Fire Tornados definitely could do with a reduction in how long they last, they can completely lock you out on an objective and when you literally have a mission timer already its really punishing.
It's why I never play on planets with these pseudo difficulty modifiers. Standing around afk waiting for a fire tornado to fk off isn't difficult, it's boring. Give me more stuff to shoot, harder enemies (like the factory strider), that's how you create difficulty and challenges which are fun to overcome.
I hate, hate, HATE the fire tornados. It's not that they make missions difficult. It's that they make them difficult in what is, in my opinion, an unfair way. If it was JUST the tornado, that'd be one thing. No, the problem is that trail of flame they leave behind. They gravitate toward you, sweep through objectives, and make them impossible to do until they leave and the fires die. If they stayed out of objectives or extraction, that'd be fine. If they didn't leave the trail of fire, that'd be fine. If they left a trail but there was a way to extinguish it and/or they burned out quickly, that'd be fine. As they are now, you basically are running around, hoping they aren't going over a spot you are required to be. And if they do, you get to just run around killing time until they are done (and meanwhile enemies are still coming in, attacking, calling reinforcements). Those tornados are the only thing I have this problem with. Meteor storms? You just need to be aware and you'll be able to dodge them. And once the meteor hits, it's done. It doesn't make the impact spot a no-go zone. Ion storms? Sure, you can't use your strategems and that can up the difficulty, but the storm isn't keeping you from running anywhere and it isn't damaging you.
See this: 27:17 this is the problem with automatons, you can run away throwing stuff behind you the whole mission (wich is not fun btw, at least to me) but as soon as you get into ONE head on conflict, this happens... And if they get to call in a drop, so begins the vicious cycle.
Fighting bots is guerilla warfare and it's very fun when you enjoy that playstyle of having to be smart with your position and movement. If you think you can face them head on, sitting still at high difficulty levels, it's just delusional.
Yeah, no, I think we've learned something: DON'T STAND IN FRONT OF GUNS. I swear, people make up the stupidest reasons to complain about how "hard" this game is. Like... they aren't bugs. Don't play like they are. Simple. Done. Easy. Holy shit.
That's why you don't run unless you're retreating to a better position. Heavy Armor builds can push into automaton assaults while Light builds flank for critical shots as long as you know what you're doing. Helldive is Helldive for a reason.
That has been my day for the last 12 hours... But in 1 hour or so we're done, and we can get to a much much better planet without fire, heat or stupid visual modifiers
Honestly it's we-tarded They want us to rely on strategems, but then hit us -1 stratagem modifiers and orbital scatter that makes half of them way worse... Then the fire tornadoes are clearly made to target players and key objectives to the point of sometimes being the sole reason why you fail Crazy
If you are thinking of trying this in public games, please actually be good. Had two people prior to this video try this and they got in a death loop and refused to leave the area they kept dying in wasting 18 reinforcements. If you can't handle a solo 9 with no support weapons please don't make other people suffer in public games.
if they aren't running away from the area after dying, they're not trying to play a rat. Bot missions are the epitome of "some days are fucked and cannot be unfucked; try again tomorrow", when the area is overrun, really all you can do is leave and wait for them to do the same before coming back. Any semi-competent player trying to play this game would not engage in a death loop like that unless they were trying to recover lost samples once the mission's literally over and would otherwise head for evac.
Ugh the players that join on your solo dive, repeatedly die and reinforce eachother until you have none left and then leave, usually achieving nothing other than a brief distraction for the bots. For me my greatest build would be arctic ranger armor set with the jar 5 dominator, P19 redeemer and of course stun grenades. As stratagems i'd take eagle airstrike to take care of large enemy groups and outposts + you have 3 uses that refill. orbital laser that can take care of large enemy groups and it targets fabricators and other important objectives that need to be destroyed. Autocannon to take care of big groups of enemies that are rushing towards you and great in killing every unit besides the dropships. If there's a 4th slot i'll just take either take 380mm to clear a base or eagle cluster bombs with 5 uses to take care of even the largest groups and it works pretty well i cleared half of the objectives on a mission on my own while the other 3 teammates go together do the other half
How do you throw stratagems long distances like at 1:51? I'm trying tor replicate it and I can't seem to figure it out, if someone could help me out I would appreciate it
I noticed that yesterday with the bot drops... I thought they were limited to one every three minutes, based on research from a couple of other creators that have been doing HD2 content lately. Definitely ran multiple missions where bot drops were happening as close as thirty seconds together.
Got lucky with a scout build vs Automatons. I was at the extraction point and hid in a corner. The bots stormed the extraction site looked around and promptly ran back out. At the 30 second mark I dropped the Orbital Laser on them and tossed a 500kg at the other entrance point. Wish I'd filmed it. --- Wolfe
Swap the spear for the shield pack it's a blast at taking out facilities and turrets from distance! I wish they would let us see building damage stats at the end of the game.
If you are playing stealth correctly you will not need the shield. Also, if you are good at stealth you will realize the scout armor isn't necessary to play this playstyle. Instead, consider taking your support weapon instead of the backpack shield, and wear light explo armor ( I've done it in medium explo armor or medium scout also) and you will have a more well rounded loadout. AMR is fun for Rat builds.
"we gonna help out the cause". As my mother always told me, finish your vegetables, and finish your ops, or you are not doing anything for the cause! ;)
For my rat loadout, I use the eruptor instead. I'm not gonna stay in combat anyway, stuns and running away works just as well, and eruptor lets me close fabs from significant distances, and getting back into cover (aka out of LOS and retaliation) before they even notice what happened. Shield generator is also overrated imho. I take laser cannon instead for the times I do need to wipe out a single location and as an effective primary (and it also deals with gunships very well), EMP mortar to draw aggro away, and the final item be either a regular airstrike or 380, depending on what meets my fancy. Granted this isn't quite as good in hot planets, so I switch instead to autocannon and plasma punisher.
I dunno if I can play like this. I like to move fast and avoid getting hit but I like to shoot stuff, to the point I run out of ammo. Since the spawn rate bug, I've had to switch to this armour which has half the armour but more stealth, it lets me pick my battles, but I still like taking them out. However if I do get overrun I can disengage to reingage. I use the AMR and Jetpack and can take out all the bots with ease. Bugs however, I just can't find as good a combo.
Half the time I do SEAF SAM sites, I just sneak in, hit the terminal right behind a inattentive guard then leave, leaving the bot alive to simmer in guilt when the first SAM fires off. Suffer and remember the day you got Ninja'd.
Normally I run around and handle things with stealth by myself while everyone else is fighting the bots, if I’m spotted I leave, I hit from a distance using Spear and run away, might not seem effective but I can handle one half of the map myself while the team handles the other half in about the same time.
If you put mortar in your loadout, just hide it behind a rock and let it start shooting. Automatons then aggro towards the turret while you can run around and wreck the base, or take the objective. Depending on what you do. Red stratagems immediately draw aggro towards you.
Ill have to try this out, i always go with the autocannon turret because its such a beast, but it gets destroyed pretty quickly most of the time. All it jeeds is like 10-15 seconds tho and itll clear out a ton of enemies.
have anyone see these fire tornados kill a biletitan or those larger tanks/factory striders?? those bots really hate that extraction tower XD had a similar game where i was just "hiding" behind a small ledge but none of the bots really pushed up to swarm me..just around 2 bots that had an angle to shoot a few shots but not quite kill me until the ship actually spawns
apparently the JAR-5 can do it too... but i once downed 12 of the damned things with the Emancipator and then killed another three (last ones after we hellbombed the gunship towers) with a quasar. Just remember, we humans have better target prediction and tracking (if you dont get flinched)
They need to seriously change the fire tornados. Having that many that close is rediculous. They are not random at all. They will chase you down. It makes them just feel like an invincible boss entity and not a weather event.
Something isn't right about this. The obvious thing is when you do the first part of the main objectives. You NEVER get the option to do the 100% terminal thing until you've put the Dropbox in the tower. You hit the code, open the hatch, then have to put the box in, come back, do the 100%, then the final code.
Oh hey this is what I do! Except it's 120, 380, gattling barrage and orbital laser. Just running around and exploding shit without taking any patrol or breach fights

"If we don't know what we are doing, the enemy certainly can't anticipate our future actions."
You may have already talked about this but what do you have your binds set to to be able to move and call in strategems at the same time?
Change your stratagem buttons from WASD to the arrow keys

At 13:33 a huge cloaked ship warps in, in the sky. Anyone else seeing this?
Another one at 13:50
Weapons with medium armor pen. Can kill gunships, such as the diligence sniper but it’s a bit slow
How do you throw stratagems long distances like at 1:51? I'm trying tor replicate it and I can't seem to figure it out, if someone could help me out I would appreciate it
😂 Not You... Ship's Full. LOL
💥💀💥
At 7:15 the new bot drop got triggered probably because the timer get reset when you activate a secondary as the data-pod.
I use the punisher plasma and not sure if it hurts gunships tbh. Maybe need to test more
I noticed that yesterday with the bot drops... I thought they were limited to one every three minutes, based on research from a couple of other creators that have been doing HD2 content lately. Definitely ran multiple missions where bot drops were happening as close as thirty seconds together.
Look at that RAT :D
so this MO is training us for stealth operations
Gigachad: Deploy me a Land raider equip with lascannons on the left side, and melta guns on the right side.
--- Wolfe
I love you Takibowo
On the SEAF Artillery you can climb on that yellow console, you don't need to run around it
Hell-Skaven YES-YES
Swap the spear for the shield pack it's a blast at taking out facilities and turrets from distance! I wish they would let us see building damage stats at the end of the game.
Does the game not crash for you like every time you play??)
Hello, could you make a tier list video? I’d like to see your opinion. Thank you.
He probably will after the new update comes out this coming week.
"we gonna help out the cause". As my mother always told me, finish your vegetables, and finish your ops, or you are not doing anything for the cause! ;)
32:00 Steam has a built in screenshot feature. Just press one button instead of using the snipping tool.
bro is based thats why
Fire tornadoes hurt bots. It'll kill small bots and heavily hurt berserkers at least.
27:30 is why I bring the JAR over the scorcher. But I use autocannon to take out most things
This is how my group play. In and out in under 10 minutes. Our fastest being 6m22s on a command bunker mission.
@19:25 Next time bring the Fire Extinguisher Stratagem! ;-)
1- how you chuck your grenades so damn far lol second I feel like when i wear scout armor I'm way slower then you >.>
I dunno if I can play like this.
I do something similar.
Jet Pack; Commando RL; Precision Strike; Eagle Air Strike
Med Scout armor (basic warbond); Counter Sniper Rifle or Scorcher
Revolver & Smoke grenades.
The plasma punisher can drop gunships but the projectile arc and speed means you should only use it in the very worst case scenario
How does this compare to Malevelon Creek for you veterans here?
Half the time I do SEAF SAM sites, I just sneak in, hit the terminal right behind a inattentive guard then leave, leaving the bot alive to simmer in guilt when the first SAM fires off.
Suffer and remember the day you got Ninja'd.
Plasma Punisher can shoot down Gunships too, but the arcing shot makes accuracy difficult. I've pulled it off on occasion, though.
What you did to that last citizen was evil.
But necessary.
Dominator can down gunships very quickly too, but the shot leading is an issue
I would have ran Orbital Precision strike instead of 500kg so it's not sharing cooldown with eagle-1. Still an awesome loadout :D
All it jeeds is like 10-15 seconds tho and itll clear out a ton of enemies.
red stratagems: aggro towards *you* , or *towards your last location at the time of throwing?*
Can you actually throw further by leaping forward?
Sprinting and diving both allow to throw farther so ive heard
have anyone see these fire tornados kill a biletitan or those larger tanks/factory striders??
those bots really hate that extraction tower XD
had a similar game where i was just "hiding" behind a small ledge but none of the bots really pushed up to swarm me..just around 2 bots that had an angle to shoot a few shots but not quite kill me until the ship actually spawns
34:51 that's 14 lol, 25 rep per
The scorcher can take down gunships? 200hrs and I'm still a dumbass when it comes to HD2
apparently the JAR-5 can do it too... but i once downed 12 of the damned things with the Emancipator and then killed another three (last ones after we hellbombed the gunship towers) with a quasar.
I miss pre-nerf eruptor
Oh hey this is what I do! Except it's 120, 380, gattling barrage and orbital laser. Just running around and exploding shit without taking any patrol or breach fights
Diligence Counter Sniper can shoot down gunships
The Dominator can also kill gunships.
Those tornadoes are almost as effective at killing bots as they are divers btw.😂
Jar can kill gun ships but it is a bit painful
31:00 should've brought the walking barrage.
takibo literally and figurately ROASTING the citizens AI
The Eruptor used to be great against the gunships.
"man automaton is soo hard"
