Should you match your makeup to your clothes? When you look at red carpet events you will notice that most of the time the makeup artist matches some part of the clothing to the face. This makes for a very cohesive appearance - and is very flattering to the face and clothes.
Picking out a colour (from your outfit) and using that colour on the face can "light" up the face and pull everything together.
At the end of the day its only makeup but it might be something to think about next time you're going out to achieve the most beautiful you.
Also, while this isn't related i do wish to point out that good makeup does not have to necessarily be expensive. There are great products in every price range.

I do that but I've been told to be old fashion!! but as I like it I'll carry on being old fashion 😁

Oh gosh this is an( old) tute, blurb, whatever. But what I caught more than anything in this . Was how lighthearted and sweet you were. Maybe you had a super day, idk. But it is what made me" fall head over make up "about you.

You are the perfect person to watch on YT when your starting out as a make up artist.
I sometimes like matching makeup but I also complimentary combinations, as long as its subtle.
I always hear gurus and makeup artists saying DO NOT match your makeup to your clothes it's not cool. But I can't wear a blue shirt and not incorporate blue into my eye look, it just feels wrong. Thank you for verifying this for us Wayne! :)
I think I always thought about matching makeup to clothing as just about the color of the eyeshadow (and a shade of lipstick that works with that color). I never really stopped to think about the overall impression of the outfit in the way that it's described here - thank you!

I think it depends on how well you blend the colors. I've seen people who try to match their garments but it doesn't look neat b/c they don't blend it well. Thanks for your videos. I love them. :)

Totally totally agree! I've always matched my make up with my clothes, or at least my accessories! That same with nail varnish too, don't wanna look like you got dressed in the dark lol

Thanks Goss! I've never understood how someone could just have one lipstick that they use for everything, everyday. I need variety so I can match the right lipstick to the outfit I'm wearing.
matching your makeup to a polka dot dress... cracks me up. That is part of reason why I put on makeup because I don't want to look mental.
This was so helpful because i tend to always match my makeup to what i'm wearing. As a matter of fact sometimes if i want to do my makeup in a specific way i will pick my outfit around that. However sometimes i do feel like maybe this is a little crazy to do but i'm glad to hear you feel the same way

I like this, its subtle and I've never really noticed it match till now lol.
I don't necessarily match my makeup to my clothing, but I like to use similar tones, or keep my look within the same colour family. I feel like it just completes the outfit that way.
I normally match my eye makeup color with my clothing. Love experimenting with different colors. I'm glad you made a video about it. :)

I agree that subtlety is key; match a blue shirt with a light swipe of blue liner rather than a thick swatch of Barbie style blue shadow
I love Angelina's look ! The first thing I noticed was her lips. The smokey eye was perfectly subtle yet bold, if that makes sense. : )

I was told to use colours that complement the colour of your top/dress but never to try and match the colours as this shortens your neck and makes you look hunched. Or something like that. The examples you've shown do look lovely though.
a friend of mine told me that I shouldN'T match the color of the make up with the clothes. But that's what I usually do. Thanks for this video!

I personally like to have accent of colour. For example in a plum dress have a black smokey eye with a plum liner or plum crease colour
