Yea, Bungie used this for Halo 3 ODST, because they also believed that Halo 2's earth battle was too short, so they added it into Halo 3 ODST. In ODST, a lot of the roads are the same, but sadly, we don't get to see giant buildings, underpasses, and highways all around

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the Jackal shields. OG Xbox had this thing about "juicy" colour schemes. It's difficult to explain outside of perfectly saturated aesthetic with particular hi-tech/futuristic elements being overly saturated and glowy - the absolute go-to games I think of for this are Halo 2 & Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space.
Happy 20th to my favorite game in the world. I still remember when my brother gave me his Xbox and watched me play through the first level so long ago. He told me not to skip the cutscene. When I saw Chief deliver the bomb, I knew I had just been given the key to a most great journey. This game will always be important to me, and I will always carry it with me in the mark of shame tattooed on my chest. Also, seeing this environment in a crisp quality is amazing. WHAT?! have to agree, Halo 2 is where i got my online/gamer name from, and my first tattoo (that i got a month before my 18th birthday lol) was my H3 multiplayer emblem, the Mark of Shame over a blue star
I always felt like Halo 2 has held this soft spot for me. Like I think Halo CE is more satisfying to play while Halo 3 and Reach are arguably better when it comes to gameplay and level design. But something about Halo 2 with its story, characters, narrative, many different enemies and vehicles, different enemy factions, its soundtrack…it’s hard to describe but it all just comes together so beautifully. I also can’t help but feel that due to Halo 2’s heavy focus on lore and narrative, your channel draws in a lot of inspiration from it, and for that I absolutely love your videos with your attention to details and your thoughts on the Halo universe and for that I thank you for the 5-8ish years I’ve been watching your videos. Happy 20th anniversary Halo 2, you are truly a magnum opus in the gaming world 🎉
The Shadow is truly a neat vehicle that was so sadly underutilised. I used to take over the turret and my friend and I would speculate why the rate of fire was so much higher. Maybe it was an "AA" version of the standard Shade? Or all Shades had a variable ROF but only the vehicle mounted version had a large enough power/fuel supply to allow the higher ROF, while the stationary defence ones had a smaller supply so the gunners needed to use less, hopefully better aimed fire
I remember it vividly. Thinking about it all day in school, finally getting home and seeing it on the table. But my dad took me to my grans for most of the evening, so I took the manual and read it thoroughly while there. I got home and got to play through Cairo Station before being told to go to bed. It was so bittersweet. Regarding the demo mission, I just played it, and it feels like we finally get a taste of the Halo 2 that nearly was, particularly the fact that the old lighting engine is present in the download! Like the music in the credits, I feel a nice sense of closure, after 20 years. I've been wondering lately; If the creators of Halo 2 would ever get back together to create the Halo 2 they planned from the beginning if they had the opportunity.

I remember being 5 years old in 2010 going across the street in my cul-de-sac to play on my friends xbox to play halo 1 and 2 for many years not even knowing halo 3 existed. My favorite game of all time.
Surprised there wasn't any part of this video exploring the level in the playground, there's some fun Easter eggs on the infamous signs and you can explore the entire level, even where the final cutscene plays. We also got Alpha Moon releasing on the 15th, resurrecting a cut Arbiter level
You know it's an influential game when the dialog lines (that didn't make it into the final game) from a 10 minute demo from 2003 is still fresh in your mind haha. I had so much fun playing this today, such a nostalgia trip.
This heals my inner child. I remember back in around 2008 I searched SO MUCH for this demo, not knowing at the time it was basically lost media. Finally being able to play it myself at the age of 22 is amazing.
I feel lucky to have been there, at the beginning of it all, CE and halo 2. Legendary couch coop sleepovers and lan parties to Xbox live matches late in to summer nights. Take me back bro.
I really wish Microsoft would allow halo mods onto the Xbox because it’ll be a grand to play some of the original levels that were scrapped and also experienced the flood juggernaut
The blood seems very similar to how it looked in CE, meaning it’s brighter looking and there’s a lot more of it. Makes Halo 2 feel so much bloodier than the final game. Also the red muzzle flash on the SMGs always reminded me of the Magnum’s in CE.
I just played this a few minutes ago. Ngl to you, I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. I also played it as it was scripted so I intentionally played like a terrible player who can't aim for crap just so certain scripts would trigger. And I was mimicking what the old E3 showcase did. To anyone who plays this, bare in mind that this mission is HEAVILY, and I mean HEAVILY scripted, so doing anything differently from what was intended might screw up some of the scripts, I'm not sure. 20 years old... to think Halo 2 is this old... the old days are still with me... I miss it so much!!
It really is hard to believe I remember seeing the cutscene at the end of the mission in a game demo I had. I remember playing halo 2 searching literally EVERYTHING trying to find that to no avail. Even asked the marines, all I got was a pack of crayons but all jokes aside the fact that this game is 20 years old and still continues to offer content shows how truly great of a game it was.
When I asked for Halo content, I didn't think they'd send HiddenXperia's upload of the Legendary E3 Level God that lens flare or w\e that optical phenomenon is known as, is iconic. It's so beautiful seeing this, it's like seeing a deleted scene from an old movie that you've seen a dozen times. Then when you see the deleted scene it feels really weird at first!
I still remember at 6 years old seeing the E3 demo and absolutely losing my mind. My search history has periodical searches of "Halo 2 E3 Mod" multiple times a year for the last 10 years. I've never been so excited for a piece of Halo content to be released and while I really hate they weren't able to get the pstencil engine effects working, it's still an unbelievable recreation and I couldn't be happier. One of maybe 3 things 343 has done well, but damn they did it better than I could've hoped. Hats off Digsite team.
So it turns out stencil shadows were already cut by the time they made that demo and that it actually uses raw shadowmaps the same way this mod does so its even pretty damn accurate. Still engine differences so while not 100 percent accurate the lighting and shadows are like 99 percent accurate on the mod it's amazing
Love it! And I will die on a hill that having the separation of Forerunners and Ancient humans that we devolved from us, alot better, less vulnerability in mystery spoiling. Sure we know alot of stuff about the Forerunners as a species post Halo 2 human forerunner concept. BUT still theres alot we dont know. Also we know even less about Ancient Humans thats basically " human forerunner " and the Precursors themself. We basically got all covered! Well besides our new Halo Infinites Endless species...
I remember this day 20 years ago I was 5 years old I remember my da bringing me to GameStop getting this legend game and got the spacial edition I still have it too this day being fan of halo since 2001 I was 2 years old playing halo ce being fan almost 23 years old November 15 I’m 25 years old now
Man this is cool to see you again man oh man but I guess now it makes sense on why Bungie change the Halo 3 phantom cuz originally in Halo 2 I did not notice this until now they have the Halo 3 design with the doors and the one turret in the front but it does kind of make me wonder what this version of Halo 2 would have been like how did they actually finished it
Wow, two great Halo vids in one day. I saw both notifications and assumed they were about the same thing. To my delight, i see they are two DIFFERENT but equially EPIC topics!!!! Thank you Precursors!
Cool. My childhood when i was with just a crappy amd sempron PC only and no consoles just emulators. Is nice to see this now with high fidelity quality.
It feels like I'm watching an alternate reality version of Halo 2 which in a way it is it's so strange watching them safely land the pelican instead of getting shot down by the scarab this is so cool
The fact this couldn’t come to the console version is so bittersweet. Like I understand that it’s easier to do it via mods but the fact that the core demographic and platform that established this game was not prioritised and shifted aside is very modern halo in its approach. Can’t just deliver a landslide widespread acclaimed update for everyone to celebrate but instead the fans watch afar that don’t have PC.
@@benhelms7983 it’s weird? So something exciting that a lot of fans wanted to play is weird? If it is then I guess I am weird. I also like food when it tastes good and try and have fun in life.
I remember playing this demo and being so excited for Halo 2. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Halo 2 that we got, but this was what really got me pumped up for the game's release, and I was mad disappointed when what I saw in the demo was nowhere to be found.
I shed quite a few tears playing this, when I was a kid I bought the Halo 2 Limited Collectors Edition after awhile, thinking that it had the demo from E3. To say I was disappointed would be a bit of an understatement lol. I'm glad my childhood dreams were brought to life by the Digsite team, Halo is still a huge part of my life, love this franchise, hope it can return to a bit of it's old glory with this "new" studio.
Man that wort wort wort is the single most ferocious sounding moment of an elite in any of the games. I wish they wouldve kept that audio in for the elites
I can't wait to try this out. And it looks like along with this, Ruby is doing a halo 2 rebalanced mod soon. Just watched a trailer for it from about 8 months ago.
I really miss this architecture and feel from old Halo multiplayer and campaign levels. The contrast of metal and neon cities with rundown 2000s cement buildings from Halo 2 and 3 was one of my favorite things in the Halo universe, it felt like real life but scifi enough to be intriguing and cool. That same feeling of exploring multiplayer maps alone and wondering what their use was and making up stories in my mind when I was little. And also as you mentioned that militaristic feel as well is just not there anymore for me, Halo Infinite did it better with saving marines and all of that, but in general in modern Halo it feels way more scifi than before when it felt more grounded and made me feel like we were actually fighting in a war alongside marines and ODSTs. Also while im talking about ODSTs I absolutely hate how we dont really see them in the games anymore (at least not in their actual armor), they were my absolute most favorite part of Halo and now they are mostly Spartans which I dont hate but when was the last time we saw Helljumpers dropping from orbit?? They couldve keep them as Spartans but keep them as Helljumpers and just make them a spec ops branch of Spartans.
I remember when they said they were working on this I was so hyped We didn’t hear anything for ages I thought they’d dropped it But shadow dropping it on the 20th birthday was perfect Big ask but imagine if they recreated the cut levels and/or the original ending Halo 2 story dlc a man can dream
It's insane that we can experience this today. Make sure to listen to the original track at the end as well. Really beautiful Halo early 2000s feel to it.

I miss it so much!!
haha i felt the need todo the same, played it exactly like the trailer demo
Very nice, been waiting for this. Loved the demo sm
If I told my 12 year old self that I’d be able to play that Halo 2 demo that I used to watch on my Xbox demo disc I wouldn’t believe it.
Literally just completed halo 2 legendary for the first time today and found out after it was the anniversary
When I asked for Halo content, I didn't think they'd send HiddenXperia's upload of the Legendary E3 Level
God that lens flare or w\e that optical phenomenon is known as, is iconic.
I remember this day 20 years ago I was 5 years old I remember my da bringing me to GameStop getting this legend game and got the spacial edition I still have it too this day being fan of halo since 2001 I was 2 years old playing halo ce being fan almost 23 years old November 15 I’m 25 years old now
3:25 no? Can somebody explain why?
Happy 20th Anniversary to Halo 2!!!!!!!!!😆🥳🎉🎉🎉
Yes, brother, thank you. I've loved Halo 2 on the original xbox. Thank you so much for showing this
Man this is cool to see you again man oh man but I guess now it makes sense on why Bungie change the Halo 3 phantom cuz originally in Halo 2 I did not notice this until now they have the Halo 3 design with the doors and the one turret in the front but it does kind of make me wonder what this version of Halo 2 would have been like how did they actually finished it
I love this so much. Honestly the Halo Infinite Demo video also gave me similar feelings 🫢
What a good day to be alive 🥹🥹🥹
Wow, two great Halo vids in one day. I saw both notifications and assumed they were about the same thing. To my delight, i see they are two DIFFERENT but equially EPIC topics!!!! Thank you Precursors!
My god, that was sensational. Just as amazing to see now as an old man (28) as it was as a kid
just look at the pace of the Game.
1 breathtaking Moment follows the other.
with a sick sountracks rolling out everytime!
thats Halo !
Same Here, happy 20th anniversary of halo 2 [only on xbox] 2004 - 2024
I wish the bungie to see this. 🙏
so I've been in love with cortanas voice for 80% of my lifespan. Thats crazy
Cool. My childhood when i was with just a crappy amd sempron PC only and no consoles just emulators. Is nice to see this now with high fidelity quality.
Imagine if the battle rifle was updated and made into the full-release battle rifle! That be so cool! 😂❤
It feels like I'm watching an alternate reality version of Halo 2 which in a way it is it's so strange watching them safely land the pelican instead of getting shot down by the scarab this is so cool
"Bet you can't stick it" had me crying. I remember every bit of this, this is just... soul repairing.
Mate. It's called sarcasm. 😅
Happy 20th Halo 2. Still my fav of the og trilogy. I'll always love this game
We need this vibe for Halo back.
Can't wait for this to become a custom multiplayer map sometime in the future for larger scale cityscape battles
I remember when they said they were working on this I was so hyped
We didn’t hear anything for ages I thought they’d dropped it
But shadow dropping it on the 20th birthday was perfect
Big ask but imagine if they recreated the cut levels and/or the original ending
Halo 2 story dlc a man can dream
Man I was 8 months old when Halo 2 released. Favorite game ever made
🔥🔥🔥
I loveddddd halo 2, still do
I got halo 2 for Christmas when I was 5. Greatest
gift ever
It’s worth an achievement.
It's insane that we can experience this today.
Make sure to listen to the original track at the end as well. Really beautiful Halo early 2000s feel to it.
2024 the year of lost Media.
Even I got chills seeing the h2 logo come up. Halo is so special man.
Those H2 maps look pitch perfect.
Not gonna lie as soon as I read the title I thought you were talking about flood tank. I got so excited😭
Finally! I get to see it in crisp HD quality after 21 years!!!!!
I spent the entire day playing splitscreen H2 with some buddys, cant think of a better way to spend the anniversary
My first real M game for me. I had played CE with my cousins but Halo 2 was my real first game for myself. Crazy times
Man this level has so much blood on the ground, like dayum.
