Just bought a used hrx217 HYA on marketplace for 350 that had some surging, tried cleaning out the carb, but still was doing the same thing. Saw your video and unscrewed that screw you mentioned, and it is working good as new. Thank you sir!
So helpful. Scored a looks like new slightly used Honda HRN... but, it is surging. Gonna do what you did and fix it right. Thanks for posting... so informative.
Now this is a helpful video! The guy knows what he's talking about, gets right to the point, shows you the tools you need and the problems that come up with these mowers....and bam! Get's it done! Thank you, two thumbs up and subscribed. EDIT: I watch a lot of videos and you do a great job, so no worries about needing to get better at them. The camera angles were great, your audio was good, you communicate extremely well, so yes, you should do many of these and get paid. Love the view of the lake too! Super nice.
@@jcssmallenginerepair3261 I would definitely watch your vids, you have the knack to be very entertaining and you know your stuff! You should do it. I took the carb off and I removed the jet you showed where you use the special screw drivers, but the long jet that has the holes on the sides that you showed to remove and clean...it would not come out. Do you have any tips on how to remove that secondary jet? Thanks again, Jc's Small Engine Repair.
I figured it out, I took a small pick with a 90 degree shape and went in through the carb throat and pushed it down and it came out the other side. Anyway, every little detail you mentioned in the video was spot on.
@@onthethrottle7104 Yeah can't wait to do my next video. I had a great Honda I should have shot a video for today. And I did exactly just that I use my 90° pick to push out the jet
Great video. I was surprised this was one of your only videos it was very well done and ur good on the camera. The lever to turn off the mower I never really thought about that but I’ll do it from now on. Thanks
I bought a brand new HRN216VYAA. Right out of the box the engine will start surging after the choke pulls off. While the choke is on, the engine runs beautiful. Now it's not a real bad surge like when the float bowl is empty, but it's enough of an rpm fluctuation to irritate me. I sure hope that little hole beneath the Phillips head screw gets a little bigger after poking enough wires through it. Maybe I should stop using the official Honda jet cleaning kit and find me a wire a little bigger.
I fixed one a lady up the street...she took it out of the box. Would not start...carb full of yellow gas.....from the box...unbelievable. Worked after cleaning...much easier than older hondas,
Hello there Thanks for this great detailed video. This is pretty much our case. issue, same engine sound... no fire! The carb we also got was clean, clean filter, clean 100% fresh gas, fresh oil, new spark plug, but it still does not start. Any idea what we're may be missing ? How do we check for fire? Thanks for your time
@@SatellaPower The easiest and safest way to check for fire would be to stop by any Harbor Freight location if you have one near you and pick up an inline spark plug tester. It is the absolute easiest tool to install You just simply plug it into the spark plug wire and the other end goes on the spark plug when you pull the cord you'll see the light bulb light up. If it does not light up then you definitely have an issue with either the ignition coil itself or The engine brake cable.. The inline spark tester is about $4.99 at Harbor Freight. Keep me posted and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
@@jcssmallenginerepair3261 thanks a tone for taking time to reply. Ok will grab one near by. Will let you know how it goes. If there are other tips or tools you suggest getting ahead of time, please let us know. Will do so just in case. Always good to have them tools and parts handy
@@jcssmallenginerepair3261 Thanks for helping troubleshooting. We got the tester, and no lights comes up at all. Thanks again.

I had a really finicky GCV200 engine on an HRX217 that I just got fed up with. I like how simple these new carbs are, but they are really dainty.
