On Tuesday, September 12th I was at the Lindsay jail peacefully exercising my Canadian Charter rights when a Correctional Officer approached me and demanded i leave the public easement . I refused and he called the police on me. the Kawartha lakes Police showed up (who have no body cameras or dash cams) and educated the correctional officer. And hopefully never spoke down on us in their private conversation.

Not a Canadian here, but an American. But what a really good audit. You pointed out right away what you knew you weren't supposed to do. And stayed where you knew you were allowed to be. And didn't allow someone to tell you to just move on. And through gentle conversation you're able to use the police to deescalate the situation. Well done and may this be a model for any other law enforcement officers reviewing this interaction.

Saw you on another channel and had to come right over and subscribe. I'm a vet in the USA, 72. I have been in this struggle since 1968 when the Chicago pigs smashed my skull. Then in 1970 the National Guard opened fire killing 4 of us and wounding 13, including my roommates girlfriend, Allison Krause. FTP. Revolution! My children and grandchildren will carry on when I am gone.

@@Ontarioaudit it actually surprised me how well Kawartha Lakes PD conducted themselves when I was up there. I have had runnings with them before late nights on weekends and I can’t say they were all positive encounters lol,
But it seems like they have done their homework and are respecting our rights and I can’t thank them enough

Great video, thanks. May I suggest using the Canadian Bill of Rights rather than the Charter of Right and Freedom due to section 1 and 33 of the charter which can limit our rights by the government vice the Bill which recognize and affirm our human rights with no limitations.

Hell no, us Canadians have very few rights.
Lots of people think America has more freedom in the world because it has a constitution.. 😂 little do they know, Russia , India, china, north Korea , Africa etc etc. Also all have a constitution..
There's one massive glaring difference between the American constitution and the Canadian constitution; the Canadian constitution includes a "notwithstanding clause" which allows the government to violate or suspend all constitutional rights simply by invoking the Notwithstanding Clause.

Don't forget, as per the 2017 updated Policing Street Check policies in Ontario, you're entitled to ask the officer for a receipt of your interaction. Technically, he should have offered you a receipt, but, perhaps he didn't because you asked for the incident number.

For real, look at him and then think back to that goofy awkward kid in grade 5-6; there is always at least one, the kid who kind of kept to himself and stood awkwardly on the sidelines of everything.
