I never got past the forest level with the spikes as a kid so I was pretty happy to see an option for Infinite Lives in the DX remaster. Finally completed the game after more than 30 years. Died A LOT! I can't believe anyone was able to finish this game without an infinite life option in the old days!
Couple of tips for boss rush. If you’re having trouble pulling off a smooth “combo” I think you have to have a rhythm in timing with punches. Spamming punch stutterers the punches. So during main play through practice your timing for “combos”. This will make boss 2 of boss rush easy. Boss 3, use the 2 pigs in the crowd as safe spots, if you stand perfectly centred on “top” of the pigs heads you’ll be safe from lightning and the boss, however you WILL need to edge slightly towards the boss to inflict damage so hit the boss twice then go to safe spot. Final boss run forward to roughly half way between you and the boss to avoid his attack then run towards him and punch the s**t out of him. Again there is a safe spot to avoid the spikes it’s the gap between the cow/goat and rabbit in the crowd. This spot is safe from the bosses attacks and the spikes, but again however you will have to edge slightly towards the boss to do damage. But after the 1st spike drop, the boss should be dead so long as you damage him 😅. Good luck. And once again great guide
This helped me with my ps4 copy , I just got a ps5 copy free with another game on ebay so ima try to double dip platinums When I replayed the last stage , the option for infinite lives was already turned off .. * I would still check prior to starting : completing final stage * Also the one castle with the numerous knights you have to speak with , I fell through the floor and walked passed the collectable before speaking with the prisoner while watching this video and as long as your cautious of being in the area and addressing everything that you need to before completing the level, you will be fine . There is no specific order what to grab first during that stage. Make sure to speak to everybody though
The stingy trophy popped for me when I went for the protector of radaxian trophy on level select :) That saved me a subsequent play though of the entire game without using the shop.
A tip very useful: to collect de bicycle collectable just use a “ring hadouken” with the triangle button to active, break all the rocks and get the collectable.
Hey BadDriver I completed the game but I miss only one collectible. The one in Lake Fathom in the second octopus the collectible box. My mistake was that in the first playthrough I went through the first octopus to the secret island and got the collectible ring. Now that the game is complete I went to lake fathom again to get the collectible box and all the other collectibles are missing from the inventory. Do you know how can I fix it? I cannot pass the s3econd boss in boss rush and I am spamming the ontroler like crazy but the pink stuff always drops on top of me before i kill him like you do in your video. It just doesn't work for me. Or if it is not the pink stuff, then he threw the blue ball lol. But I just cannot pass him. ANd this is the only trophy that I am missing to get platinum :(
Yeah the punching seems to be staggering when you hit him not smooth combinations,. Spamming too hard??? Game is inconsistent tap left or right and you'll either not move or go miles. But was fun and redeeming to finally finished the storyline since the master system tortured me as a kid!
The game is difficult but for the wrong reasons. Mainly because of the poor controls. In a game like Cuphead beating a boss is so satisfying. But in this it's just boring and tedious which is me being polite 😅
I accident buy item at shop 2-3 times in one run. I did not know that unlock trophy stingy that complete the game without buy item at shop. I was very surprised I got trophy stingy. I was very glad because I do not want play second play through

It's funny because the presentation has so many credits and all those people decided the best way to preserve this game was with a horrible gameplay design that there is no way will be enjoyed by people who play the game for the first time. The guide is perfect as always and it's indeed a quick one even for new players, the boss rush can be a little infuriating, mostly because of the speed the scissors hand has in its projectile.

Just a warning , this games controls are very annoying. You will slip off of everything you jump on.
