I love the fact that Ed asks so many times about the scar on his face and Dan never gets bored and keeps answering him , such a patient and great son ...
A Salinger Coffee break with Father and Son. Grandpa Ed is a treat to watch!! Dan, you are your father’s son. The resemblance is definitely there for sure. Love you Grandpa 🥰!!
Greetings from Ireland. I look forward to seeing u all. I wd love to have ur climate. Ed is a delightful man so chatty and kind. Talk to him about Ireland 🇮🇪 Lots of Irish in U.S.A. 7:05
Grandpa was amazingly close to guessing what year it was. I was so anxious to hear what he was going to say that I let out a sigh of relief when he said 2022. I was so excited for him because I thought he was going to say 19 ...something. 😂😂 I really love this smart man. God bless him!❤❤❤
I thought the same. I reckon I’d say 1999 because they made so much fuss about that year turning into 2000 and I think it would just stick in my mind! lol
As muslim i am glad to see an old son taking care of his old father ❤ i wish if all western world follows him as example. We should never send our parents to old age no matter what
@@bradh74 The religion guides us. Must take care of your parents. Some claim religious yet ignore parents. Muslims know if they leave & ignore parents, they wait until they see & die ALONE!! Must MUST happen!
Dan, you're so good to your dad. I took care of Mom until she passed, so I understand the energy it takes, and also the love and compassion you feel for your Dad. This is a part of your life you'll cherish forever. Blessings sent.
I couldn't agree with you more. I wish I had the chance to have my mom around for this long. I was only 16 when she passed away😢. My father just passed away a couple years ago but due to his wife I didn't speak with him for over 30yrs. My point being is I'm thrilled (as hard as it can be somedays) that Dan gets to have this quality time w/ his lovely father. God bless you Dan for taking your father in like this. So many just drop their parents off at a home and forget about them.
Good job Dan. You will NOT have any regret in the future in regards to your dad. Because you are a good kid for your dad. , It is ALWAYSto take time to your parents like this. Loneliness a big problem in the USA. And old people all they want is the people to talk to them and to listen to them.
When I was caring for my husband who had dementia, all of the videos and information I saw discouraged asking questions so as to not frustrate the patient. I wish that I had followed your practice instead, asking him questions. It seems to keep him stimulated and involved and helps to build context to his moment by moment and daily life. You are doing a wonderful job. My husband was similar to your dad in having a mostly positive and cheerful attitude. It was hard for him when he began to be merely part of the background due to his inability to communicate. You and your family are an encouragement.
I asked questions with my ex , but the quality of his nursing home was so… arid . Barren . Sad . He refused to wear hearing aids . I’ve been watching ED since before 90 birthday . I know it’s different for each person , but I think they are showing how such a language enriched environment, excellent care, involvement with his “ fan club” , etc .. will show how important all of that is, generally. Just saying do believe it will help more people than they can even imagine now.
You can ask them opinion questions or ask more about what they share but not supposed to ask them questions that require short term memory. They will either struggle to make up an answer or get frustrated. I get that Dan is trying to make content for now. I can't judge too much because while I've cared for people with dementia, I've never lived it.
I started watching Dr Ed on 2023. What an amazing father he is. I have my own dad but he lives elsewhere (with his other fam). A complicated story on its own! So I and my siblings never had a father daughter relationship with him, it was always distant. Get to see him for a couple of days each year, some other years we didn't see him. Because of that I've lived with the thought that I didn't need a father, I never saw the importance of having one. I'm in my twenties now and watching Dr Ed makes me think how it would've been if my father had been present in our lives. You have an amazing father Dan. He's old but you have no idea how much love he draws from me because of merely watching his videos. From South Africa
Hello South Africa! Isn’t Ed so sweet! ❤ Their relationship is so admirable. I wonder what the world would be like if all of us out here, going through life had that same kind of loving bond with our parents??? I bet your experience with your own father will help mold you to be a good, strong and present parent. (Not sure if you are one yet) but it’s nice to draw inspiration from this family, isn’t it? Be well!!!❤❤❤❤ From California, USA
You are not unique in that regards. My experience too.Although one uncle of mine behaved as a father to me.He was very nice and affectionate. So I did not suffer the absence in that respect at least
Grandpa can't see his children as old people. It's a strange twist of fate. The most vivid memories of one's sons and daughters are when those humans were children.
When I see you both together on my phone....oh good! Grandpa Ed and Dan are having one of their nice talk's again! Enjoy your Father and son talk's very much! Two...Good...Men!❤😊
I just love your Dad. He reminds me of my 87 year old Grandfather. I miss him. He unfortunately left earth and crossed over to Heaven in 2022. Lovely man just like your father. Protect him at all costs. ❤️

This touches my heart every time I watch your videos. I know how difficult it can be for your family sometimes, I had a head injury 7 yrs ago and sometimes it effects my short term memory, it’s very frustrating knowing this, I see Ed feels frustrated at times, not at you , but at himself.
