    Best tutorial I've seen yet on cutting circles. Very smooth, not jagged like others.

    Well i need a circle cut out of the glass, not the surrounding glass cut out from the circle. Basically the reverse of this. How do I do it?

    That worked brilliantly, thank you so much. I've been fretting for ages over cutting a round piece of mirror 18 inch dia, followed your instructions and worked perfectly first time. I just need to find some more mirror to cut now..!!

    I had a large clock face to replace and managed to cut it - thanks for the video. The trouble was that it was slightly oversized and had jagged edges. I did not want to do it again.
    I bought a kids potters wheel off ebay and managed to set it up so that the wheel spun slowly and with the aid of a tungsten file mounted on a flexible arm and a carefully set up syringe to supply drops of water I switched it on and left it. Eight hours later it was done.

    Great video. Never thought of using the edge of my pistol grip to run the score. I'll give it a try - you make it look so easy. If it runs completely, is there really a need for the relief cuts. I think I will try just popping it out once FULLY run.

    Hi,if i turn the glass unpside down after the first scoring and repeat the scoring on the other side,meaning both side scoring,do you think the circle will come out with less chance of breaking?it is necessary or not.thanks

    Why is it when I use the runner, my circle breaks in half? When you cut the 4 cuts at the end, do they touch the circle or stop short? Thanks - awesome video.

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  4 года назад

      The cuts are just shy of the circle. Are you making sure to push around the circle and flipping and repeating before you cut the 4 lines? Usually not adequately doing that will cause the glass to break.

    • @kathyl9729
      @kathyl9729 4 года назад +1

      Thank you! I think part of my problem is that I am not pressing hard enough making the initial circle. I am going to buy a pistol-grip cutter and and try your trick also. Your videos are great - keep them coming!

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  8 лет назад +9

      In order to cut a circular hole in a square or rectangular shape, you would score the inside of the circle (usually in an x shape) and break that part up instead.

    Thank you. I got my circle cut, but it's very jagged. It doesn't matter because it's for a clock and the outer ring covers it.
    I bought the exact same circle cutter as in the video but it didn't make a nice scribe like the one in the video, I could hardly see it.
    In another video the guy said if the cutter is new you want to dull it a little first, I didn't know to dull it so I didn't, do you do that?

    • @SlumpysArtist
      @SlumpysArtist 6 лет назад

      Hi Sumona, the cutter shown here is intended to cut a perfect circle. You can change the size of the circle, but the bar does not come in different sizes or adjust while cutting. Also, our equipment is intended for use by glass artists. This does not mean that our products are not used for other trades or purposes as well, but it is not what they were originally designed for. Hope this helps.

    How can I do this to a double pane glass?

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  5 лет назад

      Hi! It would be difficult to do this on a double paned glass without taking it apart. Since there is air between the panes of glass it would be best to complete one at a time. You could always use a laser to cut them both at the same time if you have one!
      Hope this helps,

      Original posting is old but who knows.
      That "trick" works best with single and double strength glass. Make a 1/8" etch in the glass with your wheel (glass cutter) then hit the glass with the ball end of the glass cutter 2" away from the etch mark if you want a 4" hole (on the same side of the glass as you made the etch mark....yes...same side),1 1/2" if you want a 3" hole,etc.,etc.. If you hit the glass just right the center piece of the glass should pop out leaving a nice neat hole.
      BE WARNED....the edges of the circle on the side you did the 1/8" etch will be surgical sharp as opposed to the opposite side which will be rounded.

      I can put a 20" hole in a 'pane' of glass in half a second with a 12 gauge shotgun. Your method is for kindergarten. You should learn to spell if you are trying to act like you are better than others...you are just being a 'pain'.

      Hi zero cool, this video is intended for glass artists. They use thin sheets of glass like this to create art and mold them into shapes, and often the molds are circular. We do not have a tutorial on cutting thicker glass or windows as that is not really the business we are in. Hope this helps, and good luck with your window.
