I just got mine and it's worth every penny especially if you have a good old cheap one you have no idea what you are missing out on! It's a day and night item and a must have if you run XT60's period! Or anything with a standard balance lead for that matter !!! Must have thank you!
You didn't mention the most important feature!! BattGo is a standard built in to certain Lipo batteries that removes the need for a balanced charging lead !! It uses a 1-wire circuit on a modified XT60 connector to get all the cell information....
Indeed, it'll be more useful to look at when we start to see packs with that digital connection on the XT60 connector. I'm on the fence about this until I see more support..
can't see it taking off just from the convenience point of view unless the charger was equipped withBattGo tech you would need two steps to complete a charge and you theoretically could never fully charge a battery in 1 pass since every charger I know of uses the charge then bleed off method. As this device stands the pack would need onboard discharge resistors which to be of any practical use would need to be rated to a few watts. Adding large resistors and other circuitry just complicates things.
I think that's is the point though. You charge a BattGo Battery with a BattGo Charger as a single end to end solution. In addition, in flight, your flight controller uses BattGo 1-wire to interrogate the battery for real time in flight power data.
I can't find anything about eliminating the balance lead on the BattGo web site. The batteries would need to be able to charge or discharge individual cells in the pack if the balance connector is to be removed. Is that the intention ?
Adding servo tester function would have rounded out the feature list nicely, half the software already exists in the RX test. I've had 2 multifunction devices with servo test functionality and both have failed me.
Hi Lee, am I right in thinking that BG-8S only does protocol analysis on SBUS/PWM and not CPPM/PPM. The reason I ask was that I want to analyse the signal from my wireless slave setup to check things like channel order and strength.
On the BG-8S - Do you know if there is a way to check the voltage on a tiny whoop sized battery? It says it will do 1s but idk how to make it read out the voltage. I have connected a separate battery to the XT-60 to give it at least 5V but when I connect the tiny whoop 1s battery via a JST like shown in the pictures of the product I get no voltage shown in cell #1. Any ideas?
Got it sorted really quit simple. You might want to make a quick video. If so send me a message I i will give you the details or i can publish the instructions

Like the Receiver tester ... just ORDERED mine ... cheers !
that looks like a really handy peace of kit!

That would be a welcome advance indeed, balance leads are an ugly, primitive PITA.

Hi Lee, can you make a quick video on how to update the firmware of this Battery checker? thank you in advance
Great review. Does the SBUS function also show the flags which are sent in the frame? The ability to check the failsafe flag would be neat.
No on/off button with the battery plugged in?
Nope
@@Painless360 Thanks!
Sounds very interesting! Thanks for posting!

+Rob B what we need is one metal box that will be a battery checker, servo tester, receiver tester, power meter and voltmeter all in one little box :)
Really, really nice. Very useful!
If this could test internal resistance it would be amazing. I like it anyway but that would make it worth every penny

+Les Adams that’s right. I hope they add PPM in a later FW..

+Dan S I've not tried. I'm guessing it's reading voltage from the balance tap?
Lee- will this show if a Spectrum or other serial receiver is functioning thru the sbus function, or just FrSky?
If should work on anything that talks the standard protocol. Happy flying!
what is the minimum value for low voltage alarm? Is there a way to cancel the alarm?
You can change it - details in the manual..
Just got my BG-8S can it by calibrated as cell one is reading a bit low
+David Ardis not sure, the only detail around at the moment is probably going to be in the manual. Or maybe the forums? Best of luck

It's a shame it doesn't come with some sort of travel pouch :-(
+Anthony Croft if you've ever bought a graphine pack from hobbyking you'll have lots of them! ;) Happy flying!
Painless360 I have a few but I like to keep my batteries in those. Sad I know 😛
