As far as I know shakos have never been a WGI thing I really wish they’d bring them back in DCI. I’d even be fine with modernized shakos. Or hats/headwear that fit the theme I just hate that they did away with them altogether
all respect towards the performers and staff but this group is starting to stagnate, every show each year recently is starting to feel like a variation of the year before, heck even the uniforms haven't changed much besides the color palette. the writing is def cracked but getting a bit predictable w the overall tone and style. insanely difficult book executed well isn't enough to win WGI anymore. BCP has been a major innovator / trend-setter in the activity for a few years now, hope they don't get too lost in the music sauce and put design and audience appeal on the back burner
@@snareline it's their first time ever not medaling since the inception of the group. that's the standard that's been set. no doubt they threw down this year, just think their formula is getting repetitive. innovators gotta keep innovating to stay ahead! i'm sure they will be lethal next year
The uniform is 100% intentional and it’s not hard to pick up on that 😂 Also, stagnate? They’re still in finals 🤷 and also allowed to do whatever they want bc, you know, it’s not like you’re in the judging seat.
@@mexicanpoptart17 exactly my point man, the overall formula hasn't changed. i brought up the uni as a small example because it's the most obvious visually. i appreciate that they have their own signature sound which has clearly inspired other groups already, and I look forward to hearing it evolve even more. of course i'm not on the judging panel, but I can certainly see why from a design standpoint the other 3 groups came in stronger this year. when you're at that level, playing hard stuff clean is a given so all the other factors must be taken into consideration. i'm team SoCal so i hope to see them back in top 3 next year 💪
I gotta say, placement aside… this is one of the best broken city shows theyve done in a while. The re watchability is crazy.
Is it just part of the "look at me" movement or have WGI participants never worn shakos?

A very clean and well executed book can very well make a group win. This “predictable” show still beat out 11 groups in finals.

Buddy, you literally just described Pulse on accident. The only difference is you’re partial to the latter.
