to hear today, so well informed and some great solutions rather than just pointing out issues. Helped me out already today so looking forward to more!
Psychology/Philosophy of Design: About time I came across something like this without having to look for it, which is an addition to the frustration in the first place. And I've been designing for about 20 years. This is rejuvenating. You never realize what creative talents have been left behind until you step out of the space you've gotten stuck in for a long time for one reason or another. Thank you very much. Keep these 'podcats' going. Get other creative minds to interact with you. This is brilliant, and currently, 9 people don't realize the gem they just ignored.
Normaly I'm not really into podcasts that much but ended up liking this video/podcast. Just subbed, please continue to do these if you enjoy making them.
Please continue this!!! Working full time, living life, & learning design as a hobby is rough! I love growing & learning in my hobbies without staring at a video!
This tip is particularly appropriate for today's relaxed episode. For those really tough creative blocks I pull out my secret weapon. It works every single time like clockwork. I simply dim the lighting in the room and block out all outside distractions. I play Enya's best selling album 'Watermark' and I don't begin working until I've let my mind daydream for just a short while. Then I play the album softly in the background. It's not my first choice of music for design (I'm more of an EDM kinda guy) but I swear this is the cure to all creative blocks. It must have something to do with the specific tempo of the tracks and how the wavelengths affect your brain's waves of (yada yada something scientific). And it only works with this album in particular. Give it a try! 😵💫
Awesome video, exactly what I needed. I currently take my first steps in graphic design and I watch a lot of videos and courses, sometimes it's exhausting, because I have to be focused in what they show all the time. I love it that I can take my eyes of the screen but still be able to listen to something useful and not feel guilty that I'm not studying. Also love the part where you talk about fear of failure, totally how I feel.
Unfortunately I’m too fragmented right now to put my own solutions into practice but I find using many different creative outlets and switching between them when you hit a wall with one of them helps me eventually to return and progress. Music, photography, photo/video editing, can all be used as a means to distract and refocus the brain in a different way long enough to give you fresh perspective when you finally re-emerse yourself in the work you had problems progressing in.
A friend of mine is obsessed with Myriad Pro font and I introduced him to Gobold font and he uses it in almost all of his designs. Generating ideas of a logo can be daunting but thanks for touching on it.
Really enjoyed your podcast! The swirling mass is really cool. Also tuning into the workspace and body was a good reminder. Interesting point about stifling the creativity. I'm always overloading myself with inspiration, then get overwhelmed and need to take a break...lol. Great points in the video overall, will relisten. Please continue with these podcasts!
Yeah I'm gonna agree with the other great minds here --- we would love to listen to you on a podcast. I for one have always appreciated your voice overs of tutorials. Would 100% sub to your podcast and listen to you inspire artists around the world.
@@SatoriGraphics I’d love to listen to more content like this. As a designer for the last 15+ years this is the type of content that keeps you inspired. Thanks for what you do!
My design daddy! Sorry not sorry. But seriously great content as always. Being afraid to fail is something I struggle with all the time so hearing you speak on it is encouraging. Thanks for sharing!
I can relate to so much of what you said.... I quit doing graphics as a job because I didn't like being told what to do as an artist, but your words resonate far beyond graphic design, and this is exactly what I would be listening to while creating, if I wasn't a music freak.
I am at uni in my 3rd year of a graphic design degree. I overheard a tutor get peed off with a class he just took. Because the student just used Helvetica in the class.
"Shut your eyes and listen to your body." .... "Hello brain, engine room calling! That spicy Pat Krapow Moo from lunch is having a bit of a rare up" "Hands, this is brain, prepare to grab notebook and pen!" If you've never failed, you have never attempted anything worthwhile, I have lots of "Brave attempt" badges from all avenues of life and wear them with pride. The bigger the cock-up the more you learn ;-)
if I talk about wasted creativity I still write an anime in my starting 4 to 5 years ago it still hasn't finished and when I sit to write i feel its childish😞😞
Nice video, but I don't really like the stuff going on while you were talking. It kinda distracted me cause it looks irritating. Maybe it's just me though

I think short videos are doing better
I think it is also fine to have long podcasts as well if you would also like to bring other designers into it. Congrats btw for your first podcast.

I love this format. It helps when I want to listen about creativity without looking at a screen. This helped me get in the zone when I was cleaning

Hi, Thank you for this podcast, I really needed it.

what design name is in thumnail please tell me
Where i work i get deadline of 1 to 2 hours for a logo and that makes me crate very ugly logos.
That's a tough situation to be in. You can get experience and credentials at that job, and then maybe move onto better things later down the line
Probably First
Indeed Shinzo
Probably the best beer in the world..

Did you make the visuals?
Try the wim Hof method my friend, also called the "ice man" his breathing Technics and cold showers will change your life. Good luck and all the best.
