Got a x9000 last week with the 81v race battery. Install was super smooth, everything i needed was included and was super high quality cables and parts. Did the firmware upgrade from the app, hall calibration and set voltage and twisted throttle and it runs like the devil itself. Seems the issues are fixed
Pre ordered from a company in Canada and received it a week ago. My dealer updated it when it hit Canada and sent it to me. I installed and have gone thru set up and all is fine. Sucks your having issues. Hope all gets sorted out for yeah.
Installed mine on a surron Ultra myself. Had a few hick ups with cable length and reverse polarity but the bike runs much stronger, smother and has infinite customization. Letting your phone, or any other device, “sleep” during an update or be interrupted during any firmware install can brick just about anything. So far mines been great.
much happier overall vs my ko pro even with the pita wire install, and multiple devices (ios and android) to update display / tune controller. wish they left the unlimited password off the app, and the app is not as reliable updating settings. quality overall is better, and ebmx warranty process is easier and longer coverage. definitely not perfect, but thats the same with all controllers atm
Not just bricks , my ridding buddies x9000 Burnt with they last round of updates and EBMX now saying it’s his fault . $1200 in the bin less than a week old I’ll pass thanks
I dont have a EBMX but check the battery settings - on mine (nucular) I can set the 3 mode settings to whatever I want, but if the battery settings (elsewhere in settings) are lower, then it will only put out that lower power value, despite the mode settings being higher, and if it was set that way I'd get the same behaviour you describe re 'no extra power'. Just a guess mate, in the hope it helps - it does sound like there's some other issues to sort anyway. if not hopefully they get it sorted :/ there's always some growing pains but coming from nuc's - I've not actually heard of such firmware issues before haha, those boys have that side down pat.
Interesting... Nice to finally see a legit unbiased review. Thank you for that buddy. These are complicated systems it takes time to make then all work perfectly.
In all fairness I got a black one last week and plugged it into my bike turned it on and haven’t touched a thing. It blows my bac8k I had on my bike out of the water….
Thanks for the vid. Curious if you got this sorted out yet? What do you recommend in it's place? Torp, KO ? Was locked in on getting x9000 until I saw this. KO seems to have mixed reviews. Torp looks user friendly? Thoughts?
Has EBMX got their X9000 running properly in Sept 2023 ?? It seems a lot people are happy now and EBMX seem to have things under control ?? Am I wrong here ??
Had some hiccups. Bluetooth wouldn't stay connected but is solid now Smooth acceleration, rock solid construction and all the features available. I had one issue but turned out to be one of the connector prongs on the regren thumb throttle. Those tiny prongs get bent easily. Something to be aware of.
Exactly same issue for me man 😢. If you find how to fix it share please. Even I am an IT man I cant understand why it is so hard to setup this controler "plug in play" ... And cant understand how you can sell this kind of product so expensive and not correctly/full finished for end customer...hope better from ebmx...
Why does people not use the Torp Tc500? It is so high quality and made with the user in mind (I have used other controllers also). I would recommend 12/10.
Torp doesn’t have field weakening.. yes it’s user friendly if your using a stock battery. But if your using a upgraded 60v or a 72v like I am you’ll get more power using a bac4000/8000 or even the x9000. Currently the x9000 is the best unit as far as power goes. There was some bugs in the beginning like any other new electrics controller but supposedly everything is fixed and good to go with the new updates.. I would purchase a torp right now but they don’t have field weakening
What is to hot I got x9000 haven’t updated my bike was getting up to 130f I don’t think I got the wire to plug it into the pc for update do I need to contact them
@@mattthemechanic I bought one a couple months ago and installed it on my Sting R last week. I'm using an EWatt 72v/42Ah battery. Only one ride out so far (snow and cold here) so I can't say for sure, but I think they've solved a lot of the teething problems. I did notice if I lowered Field Weakening (stock was 45%) I lost power on the bottom end which I thought was strange. I don't have this issue with my BAC 8K. That is the only weirdness so far. Their software is great. I've seen several versions in different videos, and it's evolved to look and feel very slick. It was far easier to set up (especially for a novice) than the BAC. I'm pretty technical and I understand most of the settings intimately, but I was very happy not to dig deep for the more esoteric settings in the EBMX software. I selected my bike, chose my battery and it was pretty good out of the box. I am super happy with around 70% of max power - around 11KW or so. It's perfect for a 160-lb Sting R in the woods. So far, so good ... fingers crossed!
@@MoxyDaveAwesome. Just got the x9000, version 2. I haven't installed it yet. Definitely going to be running 72v battery. Which sprockets/wheels are you running? How do you like that battery? Is the range and power satisfactorily increased from stock with your 72v setup? Serious questions.
@@mconradbI have Warp 9 19/16" wheels with Shinko 524/525 tires, 44t aluminum sprocket & Renthal non-o-ring chain. More power than I can use, traction is the limiting factor. I haven't tested range but it seems about the same as OEM with me pinning it all the time. I usually run about 12KW and it's more than enough for me. The EWatt battery is great. It's a tiny bit fatter than the OEM battery so you have to shave a few mm off the rubbers in the frame. Also you have to dremel the Talaria frame a tiny bit to accomodate the rivets on the top cover of the battery. Talaria Boys have a video showing the procedure. The only drawback is the weight - between the controller and battery, it adds about 13 pounds to the bike. No biggie, I can lose 13 pounds if I stop eating donuts 🙂
Nothing ever perfect. Things that are new will have issues that can't be known until they happen! This will get worked out. This is teething pains! Heat sinks on these controllers are swappable. Black or gold is just screws and thermal paste.
