I feel unless you were charges with domestic violence or and illegal act where you used a fire arm to threaten or harm someone (say murder of any kind even if it wasn't with a gun, or robery/theft/mugging with any weapon) then after you serve your sentance or finish your community service or go through your diversion program for first time pety or attempt at petty theft or small drug charge you should be allowed to purchase a firearm, more so for drugs since if you are caught with even just a single blunt most places strip your 2nd amendment and aslong as it is under i think $200 of theft or attempted theft then i thi k you keeo the 2nd not sure not a lawyer

Let's say there are rioters all across the country, breaking things, windows in store fronts, looting, setting things on fire, and it goes on for a month. Maybe you think it's a good time to have a gun at home for defense. Well, a LOT of people have thought that too. Right now the NICS system is swamped for background check requests. If the people could not get their results within 3 days they may have to wait 10 days, or 3 weeks. How long would you feel safe? The background check is not to "approve" the person. It is looking for a reason to "disapprove" a person. You already have the right to the firearm (Constitutional Right). Now they are checking to see if you are within the "rule" of that right.
