I literally watched this movie last week, a day after last week, two days after last week, three days after last week, four days after last week, the day before yesterday, yesterday, today and ill probably watch it tomorrow too.
I think Regina genuinely came to like Cady halfway through the movie & believed Cady was a real friend for her innocence & still staying around despite the horrible things done to her. Regina was willing to trade Gretchen, even stood up for Cady when she saw Gretchen's 'fetch' made her uncomfortable. She's quite smart & manipulative but her downfall was due to her trust in Cady, which is pretty ironic imo
