On another note, I would like to see Vinny and Simple play 2 player Mario 64 one day. That would be amazing.
And completely works on real hardware, if you use a flash cart. It plays really well and you can turn off the N64 anti-aliasing for an FPS and clarity boost. You just need an expansion pak as it won't even launch without it. Doesn't even give you an "expansion pak required" warning screen like the other games.
As a playtester of the mod, I can absolutely agree, the devs place all of their love and passion into the mod. It is a true love letter, and I am happy I can help in any way possible!

Then you get the KurkoMods level of hacks. There's custom levels, new character models, faithful interpretations. This mod is on like, a Kaze Emanuar level of detail. Optimized, detailed, the clear labor of years of work.

When an object is picked up, the real thing remains where it is and has its rendering and collision turned off. Meanwhile, a fake is cloned to appear in your character's hands, with a pointer to the original object so that when you drop or throw it, it can replace the fake with the real thing again. It's a large component of why a lot of SRM in oot works. Bob omb appeared twice because the rendering on the original did not get turned off.

I know this is completely irrelevant to the video but I just recently took a vacation to New Jersey and hearing that Vinny was at Wildwood the EXACT SAME TIME I WAS without me even knowing it is kind of insane. Btw Vinny, literally not even a day after the power came back on I saw someone selling a "I survived the Wildwood power outage" shirt. Capitalism is so strong there.
Tooie is great, man. The level design definitely gets less focused as the game progresses - I'll admit that Grunty Industries and parts of Cloud Cuckooland are a slog - but I've always enjoyed how sprawling and diverse the overworld and other levels are, and for a game as ambitious as it is, most of it absolutely hits the mark. I'd way rather spend time playing through Tooie again than the simple collect-a-thon that is the B-K.
Smash 64 remix is like my dream game I wanted as a kid. But the characters that date after N64 make me irrationally upset. It's awesome that Goemon's in the game, it takes me back to '99, then right next to him you see Dark Samus from '06 and the childish illusion is ruined.
As someone who just recently streamed all of Tooie, I can honestly say for a fact that Vin is not missing anything lol. The game hasn't aged super well; the first four levels are fine, and then the remaining five are all tedious and terrible. The game has a very strong start and then just, drags on for way too long.
It's the same syndrome as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle; people remember "gotta go fast!" but forget about the emerald hunts. People remember good stuff and forget the monotonous garbage.
