Most of these yachts are up for Sale second Hand, The Range is actually Limited, Its got a 145 Mile range , It takes 6 Hours of full daylight to fully recharge at standstill without using the Power . Why didnt they run the generator..or use a parakite sail thats what its for . The first crossing was done in Feb E -W and in rough conditions . In 17 days and another 17 beating round the Caribbean. plenty of sailing and motor sailing vessels have to make do with sailing at 7 Knt max and below.

So much wrong here, showing old model 64 when talking about new 60 (and all the time in video), 55 is only one version, top of flybridge can be closed, same as basic model 60 and 80 etc.
Not a word in the whole video about the fact that electricity means zero pollution : zero noise, zero toxic particles, zero CO2. Is this topic taboo in the yachting industry? Soon all diesel boats will be banned from ports, at least in democracies, keep that in mind when investing millions in a boat. BTW, when comparing prices, it would be fair to include the cost of fuel and maintenance.

What if the engines on a diesel fail? What if your sails rip on a sailing vessel? The advantage to Catamarans is that they are dual engine systems. The likelihood that the diesel generator AND both electric motors fail is extremely unlikely.
they should look to include the new covered vertical wind turbines to the design they would not need any backup generator and would increase range n power x 4 at least
The wind over sun shadow doesnt break even enough for enough time to payback ... It depends on where and when you plan using the vessel but thats the reason they have never fitted them from the factory.
Well as the draft is only 3'3" on the sixty thats not an issue the width i dont know about but speeds restricted anyway.. They should offer a reverse charge option where the yacht can put power into the docks. Park an 80 and have it sit there for 8 months not giving energy back is a huge waste. Also, the range and speed I bet doesn’t have the fridge and air con going. Solar panels cannot run an AC and a yacht motor even during sunny conditions. Maybe the future 120’ version can but a buyer should see the math before purchase because no doubt compromises are in order. Kind of sad advertisers are allowed to say such things.
The still image of this video is of an Alva Yacht, not a Silent Yacht at all, its an Alva Eco 60 to be precise...a direct, and maybe only real competitor of Silent Yachts. Even apart from this obvious mishap, this video is a fairly poor and incomprehensive representation of Silent Yachts. The brand deserves much better than that.
Good catch on the thumbnail image! Thats definitely an Alva haha. He also showed the Solar Wave 64 instead of the 55. Other than those, I didnt think this video was bad. Exposure is good for SY!

Low speed. If water enter in contact with the electric,,,babum you are F..K also, it cost double than a same size traditional yacht...and finally Lithium batteries are extremely hard and expensive to recycle and they pollute more that fossil fuels.

yacht solar can run an AC just fine, even two of them on smaller yachts like 40 footers. there's loads around.
55 is not sold anymore, there are 60, 80 and soon 120
How about compare price plus 5 years of annual operating cost.
